A few days later, Gu Anran and Hong Qingyi both received a newsletter from the Mu company. It was a  notice of their success in getting the job. And today was their first day of work. 

“Ahhh…Qingyi, why are we going out so early?” Gu Anran yawned. It was still gray outside and looking at her watch it was only 6 am. Didn’t their jobs start at 8 am?

“What are you even saying! As a secretary, naturally we must arrive early! This is our duty!” Hong Qingyi proclaimed loudly with her hands on her hips. 

How embarrassing…Gu Anran covered her face, wanting to her face from the piercing gazes of several people looking their way.

In the end, the two of them arrived at the Mu company at 6:30 am and the door hasn’t even opened yet. So the two sat at a table in the breakfast cafe across from the company and waited for their food. 

Sipping her milk tea, Gu Anran asked, 

“Now that Little Qing and Little Yan don’t know who we are, what are you going to do?” 

“Of course it’s to pester them and use all our strength to hold onto them and then never let go!” Chewing on her toast, Hong Qingyi said it as if it was something everyone should know already.

“But Little Qing has turned into a cold iceberg…wouldn’t pestering her and never letting go have the opposite effect?” Gu Anran rested her chin in her hand. 

“En? I think it’s quite the appropriate strategy for both. It’s just that I’m still not used to this version of Little Yan…the her from before and now…well how do I put it…it’s like their two different types…” Hong Qingyi stopped talking again. 

This caught Gu Anran’s attention, she was quite curious about this new development. Previously, Chi Mengyan was the quiet type, so what was she like now? Why was even her own teammate not willing to say anything?

As they continued to chat, it was finally time to work and traffic slowly increased. 

“Qingyi, the doors have been open for half an hour now, why aren’t you going in?” Gu Anran gave the Hong Qingyi who was biting her straw a strange look. 

The doors had opened at 7, and just as Gu Anran thought about getting up, she was pulled back down by Hong Qingyi.

“I-I feel nervous…”

“You’ve been saying that for the last half an hour! There must be a limit to how nervous you can be. Besides, if you’re this nervous before seeing Chi Mengyan how are you going to latch onto her and never let go?” Gu Anran tilted her head. 

“You don’t understand….” Hong Qingyi repeated, making Gu Anran want to throw her empty cup at her face. 

“If you keep this up…we’re going to be late. So if you’re not leaving, then I’m leaving.” Saying so, she picked up her bag and walked out of the cafe. 

“Alright, alright…I get it! Wait for me!” Hong Qingyi quickly grabbed her own bag and followed after Gu Anran.

As they walked into the company, a pretty looking receptionist walked over with a polite smile and asked, 

“May I ask who…”

“Ah, I am Gu Anran, I was here earlier for an interview and was hired to be the Vice President’s secretary.”

“I am Hong Qingyi and I was hired to be the secretary for manager Chi Mengyan.”

“I see. Then may I ask the two of you two please show your IDs and the hiring notices you received.” The receptionist nodded. 

After confirming their identities, the receptionist picked up the phone and then said a few words to the party on the other end. Soon after, a young man walked over. 

“Hello, my name is Chen Guangwen.” Wearing a smile as bright as his name [1], he nodded at the receptionist and then looked at Gu Anran and Hong Qingyi.

“Miss Gu, Miss Hong, please follow Little Chen. He will introduce you to the workplace and go over some basic rules.” After saying those words, the lady bowed and turned to welcome a new pair of people walking in. 

“Then may I ask the two lovely ladies to follow me. Oh, you can call me Little Chen, everyone here calls me that.” With a hearty laugh, Chen Guangwen led the two into the elevator.

“What should I call you two?”

“I’m Hong Qingyi, but you can just call me Qingyi.” Hong Qingyi greeted Chen Guangwen with a polite and proper attitude. 

“My name is Gu Anran, you can call me Anran.” Gu Anran also greeted him with a polite attitude, but with more alienation. Yet, even that couldn’t tone down Chen Guangwen’s enthusiasm. 

However, because of Chen Guangwen’s lively attitude and good relations in the company, they were also able to borrow some of his brightness and established a good impression on the co-workers they met on the way. Shortly after, they entered a certain area and discussed their main priorities, which was to wait upon..cough…to work for their respective bosses. 

“Vice President Mu and Manager Chi are inside. You two must go inside there yourself, I’ll be leaving first.” For the first time, Chen Guangwen wore a serious expression and then quickly turned around and left. 

“Shall we go in?” Gu Anran asked Hong Qingyi. 

“En…”

Smoothing out her collar, Gu Anran knocked on the door. 

“Come in.” A cold voice replied. 

Creak… Gu Anran pushed open the door and then immediately froze.

“Uh…sorry to disturb you!” 

Bang! 

Gu Anran quickly closed the door and then turned around and grabbed Hong Qingyi’s shoulders. She shook her violently as she shouted,

“Do you know what I just saw?! Your wife and my wife were hugging each other! Your wife was even laying her head on my wife’s lap! But even I haven’t gotten that type of treatment yet!!”

