The Transmigration Missions Are Not Scientific Ch.36

Chapter 36-CEO novel (16)

When Mu Qingli opened her eyes, the first thing she felt was a stinging feeling on the back of her head. She reached to touch her aching head, only to find that she could not lift her arms as her limbs were tied to bedpost in a spread eagle manner.

At this point, even an idiot would’ve been able to tell that they’ve been kidnapped. However, Mu Qingli did not panic, and instead calmly studied her surroundings.

She appeared to be in a small hotel room, a very small and dim one. She also realized that there was no one in here other than herself.

She pulled against the ropes tied around her wrist and calculated the length of the rope. As she had suspected, she could barely move her hands, much less try to untie them. The rope pulled on her, not budging the least as it was tied with a dead knot. She could not break the ropes with her own strength and that meant she was not escaping anytime soon.

Ka-da……

The door creaked open and Mu Qingli turned her head towards the direction of the door to see a man with a strange smile on his pale and sickly face come in.

“You are…..Peng Yankai?” Mu Qingli frowned, she has read every piece of information on the Peng family before and naturally knew that the man in front of her was the Peng family’s only descendent in this generation, the rightful heir and next head of the Peng family.

“Qingli, I’m so happy that you remember me.” Peng Yankai sauntered over to the bed where Mu Qingli was lying helpless, a gentle smile on his face as he reached to caress her cheek.

“I am not that familiar with you, please refrain from calling me that.” Mu Qingli said with disgust, trying to avoid Peng Yankai’s touch as her heart was filled with loathing.

“My dear, are you still mad at me? I know, you must have seen me with another woman before, right? That’s why you treat me like this! But those women were just toys that my father arranged for me and I have dealt with them a long time ago. I understand your anger and you can be angry at me, but why? Just why did you have to go chasing after that Duan Hongwu!” Peng Yankai seemed to get more riled up as he continued to talk, his entire body trembling while his eyes glinted with madness. He even reached out to choke Mu Qingli’s neck, his grip tightening when he mentioned Duan Hongwu.

“L-let go…” Mu Qingli’s expression was pained and her face was flushed with an ugly red.

“Ah! I’m sorry! I’m sorry! My dear, I just got too excited! I didn’t mean to hurt you!” Peng Yankai finally recovered to his senses, releasing his hands and gently stroked her reddened neck.

“What the hell do you want?” Mu Qingli asked coldly. She could tell that Peng Yanaki’s behavior was obviously not normal, but how come she has never seen any news about this before? Listening to his monologue just now, he was even crazy enough to believe in some sick fantasy that involved her being in some kind of relationship with him.

“Oh, Qingli! This is all for us! You see, we can finally be together in the light, we don’t have to hide anymore! No one can stop us anymore! We can live here together until we grow old. Look, I have something for you.” Peng Yankai took out a box from the drawer beside the bed and pried off the lid. Inside were photos, stacks on stacks of photos with one very clear subject: Mu Qingli.

As he flipped through each photo one by one, Mu Qingli’s face grew darker and darker and she couldn’t help but shout,

“Enough!”

“Qingli, are you feeling hungry? Do you want to eat something? I’ll ask my people to prepare something for you.” Peng Yankai sat on the bed, his tone soft as he spoke.

“Release me first, I feel uncomfortable tied down.” Mu Qingli restrained her temper and tried to make her voice sound steady.

“Ok, I’ll untie if for you…..No! You are going to run off to him again! Just how is it better than me? In what way! You want to leave my side again, don’t you?! I will never let you go, never ever! I am your best choice, don’t you see? I am the one who knows you the best there is no one else who understands you better than me! I love you more than anyone else! ANYONE!” Peng Yankai punched the wall beside him, blood dripping down his broken skin but he didn’t seem to notice. He didn’t feel a thing and snarled, his eyes full of hatred instead.

Mu Qingli pursed her lips. It’s best if she doesn’t provoke this nut job right now, it wasn’t good to irritate her unstable captor. However, she couldn’t just stay like this. She didn; ’t know if Anran was hurt or injured when she was knocked out.

“I’m hungry.” At least she can get rid of this person first.

“Ok, I understand. I will immediately ask for someone to prepare your meal.” Peng Yankai walked out the door, closing the door gently as if he was afraid he would disturb the person inside. His behavior had made a complete 180, turning him into an entirely different person.

After waiting for about a minute, she confirmed there were no sounds coming from the outside. Mu Qingli then struggled to sit up, move even a little, and see if there was a sharp tool in the room that could cut the ropes.

However, why would a kidnapper willingly put such things in their prisoner’s room? So much so that there weren’t any scissors or anything remotely sharp in the entire room.

Mu Qingli was beginning to feel anxious when Peng Yankai walked into the room with a tray that emitted a delectable aroma.

“My dear, I brought you steak, Italian spaghetti, bread, pudding, and soup. These are all your favorite brands and I specially invited the best five-star chef out there to make them for you. I’m sure you’ll like it.”

Looking at the tray of food in front of her, Mu Qingli did not feel any pleasure at all from the food she liked, only uncomfortable and resentful.

To have her private life and preferences investigated by another person and it even ended up in a psycho’s hands. Just thinking about it made her feel uneasy and disgusted.

“Come, my dear, your hands are inconvenient right now so I will feed you instead.”

Yes, it was impossible for Mu Qingli to eat with her wrists bound by ropes. Just looking at Peng Yankai’s face made Mu Qingli lose her appetite, but she had no choice but to eat if she wished to maintain her strength for her escape.

