Received A Wife From The Civil Affairs Bureau Ch.47

When Shen Yumo returned from work, she saw that the car was still outside and had not moved even an inch. She guessed that meant Jiang Ziquan had not gone out today but never expected to find her still fast asleep. After the events of yesterday, she should be the one lying on the bed completely passed out from exhaustion. Yet, this person in front of her was even sleeping with a sleep mask on her face. This fact caused her to feel a little annoyed.

It meant that even after the long night they had, she still had the strength to get out of bed and find her sleep mask to put on her face. While she could barely keep her sleepy eyes open near the end of it.

The clothes were still scattered all across the floor, a testament to the intenseness of yesterday’s situation. Shen Yumo glanced at her watch, it was almost half-past eleven. Usually, she didn’t leave work so early, however, she did so today because she wanted to have lunch with Jiang Ziquan.

Bright sunlight shined through the windows and lit up the dark room.

Jiang Ziquan seemed to sense a change in the room and shifted a little, her hand fumbling around for the remote control on her bedside table. She pressed a button and immediately the curtains slowly started closing.

And the room was once again engulfed in darkness.

Shen Yumo: “….”

She helplessly looked at Jiang Ziquan, who was still sleeping on her stomach. She saw that she wasn’t even dressed yet and the blankets had moved to the side just now, revealing a large part of her back. On that fair and smooth back, several red scratches marred the otherwise flawless skin. Shen Yumo blushed at the sight as those scratches were caused by her own hands and just thinking about the event of last night made her blush even harder.

She walked over and patted the sleeping person gently: “Hey, it’s time to get up.”

Jiang Ziquan opened her eyes in confusion and saw it was Shen Yumo. In a hoarse voice, she replied, “I know.”

“En.” Shen Yumo pulled back her arm and nodded. Then, taking advantage of her sobered state of mind, she asked, “Oh, by the way, who is Zhe Shuang?”

Although she didn’t hear it clearly, she vaguely remembered that Jiang Ziquan called out this person’s name last night. She was dreaming then and there was a hint of sadness in her voice when she said that name.

Jiang Ziquan heard her words and her mind immediately woke up. Thoughts of Zhe Shuang and Qingyan came flooding back into her brain like a movie, she remembered everything with vivid accuracy. She stood and gathered her clothes before saying just two words, “No one.”

When Jiang Ziquan got out of the bed, Shen Yumo had turned around and looked away. Her brain was filled with images of last night and she patted her flaming cheeks as she tried to calm down. She then thought of something and turned towards the bed to replace the sheets. She lifted the covers and saw drops of crimson on it, causing her to cough in embarrassment.

“What time is it? Did you get off work already?” Jiang Ziquan turned around, holding her clothes in her arms only to see Teacher Shen’s back facing her.

“It’s almost twelve.” Shen Yumo replied and turned towards her. However, before she could say anything else, she felt Jiang Ziquan approaching her and could even smell a faint fragrant scent.

Jiang Ziquan stared at the blushing Shen Yumo in front of her and felt her heart tighten. She stared deeply into her eyes and wanted to say something, only to have a bed sheet cover her vision.

“Y-you! Quickly go put on your clothes.” Shen Yumo stammered, refusing to look at her.

In her heart, Jiang Ziquan grumbled that Shen Yumo should’ve covered her own eyes instead of throwing a bed sheet at her. However, she reached out an arm instead and hugged Shen Yumo into her embrace.

Although Shen Yumo was wearing clothes, she could still feel the high body temperature coming from the other person. She didn’t dare to touch Jiang Ziquan’s skin and kept her hands in the air, trying to put some distance between them. Who would’ve thought that Jiang Ziquan didn’t have any shame at all and she tried to squirm out of her grip but that only caused her own body temperature to rise.

“Do you have any classes in the afternoon?”

Jiang Ziquan whispered softly in her ear, the charming voice causing Shen Yumo to soften. Then she paused and realized that Jiang Ziquan was up to no good again. She vigorously pushed her away and stumbled backward.

“I do, I have classes in the afternoon.” Shen Yumo glared at her and picked up the sheets before hurrying out the door: “Hurry up and change, I’m cooking lunch.”

Jiang Ziquan smiled softly and called after her, “Are you tired? Should we order takeout instead?”

“I’m not tired.”

Jiang Ziquan didn’t pursue the subject any further and quickly changed into her clothes. She touched the jade around her neck, lovingly caressing it. Inside still lay the hair Zhe Shuang gave Qingyan. It was said that practitioners would give a piece of their hair to the one they love the most. However, because it was so beautifully made and also a gift from Zhe Shuang, Qingyan could not bear to open it and accidentally break it. Therefore, she never knew about the other person’s attention.

Jiang Ziquan washed her face and came out to the kitchen. She saw Shen Yumo setting down the plates and watched as she looked up at her with a smile: “Put on your makeup later, let’s eat first.”

“En.” Jiang Ziquan assisted her with the plates and even carefully helped Shen Yumo sit down. Recently, she read some books that told her that after doing that one must be extra considerate to the other party, but after that dream she had, she hadn’t had the opportunity to do so yet. She wasn’t in the right state of mind when she woke up and scratched her head sheepishly as she realized her mistake.

Shen Yumo did not know about the conflicting thoughts in her heart and watched her take a bite of the chicken wings. She watched as Jiang Ziquan paused a little, but then continued eating like nothing was wrong. After watching her eat more and more, she couldn’t stand it anymore. The truth was, in order to get revenge for the fact that Jiang Ziquan got to sleep in while she didn’t, she added extra salt to the meat dishes. She didn’t even need to taste them to know how salty they were.

“Is it good?” Shen Yumo asked, looking straight into her eyes.

