Received A Wife From The Civil Affairs Bureau Ch.12

Tang Jiu turned off each light one by one and then looked over at his boss, before approaching with a smirk on his face and teased, “Boss, did you really marry that beautiful teacher?”

In the beginning, Tan Jiu was the original owner of this restaurant, but because of his poor management, was unable to achieve any real success. However, because he wasn’t a native of Beijin, he couldn’t just give up and go home, so he handed it over to Jiang Ziquan when she applied for the job.

And because of his muscular and tall stature, Jiang Ziquan thought that it would be good to keep him as a bodyguard, at the very least. Not to mention, it was her first time opening a restaurant, so she was going in completely blind. In the end, she decided to keep him and the salary she offered him was quite generous.

And so, two years had passed since that day, and now the two of them were now the best of friends.

Therefore, the Tang Jiu who had been by her side for so many years was naturally very surprised. His two eyes practically shouted his desire for some gossip.

As the two of them walked out the restaurant, hearing his question, Jiang Ziquan knocked him on the head and asked, “Why do you ask? Do you think I’m not worthy enough for  Miss Shen?”

“How can that be.” Tang Jiu locked the door, waved his hand, and replied with a smile, “Of course our boss is worthy of such a person, but the two of you don’t seem like you’re from the same social circles.”

The next sentence he didn’t dare to say: And you two don’t act like a normal married couple.

In his understanding, newlyweds acted lovey dovey towards each other and tended to stick together like two peas in a pod. However, when it came to his boss’ marriage, it seemed more like a subordinate relationship, with his boss being the subordinate in the relationship that is desperately trying to cling onto the other.

But of course, he didn’t dare to say this to Jiang Ziquan.

Jiang Ziquan glanced at him, “What do you mean?”

Tang Jiu exposed a silly smile, and rubbed his hands, “That lady seemed rather proper with a scholarly air around her,” seeing his boss’ glare he quickly added, “not that you aren’t proper yourself boss, it’s just that you….”

Tang Jiu looked her up and down.

Jiang Ziquan knew what he meant, and unconsciously touched the pink highlights in her hair. At the time, she had thought it would look good on her. Glancing down at her clock, it was already two in the morning, “Alright, I’ll see you later. Stay safe, bye.”

Since her place was only a thousand meters away, and she knew a little bit of self-defense, Tang Jiu didn’t need to escort her home.

Jiang Ziquan tucked her hands into her pocket, “It’s been getting cold lately.” Saying so, she took out a cigarette, lit it, and then spit out a puff.

Meanwhile, Shen Yumo was earnestly grading her students’ homework, but the words Jiang Ziquan spoke earlier caused her heart to accelerate, distracting her from the tedious task.

If Jiang Ziquan was a male, Shen Yumo believed she wouldn’t be this flustered. After all there had been at least eight or ten boys who had said the same thing. Maybe because Jiang Ziquan is a girl of the same age as her, but that gentle yet determined gaze, would cause anyone to be unable to forget it.

Earlier…..

“Yumo, I want to pursue you.”

Shen Yumo looked at her and said nothing.

Jiang Ziquan was not upset by the lack of reaction, and merely rubbed her hands together to say, “You don’t have to worry about anything, I’ll be the one pursuing. Although this is my first time pursuing someone, so if you feel uncomfortable about anything, I hope Teacher Shen will advise me.”

Saying so, she even made a salute with her hands, like the ones in historical dramas, and blinked a few times. [1]

The originally serious atmosphere was completely shattered by this one gesture.

This was the first time Shen Yumo had a girl say she wanted to pursue her. As someone who felt like she owed Jiang Ziquan and her family, being interrupted from her burdensome thoughts like this, She Yumo was able to relax a little.

She didn’t accept or refuse Jiang Ziquan’s statement, and she didn’t show any disgust either, causing Jiang Ziquan to feel somewhat relieved.

A few days later, Jiang Ziquan was able to figure out Shen Yumo’s schedule. However, she didn’t go everyday because sometimes she truly was too busy.

However Shen Yumo felt rather helpless, she had never seen someone pursue the way that Jiang Ziquan did. For example, she disliked drinking anything other than hot water and she only drinked coffee during the college exam season.

Yet, Jiang Ziquan had handed her a cup of hot milk tea with boba and said with a smile, “Girls should drink sweet things so they can be happy all day. And for a girl as sweet as you, you deserve to be happy. In all aspects, Teacher Shen is amazing, just that you need to enjoy life a little more.”

Shen Yumo glanced at it, but did not take it and advised, “Miss Jiang, milk tea causes people to grow fat, you should drink less in the future.”

Shocked, Jiang Ziquan compared their waists and then looking at Miss Shen’s waist, hers was indeed a little bigger. Then she shamelessly looked at the other’s chest, “The extra fat from the milk tea still seems to have it’s good points.

Shen Yumo didn’t understand, frowned, and then following her line of sight, her face then flushed red. This girl was such a scoundrel! Feeling angry, Shen Yumo wanted to leave.

