Received A Wife From The Civil Affairs Bureau Ch.31

The two walked out of the room and had just sat down to eat when Chen Chen ran over as if she knew exactly when they were going to eat. She held two children in her hands. The two little girls were wearing the exact same pink princess pettiskirts and pale white knitted hats. They were extremely cute and looked identical.

“Where did you kidnap these kids from?” As two adults who haven’t formed families yet, Jiang Ziquan and Lin Cuo were quite curious about the cute little girls in front of them. They bent down and smiled at the two little kids, a teasing look in their eyes.

The two girls weren’t afraid of strangers and only giggled happily as dimples appeared on their faces.

“These two are mine. They’re almost five now and their names are Chen Shuang and Su Qing.” Chen Chen said as she tenderly smiled at the two little girls in a spoiled manner, “Come meet your aunts, kids. This is Aunt Jiang and this is Aunt Lin.”

The two kids greeted them obediently and one of the bolder ones even kissed Lin Cuo on the cheek and said in a soft voice, “Auntie looks so beautiful.”

“Eh? What about me? Am I not beautiful?” Jiang Ziquan purposely put on a threatening expression.

“En.” Chen Shuang looked at Jiang Ziquan and then back at Lin Cuo again. In her opinion, Lin Cuo suited her own aesthetics more. She looked gentle and soft, a little like her own mother.

Jiang Ziquan’s eye twitched and she comforted herself by thinking that the child’s aesthetics haven’t matured yet so she can’t get angry.

“Hey, Lin Cuo, are my eyes playing tricks on me, or do these two kids look a lot like Su Yan?” After playing for a while, Jiang Ziquan finally noticed something was wrong. The two children’s nose and mouth were like Chen Chen but the rest of their features were exactly the same as Su Yan. She looked up

“Yes, that’s right, these are mine and Su Yan’s legal children.”

“Oh, don’t look so shocked,” As if accustomed to people acting surprised at hearing this news, she patted one of the kid’s hair and continued, “Su Yan and I got married before she entered the entertainment circle and um, I guess you could say it was a secret marriage.”

Jiang Ziquan and Lin Cuo were still reeling from shock and looked at these two cute faces. Then they thought of Su Yan’s icy face and could not believe it. Who would have thought that the nation’s superstar was already married with kids? It took both of them a long time to recover from this shocking news.

Su Yan had only gotten more popular recently and by then Jiang Ziquan was past the age where one recklessly chases after stars. She only occasionally looked her up to pass the time and she remembered how shocked she was when she found that Su Yan didn’t have a single scandal. Now she understood why it’s because she had a business giant like Chen Chen for a wife.

Chen Chen was already married when she met Jiang Ziquan she didn’t tell her because China hadn’t passed the same-sex marriage act yet. It was only when Jiang Ziquan returned home to open up a restaurant and the marriage act was passed that Chen Chen and Su Yan were finally able to act like a proper married couple.

“Alright, let’s eat.” Lin Cuo sat down with one of the girls in her arms. The two girls ate quietly and were not picky eaters. Lin Cuo’s maternal instincts burst out with love and her eyes almost never left the two girls.

Jiang Ziquan didn’t mind kids either and looking at the two beautiful children, she stared at her food as she imagined her and Shen Yumo’s future kids. Shen Yumo is more beautiful than Su Yan and since she is slightly prettier than Chen Chen, their children will definitely be even more adorable. Thinking like this, for some reason, the potato in her mouth tasted better than anything she has ever eaten.

“Are you thinking about Teacher Shen again?” Chen Chen pointed at Jiang Ziquan’s flushed face and teased, “Your smile is so rottenly bright, please be mindful that there is still a single person here.”

Lin Cuo who was innocently eating her food, rolled her eyes and frowned, “And what’s wrong with being single? I just haven’t found the right person yet, okay?”

“En. Well, I’m going to call Teacher Shen now.” Jiang Ziquan smirked and then set down her chopsticks. She left without a second glance.

Chen Chen grabbed each child in one hand and also said, “I’m going to bring the two children to their mommy, so I’ll be leaving now. Bye.”

Lin Cuo: “……”

Could it be that I’m a professional single dog whose only purpose is to swallow all this annoying dog food?

She glanced down at the food on the table. Oh, right, I still have to clean up the dishes.