“Ah?” Jiang Ziquan paused for a second. She naturally felt that today’s lunch was a little salty, but then she remembered how Zhe Shuang didn’t eat any meat for Qingyan’s sake. Teacher Shen also didn’t like to eat meat in this life and yet she was still so good at cooking. She felt like she should be more grateful so even if Teacher Shen accidentally put too much salt she will eat the food. Furthermore, it wasn’t that bad nor something hard to swallow.

Not to mention, since Teacher Shen doesn’t eat meat, she probably doesn’t know what it tastes like. That means she can pretend for a little while and probably won’t be discovered. She smiled and replied, “It’s delicious.”

Hearing those words, Shen Yumo placed her chopsticks down and lowered her eyes. She lost her cool a little: “Why are you lying?”

“I obviously put so much salt in it and yet you keep eating it and saying it’s delicious.” Shen Yumo choked on her words, tears spilling from her eyes: “I did it on purpose. I did it on purpose.”

“Wuwuwuwu.”

Jiang Ziquan felt bewildered. She had no idea why Teacher Shen was crying and hurriedly hugged her. She comforted her softly, “Yes, yes, yes, you did that on purpose.”

Although I have no idea why you deliberately put extra salt in my food and still let me eat it.

“Then, how about this, next time if it’s too salty I will just say it tastes bad, okay?” Jiang Ziquan offered. She suspected that maybe Teacher Shen didn’t like others deceiving her even for a small thing like this.

Suddenly she felt a pain on her waist and stopped the groan that almost came out of her mouth. It seemed she had no skills in coaxing people and asked, “Then what do you want me to do?”

Shen Yumo wiped her tears, feeling embarrassed. She was an adult now and yet she still cried over something so insignificant: “Just do whatever you want.” Seeing the other person scratch her head in confusion, and chuckled, “It has nothing to do with you, I’m just feeling wronged.”

“Please, if you feeling wronged has nothing to do with me then what else could it possibly be?” Although they were both women, Jiang Ziquan really couldn’t guess what was going on in Teacher Shen’s brain. This was actually her first time seeing Shen Yumo outright crying and it surprised her a little.

“It really has nothing to do with you.”

Jiang Ziquan looked at her and knowing she was thin-skinned, she changed her wording, “Then, tell me, why did you deliberately put so much salt in the food?”

“Aiya, it’s just I feel annoyed seeing you wake up later than me.” Shen Yumo said embarrassedly, her eyes not meeting Jiang Ziquan’s. She then muttered, “I’m obviously the one who is more tired.”

“Pfftt!” Jiang Ziquan stifled a laugh and then sat up as she nodded with a smile:” I told you before, my physical strength and endurance are very good.” She leaned in closer and whispered, “Did you not realize this fact yesterday?”

Shen Yumo glared at her and bit her lip, “Then how come you woke up so late?”

Cough, I promise to get up early next time. Come on, don’t be angry anymore. Please~” Jiang Ziquan didn’t continue arguing. She never expected to have such a long dream and she didn’t want to tell Teacher Shen about it, it was better if she was the only one who remembers those painful things.

After eating, Jiang Ziquan washed the dishes and gathered the clothes to put them in the wash.

“Ziquan.”

“En?” Jiang Ziquan’s hands stopped and looked at her questioningly.

“M-my class doesn’t start till four.”

Jiang Ziquan remembered the words she had said to tease her earlier. So it seemed that Shen Yumo had understood the subtext of her words. She watched as Shen Yumo’s hands fidgeted, laughing a little at the ‘determined to face even death with composure’ expression on her face: “Ok, wait a minute.”

“Oh.”

However, when she returned, Jiang Ziquan didn’t expect that Teacher Shen would be in her own room and not hers. Shen Yumo was reading something on the bed as she slowly walked into the room with her guard up, her eyes shifting to the eight-trigrams scroll. Now she knew that Su Qingwen’s description wasn’t exactly accurate. The trigrams were formed from Shen Qingyan’s blood to help keep them together in the next life, but it seems that after so many years it had turned into an aphrodisiac array instead.

Seeing her come in, Shen Yumo moved a little to the side and whispered, “It’s because your bed is so small.”

Jiang Ziquan felt abashed. When she slept by herself, the bed was big enough but yesterday they had almost rolled onto the floor because of how tiny her bed was. Despite her conflicting thoughts, she lifted the blankets and quickly laid down.

“Why are you so nervous/” Shen Yumo also was feeling nervous earlier but seeing Jiang Ziquan more nervous than herself, she actually calmed down.

“It’s nothing.” Jiang Ziquan felt helpless. What was she supposed to say? That she was afraid of the effects from the eight trigrams array? That if she didn’t control herself Teacher Shen might not even be able to go to her afternoon class? If that happened, a single ‘sorry’ was not going to fix anything.

Shen Yumo nodded sleepily and didn’t say anything. She had slept late last night and had to get up early today, so she was exhausted. With a familiar scent in her nose and the feeling of safety, she quickly fell asleep while they talked.

Jiang Ziquan heard the sound of steady breathing beside her and calmed down. Strangely, her body felt fine and nothing seemed out of the sorts. She let out a sigh of relief and reached out to hold Shen Yumo in her arms. Shen Yumo stirred a little but didn’t wake in the end as she snuggled deeper into her arms.

Damn we’re almost done hu? Welp their relationship has reached that point where they’re both deeply in love with each other so while sad I guess it is time to go.

Kinda sad that only Ziquan will know the truth though, id like to know of such past events, it’d bring me comfort knowing I’d been able to reunite with someone I loved, but welp it is what it is. After knowing all that it makes me happy seeing them together.

Hehe cuddling? How Lewd! What’s next handholding?
