The Transmigration Missions Are Not Scientific Ch.14

Chapter 14-Campus novel (13)

When Gu Anran woke up the next morning, the person next to her was gone. She rubbed her sleepy eyes and then touched her forehead. It seems that her fever was gone too.

She got up and walked to the bathroom, knocking twice on the closed door. Although this wasn’t some romantic comedy, Gu Anran wanted to be safe, she didn’t want to open the door and then see something she shouldn’t. Then a series of cliches will occur…cough….getting off topic…but, it’s common courtesy to knock first anyways, right? ╮(╯_╰)╭

After making sure there was no one in it, Gu Anran coughed and went in. Then she came back out, still wearing her pajamas. Since her mother has asked the school for a week off, she naturally was quite casual in her choice of wear.

Anyhow, it’s already way past nine, Mu Qingli should’ve left by now, so the house should be empty.

Thinking like this, Gu Anran climbed down the stairs and walked in on an unexpected scene. From a distance she could see Mu Qingli whose shadow she hadn’t seen all morning setting up the breakfast on the table with the help of Aunt Zhang.

When Mu Qingli lifted her head, she saw the frozen Gu Anran standing on the stairs.

“Ran~, you’re awake! Come down and eat some breakfast!”

“Don’t you need to go to class?” Gu Anran quickly walked down the last few steps of stairs and arrived at the table.

“Since I overslept today, I thought it would be better to ask for the day off!” Mu Qingli smiled brightly without any guilt or shame at all.

(|||д) Is this the same female lead that I know? Where did that goody two shoes go? How can you naturally and so carelessly laugh it off by saying you overslept?

“Miss Mu woke up quite early to help me with the breakfast! And it’s no exaggeration to say that her cooking skills are excellent!” Aunt Zhang smiled.

“Oh you’re praising me too much, I’m still only learning.”

Then the two began discussing the cooking recipe quite happily. One of them said something and the other laughed. For someone like Gu Anran who couldn’t even cook boiled eggs without ruining it, she couldn’t join the conversation at all. So what if she could join the conversation? Could she could tell them about her experience in burning food? Or which charred food tastes the best? Might as well lower one’s head and eat breakfast quietly so one can reduce their sense of presence….

Wuuu….this rice porridge is so delicious…these poached eggs are divine….this lettuce salad…let’s put that away. Oh! The freshly baked bread is so fluffy! And paired with some jam…en…this milk is warmed to the most optimal temperature…ah, this is heaven~!

Gu Anran wanted to peacefully pass the time so she could enjoy this feast before her, but such a reality is impossible. As the saying goes, three women are enough for a drama, and as one of the actors, how could she be ignored?

And so…the topic of conversation shifted to her.

“Does little Ran know how to cook?” Mu Qingli turned her head and asked.

“Huh?” After suddenly being asked a question, Gu Anran paused, and the hand reaching for another slice of bread stopped too.

Gulp…swallowing the food in her mouth, Gu Anran tried to answer, but was beaten by Aunt Zhang who said,

“The Young Miss doesn’t cook but she is very good at baking cookies! The small cookies she bakes are simply delicious! During the holidays she would always make a few batches, however, ever since high school, she’s been so busy that she simply hasn’t had the time to bake anymore!” Saying so, Aunt Zhang then turned to look at Gu Anran with pity.

What? The original owner of this body actually knows how to make cookies? How come I didn’t know this earlier? Although I never asked, I still didn’t expect this! The Gu Anran who thought like this almost choked at Mu Qingli’s next sentence.

“Really? So Little Ran can bake cookies! I really want to try some myself!” Mu Qingli said excitedly, I really, really, really want to eat Anran’s handmade cookies!!!

“Right! Young Miss, since Madam has called in sick and excused your absence from school for you, why not take this rare free time to make some cookies? It will make Mr. Gu and Madam will be very happy if you do!”

Looking at the two pairs of bright eyes, Gu Anran felt a great pressure! Although this body’s original owner knew how to make cookies, but…I DON’T KNOW HOW TOO!!! AHHHHH!!! How can you force a cooking idiot to make cookies?!!! Please have a little conscience! (/‵Д′)/~ ╧╧

But of course, Gu Anran couldn’t say these things out loud. If a person who previously knew how to make cookies, suddenly tells you she doesn’t know how to, wouldn’t it seem like a slap to your face? And it would definitely offend the other person!

To refuse or to agree…Gu Anran felt a cold drop of weat slide down her forehead…

In Gu Anran’s room….

“Hahahahaha, so you actually agreed!” Hong Qingyi’s voice came over the phone, laughing freely.

“How can you still laugh, I’m in trouble over here!” Gu Anran whispered frantically, gritting her teeth, She had just locked herself in her room, stating that she hadn’t made cookies for several weeks so she needed time to think about it. The computer in front of her was full of different articles, teaching her how to make cookies, what type of materials are needed, etc. There were over a dozen tabs opened on the computer.

For now, she could only start with the basic things, such as the process, the baking time, etc. With her fairly good memory, Gu Anran was able to memorize about 80% of the information and she chose the most simplest recipe, the sugar cookie. It was the kind of cookie that didn’t need many materials, so it was the best introductory recipe for beginners. So if Mu Qingli asks this and that, she would at least be able to answer a few simple questions!