Su Yan took off her sunglasses as he watched the group approaching her, one adult and two children. The icy face that was perpetually frozen finally cracked out a smile. If Jiang Ziquan saw her, she might just die from the shock. Su Yan quickly walked up to the two kids, “Are you full?”

“En. I’m betting that the kids overate.” Chen Chen patted the kids’ heads and then reached up to gently pat Su Yan’s head. She had to stand on the tips of her toes because Su Yan was wearing high heels, but the soft feeling was the same for all three. She had to stand on the tips of her toes to pat Su Yan’s head.

“Why are you patting my head for?” Su Yan smirked but didn’t stop her and her bright eyes stared straight into her soul, not wavering in the slightest.

The two little girls broke that tender moment as they pulled on Su Yan’s legs. They cried out for their mothers in a soft voice that would cause any person’s heart to break. Su Yan hadn’t spent much time with the children lately, so they wanted to be spoiled by her. She looked helplessly at them and then at Chen Chen.

Chen Chen sighed and had no choice but to let the children do what they wanted. Her children were even more honest than their mother.

Meanwhile, on Shen Yumo’s side of things, the festivities were in full gear. She is a married woman now so she was obligated to pay a visit to the Jiang Family’s home. Although she understood this custom, she couldn’t make up her mind to go because Jiang Ziquan wasn’t there. Mrs. Jiang also understood this and she didn’t want Shen Yumo to feel embarrassed in front of all her relatives and after discussing it with Jian IZquan, she waved her hands and told her she didn’t need to come.

Shen Yumo agreed with her parents to go visit her mother’s hometown instead. Shen Yumo’s father was an orphan and so naturally they didn’t have any relatives to visit on his side. Her mother, on the other hand, had a younger brother, a younger sister, and a grandmother that was still alive. Recently, the old lady’s health had been declining so she wanted the entire family to come over for New Year’s one last time.

The village was only about an hour’s drive away, and the three of them were in no hurry as they drove over.

Her uncle’s family also had a daughter who was only a year younger than Shen Yumo. She had been working overseas for the past few years and sometimes wouldn’t return home for the holidays, but she hurried home when she heard that Shen Yumo got married.

Shen Yumo dragged the suitcase up the step and rang the doorbell. Instantly, the door opened and Yu Chengjia’s familiar face smiled at her. This is her uncles’ daughter. Her short hair lined her sharp jaw and she was full of youth.

“You’re here.” Yu Chenjia excitedly wrapped Shen Yumo into a big hug and looked over her shoulder. Although she already knew that Jiang Ziquan was not coming, Yu Chenjia couldn’t help but feel slightly disappointed. She smiled, “Aunt, Uncle, nice to see you again. Come on in.”

Jiang Ziquan called Shen Yumo, but she didn’t pick up. She had already taken into account the time difference, so at this time Shen Yumo should not be asleep.

Shen Yumo was in the middle of fiddling with an envelope and the corners of her mouth curved up as she hurriedly picked it up.

Now that she thought about it, they hadn’t had a phone or video call for a week now. She didn’t keep track of the dates, but Jiang Ziquan had said she would call her every Friday at 9:30. It’s been a week now and today was Friday as well, but the time is 9:40.

Her thoughts were lost in this spiral of randomness when an aggrieved voice sounded in her ears.

“Teacher Shen, why didn’t you pick up earlier?”

Shen Yumo raised an eyebrow and looked at the screen in her hands, and saw that expression full of sorrow.

Oh, is she complaining that I didn’t answer the phone in time?

“It’s because I just heard the phone ring.”

Jiang Ziquan shrugged and let it go, after all, why would she argue with Shen Yumo? She coughed a few times awkwardly and then smiled again.

She Yumo listened to her talk and realized that Jiang Ziquan was walking on a beach right now. The salty sea air breezed through her hair as she took off her shoes to feel the sand beneath her feet. Her long hair cascaded down her shoulder and a few stray hairs stuck to her neck. The beach was full of activity as the locals partied without restraint.

When Jiang Ziquan talked, those bright eyes exuded an air of confidence. Shen Yumo looked at her lips that were somewhat pale, probably because she removed her usual red lipstick. She watched as Jiang Ziquan walked home and the scenery changed,  the background was a white bed that was covered in little trinkets. They were the souvenirs Jiang Ziquan had bought last time when they went up north. The small scholar stones, the blue hairpins, and Opera masks were blocked slightly by Jiang Ziquan’s body.