Knowing that she had infuriated Shen yumo, Jiang Ziquan hurriedly grabbed her arm, “Teacher Shen, I was wrong, forgive me. Just try it, if it really doesn’t taste good, then…”

Standing so close, her hair brushed against Shen Yumo’s neck. Shen Yumo pushed her slightly, and moved a little further away.

“…please?”

Jiang Ziquan was still wearing her thin uniform, with only one layer of jacket on top. She couldn’t help but tremble a bit, and her face turned a little pale.

Shen Yumo felt a little pity for Jiang Ziquan’s current state, and maybe because in her mind, Jiang Ziquan was like those teasing students of hers. She had no choice and it wasn’t like it was poison, so she said, “Fine, but if it doesn’t taste good, don’t bring it next time.”

Unexpectedly, Jiang Ziquan happily said, “If it doesn’t taste good, I’ll bring another flavor next time.”

Shen Yumo felt helpless, Just how much does she like milk tea?

“And if it really tastes that bad, you can just take one sip, I won’t feel bad.” Jiang Ziquan observed her expression. If she really didn’t like it and forced herself, Jiang Ziquan would feel guilty. Then she added: “I will check up on you later.”

After saying so, Jiang Ziquan slipped away, leaving Shen Yumo alone with the tea.

Later, Shen Yumo understood what Jiang Ziquan meant by ‘check up’. Jiang Ziquan asked her to send a photo of the remaining tea. Sighing, she did as she was asked.

A reply came,

“I’ll change it to a rose flavored one tomorrow.”

Shen Yumo: “….”

Today, Shen Yumo hurriedly walked over to Jiang Ziquan’s restaurant. After her countless number of protests, she decided to give up and now she accepted the drink without changing her expression. The temperature of the drink was very hot, warming up her hands, “Aren’t you busy?”

Jiang Ziquan waved her hand. It’s still early, so there were no people in the shop, but she said seriously: “Today’s flavor is papaya.”

Shen Yumo’s expression changed, and seeing that Jiang Ziquan didn’t seem like she was joking. She looked down. The coloring showed it was obviously mango flavored.

Jiang Ziquan laughed, but then fearing she would get hit again, hurriedly said, “I need to go now.”

Shen Yumo smiled, her mood lifting. She was still smiling as she walked to school.

“Teacher Shen, I see it’s a different flavor again today.” Xu Yan looked at the drink in Shen Yumo’s hands and laughed. The frequency of Jiang Ziquan’s wasn’t that high, only about three times a week. However, everyone knew that Shen Yumo didn’t like to drink such things, but recently she started to drink them and each time the drink was a new flavor. Also, she would only drink a sip or two and leave most of it untouched, Naturally, this caused all the teachers to gossip.

Before Shen Yumo could answer, another literature teacher, Zhou Kairui said, “Ms. Shen just got married, it’s not uncommon for them to be greasy like this. All men are like that. Oh wait, I forgot that Ms. Shen married a woman.”

After saying so, Zhou Kairui also laughed a few times. Originally, her voice sounded normal, but this laugh contained a few unsettling, patronizing tones.

Shen Yumo felt puzzled. Teacher Zhou and her started sharing this office earlier this year, and Teacher Zhou is older than her. She hadn’t done anything to offend Teacher Zhou, so she could only think of one thing: Teacher Zhou could not accept her same-sex marriage.

After all, the legalization of same-sex marriage only passed three years ago, naturally there were many who still haven’t accepted it. Thinking like this, Shen Yumo didn’t bother reacting, she knew to respect other people’s opinions.

Xu Yan on the other hand couldn’t accept Shen Yumo getting bullied like this. She and Shen Yumo had started teaching around the same time, so they had a better relationship. She came to the same conclusion as Shen Yumo and replied, “Who cares if the other is a man or woman? Teacher Shen’s wife is so gentle and considerate, it makes one feel quite envious of the two of them.”

Zhou Kairui snorted coldly, picked up the lesson plans, and aggressively stomped out of the staff room.

Shen Yumo frowned and said nothing, pulled out her chair and sat down.

Xu Yan patted her shoulder and comforted, “Teacher Zhou was probably in a bad mood, don’t worry about it.”

Shen Yumo nodded, but she didn’t take it to heart. Because the literature teachers switched offices so many times, she rarely worried about her relationships with her colleagues. Not to mention, since she had treated Teacher Zhou respectfully, they could still probably salvage their work relationship.

“Teacher Shen, Director Yuan called for you.” Chen Wenyan had just returned from class and didn’t know what happened. Seeing Shen Yumo’s confused look, she said nothing. She really didn’t know what was going on, she was only the messenger.

Shen Yumo nodded and walked towards Director Yuan’s office.

  1. Welp though sad to look at it does make it more realistic that there are people against same sex marriages and all.

Damn Ziquan as always being the best, I love her straightforward top energy, and Yumo? Did you ever feel so flustered for guys chasing after you? Maybe you were always into the clamboni special?

  2. OwO that’s probably one of the calmest examples of opposition that I’ve seen in a yuri novel >looking at you ABBR with that one girlfriend’s mom threatening to k*ll herself if she married a woman :(<