Knock, Knock. After knocking a few times, Mu Qingli’s voice could be hear from outside the door,

“Little Ran, the materials are prepared! Are you done thinking yet?”

The Gu Anran who was staring intensely at the computer screen, re-read the recipe again before finally feeling that she had remembered it. The she opened the door and forced out a smile,

“Alright, let’s do this.”

“En, what are you going to make?” Mu Qingli followed behind and asked.

“Well, let’s make some sugar cookies! It can pair with many different types of flavors and we can make large batches of them.” That’s assuming I can make them….

“Oh! No wonder Aunt Zhang has prepared so many things. It turns out there’s going to be a lot of different flavors!” Mu Qingli made an enlightened expression.

A lot of things? Don’t you only need some sugar, flour, water and some cooking utensils? Gu Anran walked into the kitchen full of doubt.

Gu Anran “…..” Why are there actual pieces of chocolate blocks, not chocolate powder and strawberries along with matcha powder…the coffee beans that haven’t been grinded yet are the most normal….there are many boxes…they must weigh a lot….this woman must be playing with me…

Maybe it was because Gu Anran was frozen in frustration for too long so Aunt Zhang looked at her strangely and asked,

“Young Miss, is something wrong?”

“Nothing, it’s just…these things…” Gu Anran pointed to the boxes.

“Young Miss, you have alway insisted on making all powder yourself, because you said that the materials brought from outside have too much artificial flavoring. Also… Young Miss since you like strawberries the most, Madam likes chocolate and matcha, and Mr. Gu likes coffee, so I have prepared all these ingredients.”

Fu*k! Was the original owner mentally sick or ate too much? What do I do now? Now you want me to make powder from scratch? Isn’t this too demanding for a first timer? I don’t know how to make this!!!

So…what to do?

Gu Anran was suddenly glad that there was a smart screen installed in the counter, so she can search things up. Otherwise she would have to go back and forth between her room and the kitchen. What was the use of memorizing then?!!

Since there were recipes on her side, she was able to make some strawberry jam, coffee and chocolate sauce in two hours. However, they could be only considered barely acceptable in cooking terms.

Furthermore, the two pairs of eyes constantly watching her made her feel quite stressed. Good thing she wasn’t using knives or else it would’ve been terrible. Her cooking skills were also a mess, when forced to, she might be able to cook some instant noodles, and compared to Hong Qingyi, it was like comparing kitchen waste with a culinary chef ….

Never knew I had some affinity with baking, at least it’s better than my cooking skills…

After preparing the ingredients, she started making the cookies….

Put the batter into the baking tray and then set it into the oven. The cookies are somewhat thin, so one cannot put it in there for too long! One must watch and wait for the cookies to turn a golden brown!

After waiting for nearly ten minutes, the first batch was completed. The baking pan was brought to the kitchen, and the kitchen was full of the smell of freshly baked cookies. Gu Anran felt very satisfied with her work.

But then seeing the 20 trays still left on the counter, she felt powerless. Just how long will it take to bake all this!!! Won’t it be at least a few days? Don’t tell me you want me to eat cookies for three meals everyday?!!

“Little Ran, I will set the cookies outside to cool!” Mu Qingli tooke the tray from Gu Anran and sniffed it. Ah, it smells so nice~~~

“Ok, remember to cool it down with a fan.” Gu Anran nodded as she stirred the batter. The computer said that after baking, to let the cookies cool down quickly, so they will be crispy and delicious.

Gu Anran continued to repeat the process and sent tray after tray into the oven. After the nth batch, all the batter finally ran out and Gu Anran felt that her hands were about to fall off and her entire body was sore. Looking at the clock it was already six, so she spent a full five hours baking! And such 「intense labor」too, it was a miracle she hadn’t died yet!

Slumped on the sofa, and looking at the boxes of cookies, there were at least 50 boxes! Wouldn’t anyone get sick from eating all that?!!

“Little Ran, you’ve worked hard!” Mu Qingli wiped Gu Anran’s face with a cool moist towel, looked at the gigantic pile of cookies and asked, “Little Ran, what flavor do you want to eat?”

Although Aunt Zhang said that Gu Anran liked strawberries, she didn’t think this was true. When they ate with each other, Gu Anran never touched anything with strawberries. It would be more likely that Gu Anran would eat a chocolate or coffee flavored cookie.

“I’ll have a chocolate and coffee cookie.” Gu Anran said directly. Aunt Zhang was cleaning up the utensils and preparing for dinner, so why should she restrain herself and eat those damned strawberry cookies? Since there are so many cookies, she’ll eat whatever she wants!

Enjoying the pampered feeling of getting a massage and being feeded by Mu Qingli, she looked like a lazy cat, and this lazy appearance caused the nearby Mu Qingli to smile.

Without them knowing their interactions were being watched, Aunt Zhang snapped a few photos and then sent them.

Ding! Ding! Ding! At the Gu company, Wang Qinghua’s phone vibrated a few times before calming back down.