She smiled. It was unbelievable. Leave it to Jiang Xiquan to make a foreign place like Country M feel like she was still in a small town in China.

“I want to enjoy the scenery with you next time.” Jiang Ziquan also smiled when she saw Shen Yumo smile, although her cheeks hurt a bit from all that smile.

Shen Yumo gave her a look and asked, “Didn’t you go there to work?”

Jiang Ziquan could already guess what the next line was going to be, ‘I only see you playing every day but I don’t see you working.’ Something like that.

However, it was wrong to accuse her of not working. These past few days, she was dragged all over the place to meet famous foreign designers. Her brain has gone numb from just trying to remember their designs, not to mention the lectures afterward. She had only slept about three or four hours a day, so it was already a miracle that she was still alive.

Today, Chen Chen let her go and enjoy the scenery of Country M. She naturally took this opportunity to have fun and dragged Lin Cuo along with her.

“I have something to show you.” Shen Yumo lifted the envelope in her hands, an envelope that was already yellowing on the edges. It looked like it was written a long time ago.

Jiang Ziquan glared and frowned a little. It couldn’t be that some random kid sent her a love letter, right? I’ve only been gone for a few days!

She forced out a smile and pretended to be relaxed as she asked, “Who sent it?”

Shen Yumo did not answer and pulled out the letter from the envelope as she set her phone down. Fearing that she might receive some emotional damage, Jiang Ziquan braced herself.

Shen Yumo cleared her throat: “《Hey, are you late?》”

As a literature teacher, she naturally was good at expressing emotion in her words and that one line sounded both like a whisper between lovers and a sentence to a dear friend.

Jiang Ziquan heard that sentence clearly, but she frowned in thought. For some reason, it seemed really familiar to her.

Then as if a box was unlocked, a memory from long ago instantly poured in her mind. Her eyes widened and she quickly moved closer to the screen, wanting to see the next few lines.

However, Shen Yumo seemed to have prepared for this and placed the letter far from the screen so Jiang Ziquan could not see even half of a word.

She gave Shen Yumo a trembling look and her fears were confirmed as Shen Yumo nodded. Jiang Ziquan’s face instantly burst into a furious red blush and she held her head in her hands. She forced out two short sentences, “I still have things to do. Bye.”

Shen Yumo looked at her blackened screen and then smiled. Unexpectedly, a day has come where Jiang Ziquan was the one running away. She picked up the letter and read it again.

She really wanted to believe that the Jiang family, and especially Jiang Ziquan, really did have that ability.

  2. What? Can lesbians create test tube babies in this universe or something? The way they talked about the children, it sounded like they were biological and not adopted.

  3. So it seem lesbians can have babies in this universe somehow, I’d somehow expected it when Ziquan’s mom had told her when she was going to have kids but didn’t mention adoption or anything, and also a few comments from Ziquan about having kids, pretty interesting, truly the world the author wishes for eh?

While it didn’t come outta nowhere Chen chen being married to Su Yan is a bit surprising since I thought Su Yan would have another role but that’s pretty interesting in itself, Chen chen didn’t seem like the romance type though and then just Wham! Appears with two children from outta nowhere.

It is pretty weird why she decided to show them to Ziquan now no? I mean they’ve been friends for a long time and all, did the author pull it out of her ass? But then again it seems this was kinda planned ever since Su Yan was mentioned so maybe not?

Welp I guess it’s cuz Ziquan is gonna work for her now in an important position and all? But they were supposed very good friends and all … Welp whatever she felt like it now that she met Su Yan or something. .

I did forget to mention before that indeed Ziquan’s families love at first sight ability is a damn cheat, knowing a person you’ll be able to love eh? Wished we all came equipped with such a function, guess we missed that patch.

I mean sure I’m sure we’d still find a way to fuck it up but I think we’d habe a mich better chance at happiness like that, sure with Ziquan’s family if the other party rejects them for whatever reason I’m thinking they won’t take it very well, but hey just the chance of finding your soulmate? Yeah I’d take it.

Reminds me of “The 100 girlfriends who really really really really really love me” a great fucking manga, the first true harem ever lol.

What was that at the end ? Do Ziquan’s family also have some weird prophecy and she remembered with that card? Are their families somehow connected?

Sooooo who’s Lin Cuo’s partner? Yumo’s cousin? I doubt it’s one of the daughters ….