She blankly swallowed the food as Peng Yankai fed her in small servings. He packed up the dishes afterward and perhaps fearing that Mu Qingli might be bored, he turned on the TV before leaving.

Mu Qingli frowned as she watched the screen in front of her, the news reporting with the headline 「Extra! Extra! Young Master Peng and Eldest Miss Mu were seen entering a hotel together!」On the screen was even a photo of Peng Yankai embracing her unconscious self, whispering into her ears as her face was turned away from the camera. They looked so intimate in that position as if they were whispering sweet nothings to each other and the pleasant atmosphere of it made Mu Qingli grit her teeth harshly.

Meanwhile, outside the hotel, Gu Anran was crouching in the shadows. From her vantage point, she can clearly see the hotel’s entrance, and the entrance was surrounded by many people in black. Around the men and women in black, were a range of gangsters standing or crouching around in groups of twos and threes. They were smoking and drinking as they seemed to be mindlessly chatting, but their eyes were constantly sweeping around and it wasn’t hard to tell they were doing surveillance.

It’s going to be difficult to infiltrate. Gu Anran frowned. She can tell at a glance that those people were minions of the Peng family and their underworld associates. She didn’t even know how many more people were in the dark, watching for even a sign of movement. Furthermore, there was no panic or alarm from the residents here, telling her that either this was a common situation or this area was under the Peng family’s jurisdiction.

“Qingyi, where are you?” Gu Anran picked up the phone and whispered.

“Anran? The situation over here is not good. We were trying to lay low to avoid their attention and not disturb the underworld in coming after us so we only called about twenty or so officers with us. We asked them to wear casual clothes and drive in normal cars in order to disguise themselves, but the roads are either surrounded by gangs roaming about or blocked with signs that say the road is under construction. Every exit and street leading to your area is under a similar situation so we suspect that your entire area has been blocked off from the rest of the world. What about you?” Standing in the middle of the street, Hong Qingyi looked distressingly at the ‘under construction’ sign in front of her and Chi Mengyan who was yelling at someone not too far away. She couldn’t help but sigh a little.

“There’s a large number of Peng family’s people inside the hotel and an even large number patrolling outside. There are also a few gangsters the Peng family are involved with standing outside in groups of twos and threes.”

“Wait, but I remember there is a police station in your area. How is the police over there responding with the situation?”

“They’re not doing anything. No, it’s more accurate to say that there is not a single business or resident that has responded and they seem to be used to such a scene. I believe that this is the jurisdiction of the Peng family, so people here have long turned their eyes from these kinds of things.”

“Huuu….if I was with you we could’ve…” Hong Qingyi pursed her lips.

“Now’s not the time to be stuck on the what-ifs, we have to think of a plan to rescue Qingli.” Gu Anran wearily rubbed her aching head and stared at the hotel. Qingli was still inside! I don’t even know what they’re doing to her, ugh…damn it!

Ding! Will, you like to upgrade the system for 50,000 points?」At this moment, the system’s voice sounded in their brains and the usually energetic voice sounded a little more mechanized now.

“Upgrade?” Hong Qingyi cried out in surprise.

“What functions does the upgrade encompass?” Gu Anran replied seriously.

The system’s shop will be fully opened and the players will be able to access anything at any time. As long as you shout ‘shop’ in your heart, you’ll be able to buy anything you need. However, both players must agree before both the upgrade and purchase can be approved.

Access the shop! But….50,000 points…if they upgrade that means they will be unable to stay in this world after completing the main mission. But Qingli….

“I consent to the upgrade.” Hong Qingyi’s voice sounded out.

“But…” Gu Anran started.

‘Anran, I understand what you’re worried about….however, even if we are unable to stay in this world we already confirmed that we will meet them again in each world after this. Even if we can’t stay together in this world, then in the next world I believe we will be able to do it…we definitely will be…” Hong Qingyi tightly closed her eyes and rubbed the wetness from her eyes as she continued,

“So…Anran, I agree to this upgrade. Go buy what you need, I believe in you.”

“…I understand….thank you.” Gu Anran hung up the phone, the fingers holding her phone turning a little pale. She naturally understood how painful of a decision this was for Hong Qingyi. If they didn’t consume their points for the upgrade, they would definitely have been able to stay here….

“I consent to the upgrade.”

Ding! Confirmation received! The system will now start the upgrade, The process will take ten minutes to complete. Please wait patiently.

“Hu….” Gu Anran let out a deep breath as she leaned against the walls, her eyes looking up at the moon above. Qingli…wait for me!

  1. I knew it ….. God damn …. And like while I saw it coming don’t think I dislike this or anything, it was quite the emotional chapter.

That’s cuz while everything might be pretty silly I think the author nailed down the interactions between the main 4, each pair really seems in love and Qingyi and Anran really feel like good friends, and seeing Qingyi sacrifice her happiness here for her friend … Even if she knows they’ll their partners again as we’ve seen they change somewhat so it’s like meeting someone new, not to mention they could always fail, and she still did it for her friends, to keep Qingli away from danger and to not see Anran devastated.

And I felt it, her sadness at leaving her lover again, but her and Anrans relationship runs deep.

Fuckkkkk I think that when Anran saves Qingli the mission will be complete and this time they won’t even get to be intimate with each other, and then unto a new world ….

This novel is surprsingly heavy at times, which I really liked it blends it well with the comedy imho.
