The Transmigration Missions Are Not Scientific Ch.44

Chapter 44-Entertainment Circle (6)

The next day, the four returned to the same set as yesterday. However, the atmosphere was strange, not as calm as yesterday….there was still a sense of glee emitting from the crew but also there was also a suffocating pressure in the air.

“Mu Qingli, come here.” The director ordered.

“Yes, sir.” Mu Qingli scuttled over.

“Anran.” Duan Hongwu and Song Wenyan greeted.

“What’s going on?” Gu Anran asked?”

“This….” Duan Hongwu glanced at Chi Mengyan who was standing next to Hong Qingyi, deliberating the choice of words he should use.

“Spit it out.”

“Uh….this morning…someone walked into Qingli’s dressing room and found it to be vandalized in a malicious manner-” Duan Hongwu hadn’t finished speaking when Gu Anran cut him off and walked directly over to Mu Qingli’s direction.

From afar, one could see the Director standing with his arms folded and one of his arms reaching out to point at the dressing room that belonged to Mu Qingli. He was frowning, but he didn’t know what to say. Mu Qingli only had her head lowered and no one could see her expression.

Gu Anran walked over to their side and peeked inside the dressing room.

Gu Studios attached great importance to every artist and employee. Whether they be a new actor or an experienced one, each artist would have their own dressing room. In order to ensure good quality and that no paparazzi would sneak in, the Gu Studios made sure each room was designed to maximize security and comfort. It was no exaggeration to claim that each room was like a separate suite. However, the dressing room they were currently looking at now was a mess. There were costumes, wigs, and other props that were either lying broken on the floor or torn in half and defaced by the cosmetics inside.

“Who did this?” Gu Anran restrained her rising temper and asked through gritted teeth. The ruined room was no big deal, they had spare clothes and cosmetics an artist could use. However, this was obvious bullying, a direct attack that wanted to drive their target into tears. It was disgusting.

“I already asked around. She had just made her debut so it is reasonable to say she shouldn’t have irritated anyone yet. Just who would do this?” Although the Director was used to the shady schemes of the industry, he did not expect this to happen the day after the first round of shooting.

Gu Anran glanced down at the timid Mu Qingli who hadn’t said a word this entire time. She felt her shoulder that Mu Qingli was leaning on getting wet. She glanced down and saw Mu Qingli’s face buried against her shoulder. This….is she crying?! Those damn bastards!

“It’s fine, it’s going to be ok.” She comforted.

“Have you gotten anyone to investigate yet?”

“No. You probably already know, but if we call the police it will only cause the matter to spread, and then it will cause an even bigger mess than we will be unable to clean up.” The Director rubbed his temples wearily.

“We seldom set up cameras in the dressing rooms because we provide artists at least some privacy. I did ask a retired police friend of mine to take a look. He said the perpetrators were very careful. They avoided all detection and they probably even wore gloves so they wouldn’t leave fingerprints. Furthermore….look….”

Gu Anran followed the Director’s outstretched arm and saw that on the floor there was an obvious path that leads from outside the room to the inside. Of course, the path was curved and stood out against the floor that was scattered with makeup powder and perfume.

“You mean to say that the other party didn’t even leave any footprints.” Gu Anran guessed.

“Yes, without any camera footage or evidence, I have no clue who did this. It could be one person, it could be several. However, it will be impossible to figure out.” The Director swept his gaze towards the crowd whispering behind them.

“…Very well. Leave this to me. I will need to skip the scene I’m supposed to shoot with Qingli today. You should get back to filming.”

“Is that alright?” The Director asked.

Gu Anran could read his thoughts, his eyes showing that he was puzzled as to why Gu Anran would willingly enter such dirty waters.

“I have my own reasons.” Of course, she was only doing this for her wife, but he didn’t need to know that. Gu Anran raised her eyes to meet his, the coldness emitting from her gaze cause the Director to feel subdued. It was not an ordinary coldness, but one mixed with killing intent. The Director didn’t know why a girl five years younger than him would have such a frightening gaze, but he did not care to think too much about it. Sometimes, it was better to just go along with it and do what he must do.

“I understand.” The Director nodded and left.

“Let’s go.” Gu Anran soothingly patted Mu Qingli’s back.

“En….” With a sour feeling coming from her nose, Mu Qingli nodded while in Gu Anran’s embrace.

“Qingyi, get the car ready. I need to take a trip home.” Gu Anran said to Hong Qingyi who was taking a few photos of the crime scene with her phone. After receiving a nod in confirmation, Gu Anran dragged Mu Qingli back to their room.

As soon as they entered the room, Mu Qingli escaped from Gu Anran’s grasp and sprinted into the bathroom.

“Qing…” Gu Anran watched the door close and withdrew her outstretched hand. At times like this, it was better for her to let the other calm down first….

