Marry First, Love Later Ch.4

Chapter 4- That name is taboo to her, she’ll blow up whoever mentions it!

The two went to the barbecue stall in front of the school, and Zhuang Xiaowen ordered a lot, however, when she was almost finished eating, she found that Xie Lan had not eaten at all.

Zhuang Xiaowen blushed out of embarrassment and asked , “Professor, why don’t you eat something?”

Xie Lan shook her head, “You eat, I don’t need anything.”

Zhuang Xiaowen felt awkward, “It’s embarrassing if I’m the only one eating.”

Xie Lan didn’t understand what she was embarrassed about and only said, “Eat.”

Zhuang Xiaowen wanted to dig a hole and hide in it, however she could only grit her teeth and continue eating. As she stuffed the food into her mouth, she took out her phone and started playing a video.

Xie Lan, who was lost in thought, suddenly heard a familiar voice.

Wasn’t that…

“Professor, do you watch any live streams?” Zhuang Xiaowen asked while watching the video on her phone.

Xie Lan’s heartbeat accelerated a bit as she hesitantly asked, “What’s a live stream?”

Zhuang Xiaown looked at her with a baffled look, “If you don’t even know this, you must not go online a lot then, huh?”

What Zhuang Xiaowen had guessed hit the nail on the head. Xie Lan’s life followed a very strict schedule, so generally except for sleeping, eating, or teaching students, she spent most of her time in the laboratory.

Seeing as Xie Lan’s was silent, Zhuang Xiaowen took it as a sign of agreement. However, not only did Zhuang Xiaowen not find this strange, she even had a trace of a worshipping look in her eyes.

Although Xie Lan was a solemn and serious person, who was careful with her words, her classes were always filled to the brim with information. Well this heavy workload was quite manageable, it wasn’t her fault her lectures and features were both amazing. Students nowadays really appreciated a person’s beauty more than their personality.

Compared to today’s materialistic and fickle society, Professor Xie was like a cool breeze in the summer air, soothing your heart.

Xie Lan didn’t care about what Zhuang Xiaowen was thinking, she only cared about the voice she had heard just now.

“Are you watching a live stream right now?” Xie Lan carefully asked.

Zhuang Xiaowen blinked at the Professor’s question, “Uh, yeah, I really like this streamer a lot!” She said as she turned her screen to show Xie Lan.

In the video, a girl was facing the camera with a sweet smile, happily chatting about something.

Needless to say, this person was Yao QiQi.

The only difference from the last time is that the Yao Qiqi in the video appeared more dazzling, her face all dolled up with heavy makeup.

Xie Lan froze as she stared distractly at Yao QiQi’s half exposed white and tender shoulder, her brows furrowing at the sight.

“Does she not sleep at all?” Xie Lan asked another question.

Zhuang Xiaowen shook her head, “No, this is a recording of the stream from yesterday.” Then she muttered under her breath, “Strange, usually at this time, Sister Qi would still be playing games. How come today’s stream already ended…”

Xie Lan was in a bad mood when she arrived at home.

It turned out her profession was actually something like this?

Xie Lan absent mindedly unlocked her door as she mulled over what she learned today. The first thing she did after putting her stuff down was to download that program Zhuang Xiaowen had shown her onto her mobile phone. This was her first time using such a program so it took her a while before she finally found Yao QiQi’s stream.

She tapped on a video and frowned as she looked through the chat. Young people these days were bold and straightforward, in almost every video there were crazy comments. The usernames also had a gender icon next to them, and a lot of Yao QiQi’s fans were obviously male.

In the video, whenever a user donated or gifted something, Yao QiQi would turn to the camera and blow a kiss. What “cutie” and “honey”? Did she call everyone intimately like that? The more Xie Lan watched, the more her brows tightened together and her lips creased into a flat line. She went through the videos all night and even donated as well.

Although her salary and bonuses were enough to last her multiple lifetimes, besides spending some for her aunt, Xie Lan was very frugal with her money. However, today she seemed to have gone….

Berserk.

The next day, Yao QiQi opened up her computer to find she had struck it rich overnight.

Easy money.

Yao QiQi didn’t know which die-hard fan of hers was willing to donate so much money, so for the sake of this generous gift, she extended today’s live stream.

She looked at the wealthy donor’s username and it was a newly registered female’s account. Yao QiQi pondered, she hasn’t really done anything lately and she wasn’t in the “hot” section for the search bar, so how come she was suddenly receiving all these gifts?

She hadn’t had an increase in subscribers either.

Meanwhile, Xie Lan was sitting in her office with a pair of headphones on, intently watching the live stream. The other professors who passed by were surprised at her demaneor.

“Little Xie, did something happen recently?”