Even if one looked past the lap pillow, the other was even rubbing their face against her Little Qing’s stomach! Ahhhhh! I haven’t even had a lap pillow yet! 

“Calm…calm down.” Finally, Hong Qingyi escaped her grasp and steadied herself as she felt a wave of nausea.

Meanwhile, inside the office…

“Get up.” Pushing her friend off her legs, Mu Qingli’s face flashed with a trace of annoyance. This display (prank) that her friend pulled seemed to have scared the cute little fellow!! 

“Hahahaha…” Chi Mengyan laughed, lying on the floor. 

“So, Qingli, this is the little fellow you took a fancy too? She seems very ordinary! Hahaha!” 

If Gu Anran saw this, she would’ve been frightened to death. Because the gentle and quiet Chi Mengyan she knew was now a charming young lady who wore light makeup that brought out her beauty even more. 

Mu Qingli glanced down at Chi Mengyan,

“Isn’t the person you like the same? And please don’t try to pounce on that girl and kiss her. You don’t want to get in trouble again, otherwise, how would others think about our company?” 

“Aiya~ Aiya~ You’ve been saying that kind of stuff non-stop these several days. Mind you I’m a very picky person, so it’s not my fault that the little girl is so cute. When she first saw me, she was shocked frozen and even acted so shy afterward (Hong Qingyi was actually trying not to cry←←). People can’t help but want to bully her.” Chi Mengyan sat up and carelessly crossed her legs. She picked up Mu Qingli’s coffee and directly drunk from it. 

“That’s my coffee…”

“Oh? Oops~ Well, it doesn’t matter!” Chi Mengyan took another sip. 

“I’m going to tell them to come in, I don’t see how we can work like this.” Mu Qingli watched as her coffee was stolen by another and now was in no mood to discuss work matters. She placed the documents in her hands on the table and stood up. 

Creak…With the door suddenly opening, Gu Anran and Hong Qingyi jumped back in fright. 

“Little….Vice President Mu.”

“Vice President Mu.”

“En…come in!” Mu Qingli tried to come across as kind and smiled. However, for a person who never smiled, even as she tried to raise the corners of her mouth, most would not be able to tell she was smiling. It only moved up by five degrees. 

Wuooo…she smiled! Gu Anran had been carefully observing Mu Qingli the entire time, so she was able to see the small smile on her face. At the same time, in her heart she acted like a love-struck fool….whaaa, my wife is sooo beautiful! I want to kiss her!

“Hey…you’re drooling!”

“What-” Gu Anran automatically touched her chin, but found that it was dry without feeling the slightest bit wet. That’s when she immediately knew what she had been tricked. Gu Anran turned her head and glared towards the culprit who lied to her. Hateful! How dare you make me lose face in front of my wi-

“Ah!” Suddenly a face entered Gu Anran’s vision, causing her to scream.

“Hahahaha! Not bad, not bad! Very cute!” Chi Mengyan reached out, grabbed Gu Anran’s face and began pinching and stretching Gu Anran’s cheeks. 

“Wuuu…whhhaaa areeeee ouu doinnnn(what are you doing)….”

“Ahhh~ It feels so soft!” Ignoring Gu Anran’s question, Chi Mengyan placed her hands on the back of Gu Anran’s head and pulled down.

“Uhhh….” Her nose was suddenly filled with a nice smell and there was a soft, cushiony feeling on her face….this feeling…this is…her chest! Ahhhhh! 

“Mengyan, what are you doing?” Mu Qingli asked while frowning, She didn’t realize that when she spoke those words, the temperature in the room had dropped more than ten degrees and continued to drop with each passing second. 

“I’m not doing anything. I just wanted to know how it’ll feel if I hug her. Though, I still think my little fellow is better.” Chi Mengyan said with a grin, and then let go of Gu Anran before grabbing the frozen Hong Qingyi standing at the side pulling her into a similar hug. 

“Huuu…huuu…” Gu Anran gasped, trying to breathe in more oxygen. Men always say it’s their dream to be buried in a women’s chest, I say, why don’t you give it a try! At first, it seems fun but then you can’t even breathe! This is just suffocation, okay?!!

Looking at Hong Qingyi who was ‘enjoying’ Chi Mengyan embrace, her struggle growing weaker, and weaker, by the second, Gu Anran prayed for her. Rest in peace, my friend! Then Gu Anran gently wiped away the invisible tears in her heart she had shed for her poor friend. 

Ah…is this how Chi Mengyan acted the first time they met? No wonder she was reluctant to talk about it. This behavior isn’t just a little different, her entire personality is the complete opposite from before!

“Alright, enough! Gu Anran, come in with me. Mengyan, take your secretary with you and leave!” After saying so, Mu Qingli walked back into the office. Gu Anran looked back hesitatingly at Hong Qingyi, but then noticed the smile Chi Mengyan sent her way. She hurriedly escaped into the office. If she was trapped by that woman again, it wouldn’t even be a joke anymore, she will actually die!

Okay so this arc I decided to call it the ‘Ceo novel’ arc but the direct translation would be ‘President novel’ instead. I didn’t like the sound of it so I just went with the CEO instead. Teehee~