“Oh I know this streamer, my daughter is a fan of hers!”

“Ah, I know her too, she sings pretty well.”

“So little Xie also likes watching her too?”

Xie Lan: “…”

Surrounded by her seniors, Xie Lan felt uncomfortable and tried to explain when someone knocked on her office’s door.

She looked over to see Zhuang Xiaowen standing outside with a sweet smile, “Professor Xie, can I come in?”

Xie Lan nodded her head slowly as she puts away her phone.

On the other side, Yao QiQi had turned off her game and was passing her time chatting with her fans when suddenly she saw a comment from a bad username pop up.

King of Comedy: 【Well, well, well, if it isn’t the mistress who messed with another’s relationship. I’m surprised you still have the courage to show your face around here.

Yao QiQi raised her eyebrow and said bluntly, “User “King of Comedy” why don’t we try talking in a more polite manner?”

Immediately after her response, a barrage of fans echoed her words in the chat.

King of Comedy: 【Don’t pretend you don’t know what I’m talking about. Who doesn’t know about the affair between you and Wei Ran? Even though you’re so young, you have no shame.

Yao QiQi leaned back into her chair and laughed, “Well since you put it that way, I guess I have to tell you the truth, haha~

King of Comedy: 【What truth? This is my first time seeing someone who pretends to be righteous and just without shame.

This man was obviously trying to be difficult on purpose.

Yao QiQi got angry, tsked and explained, “It’s true that I once had a relationship with Wei Ran. I was even going to marry her, and she came over to meet my mother as well. However, I had just went out of town for a little while and you know what happened when I came back? She was already engaged to another person and I had become the third party! This type of garbage who sleeps around with others while neglecting their fiance has somehow become the victim?” She smiled, “Don’t you find that funny?”

As the news spilled out, the chat exploded with a rush of comments.

However, this time she seems to have exploded a bit too much.

Instantly her streamed jumped into the “hot” section.

Originally, she had just wanted to repay the donor’s generous gift with an extended live stream but she couldn’t hold herself back when she heard that malicious comment.

The name Wei Ran was taboo to her, she’ll blow up on whoever mentions that wretched name!

In the end, even the program’s management team had to call her.

Yao QiQi had answered them in an indifferent manner, “That stupid cu*t was the one two-timing me and made me out as the third party. I had been holding back and didn’t press charges, but now I want to wash myself clean of this entire affair. Remind her that I still have plenty of evidence on my hands, so if she still has some sense left, tell her not to mess with me or she’ll regret it.”

Before the other party could respond, Yao QiQi hung up the phone.

Fu*k the world! I’m not afraid of anything!

Mother Yao heard the aggressive slamming and asked curiously from outside the door, “Did your period come today?”

Yao QiQi: “….”

She definitely couldn’t continue her live stream today. She opened up her WeChat to find multiple voice messages were sent to her by Wei Ran. Evidently, knowing that Yao QiQi must’ve been ignoring her, Wei Ran sent a direct text as well.

【QiQi, please let me explain! I really didn’t know that person, she meant nothing to me! Please, we were so good together and I don’t want to argue with you any longer. Don’t worry about this whole thing, I’ll explain everything to the management team, it’s the only thing I can do seeing how much trouble I have caused you. Please let’s meet up for a meal sometime and I’ll sincerely apologize to you!】

Yao QiQi was expressionless as she blacklisted the person’s ID.

Who would be dumb enough to happily get back together with you! How dare garbage like you call me QiQi!?

In the end, she was left in a bad mood. Whenever someone mentioned her and Wei Ran’s relationship she wanted to punch the good-for-nothing in the face!

The two had met before through a game and Wei Ran was the more famous one because she was a professional gamer. It was Wei Ran who first pursued her and after being deceived by the other’s good looks and charms, QiQi agreed to a relationship! Just thinking about it made her want to vomit!

Yao QiQi felt revolted in her heart and went out to find a bar to drink her sorrows away. Since it was still light outside, not many bars were open, so she went to a bar she frequented often.

The bar owner knew her, so naturally knew what had happened. Seeing Yao QiQi walk in with a dark face, she couldn’t help but tease, “So who bullied our Sister Qi today? Just look at that expression of yours.”

Yao QiQi glared at her, “Give me ten years worth of alcohol!”

The boss smiled and said, “Ten years, eh? I can see that you really are furious today. Well, I can get you the drinks but you better be prepared to not go home today~”

Yao QiQi impatiently slapped the counter twice, “Hurry up and bring the drinks!”

T/N notes:

Ok so technically Yao QiQi calls her donors “little sister” or “little brother” for a direct translation but the meaning is closer to something like “cutie” so I decided to translate it like that.