Instead, she focused on what she needed to do next. From her bag, she took out some cosmetics, a wig, and a hat. Although in the movies the stars only wore sunglasses and hats to disguise themselves, it was not so true in real life! One must know how to become a completely different person!

After putting on her disguise. Gu Anran checked herself in the mirror and nodded in satisfaction at the strange face in front of her. She glanced at the still tightly closed door of the bathroom and pursed her lips. She prepared to knock on the door when the door creaked open.

“Um…you are???” Mu Qingli appeared startled. Why was a stranger she didn’t know suddenly standing in front of her? Maybe a friend of Anran’s?

Gu Anran glanced at Mu Qingli’s red and swollen eyes, her heart fell into distress. She grabbed Mu Qingli’s hand and sat on the sofa.

“You…you… are Anran?” Mu Qingli felt uncomfortable at a stranger’s touch but the familiar feeling told her who the person in front of her was.

‘Put this on.” She dragged Mu Qingli to sit down with her and then handed her a wig. Gu Anran then grabbed a set of cosmetics.

“You really are…Anran….” Mu Qingli stared in disbelief at the goddess in disguise.

“En.” Seeing that Mu Qingli still hadn’t moved, Gu Anran grabbed the wig and put it on Mu Qingli herself.

So…so close!!!! Seeing Gu Anran’s face so close to her, her Goddess’ every breath landing on her cheeks….she felt….like she was going to faint!

“Uh…your ears are red…are you sick?” However, Gu Anran knew her wife well and could tell that the other was just being shy. However, she still reached out to rub those red ears with mischievous intent, clasping the back of Mu Qingli’s head with one hand and then leaning forward to gently place her forehead against Mu Qingli’s. Well… the temperature is getting higher and higher, hahaha…..

“A-Anran, I’m…fine…”Mu Qingli stared openly, her eyes stuck on the other’s round and silky lips. She secretly gulped….I want to kiss those lips! No, how can I think like this! Mu Qingli closed her eyes tightly, wondering if she could hide in a hole right now…

“Don’t move.” Gu Anran held cupped Mu Qingli’s cheeks in her hands, preventing the blushing girl from moving.

“Anran…I-I….” Mu Qingli’s nervous heart was jumping out of her chest, beating furiously like a drum. Suddenly, she felt something smear against her face and she opened her eyes to find that Gu Anran was helping her put on makeup. She felt relieved, but also a little disappointed for some reason.

“There, all done.”

Mu Qingli opened her eyes at Gu Anran’s words and looked in the mirror…Whooaaa! Is this really me? I’ve become a completely different person!! Wow, this is amazing!!

“It’s time to go.” Gu Anran put on her coat, glancing at Mu Qingli who was still studying herself in the mirror.

“Uh…yes! I’m coming!” Mu Qingli quickly followed after Gu Anran.

Outside the hotel, there were slight reflections lying behind the bushes….is that a camera? It seems the paparazzi were here every day, waiting for a potential scoop as they squatted out here. Dressing up was indeed the correct choice.

The paparazzi made a slight commotion when they saw two women they never saw before come out. Although both were superb beauties, it was ultimately useless to take their pictures as they would bring no meals to the table. Better to keep your eyes peeled for the big stars, back to squatting….

And so, the paparazzi unknowingly missed a perfect money-making opportunity…..

“We’re here, let’s go.” Gu Anran pulled Mu Qingli into a car, a man was already sitting in the front with Hong Qingyi and Chi Mengyan sitting next to them.

“Understood, Young Miss.”

Hearing the man’s words, Gu Anran relaxed a little. It seemed the original owner of this body had a driver that was specifically assigned to her by her father. Otherwise, she wouldn’t know where exactly the Gu family mansion was.

About 20 minutes later, the car entered the downtown area and stopped in front of a pair of gates that looked luxurious, but not in a gaudy sort of way.

“Who is it?” The side door opened, and a man in black came out.

“The Young Miss has returned.” The driver rolled down the window.

The man walked over with a scanning tool. Gu Anran watched as the driver was forced to put his fingers against the tool. After a few seconds, the light on the machine turned green and there was a vibrant ‘ding!’ sound. Is this how they determine if he’s an intruder or not? Isn’t this a little…much?

Although Gu Anran felt speechless, she didn’t stop them from verifying the driver’s identity. The gate slowly opened and the driver drove the car onto the building’s grounds.

Wo CAO!…..the rich really are…..The moment they drove in they were greeted with a large garden and what seemed like a huge swimming pool not so far away. Not too far away was a greenhouse that was layered in solar panels.

As the car continued forwards, Gu Anran saw a basketball court, golf course, and even a racetrack. Opposite of a racetrack was a car that one could only see on TV.

This is someone super rich! No wonder they had to verify your identity. If I was the owner, I would do the same.

T/N notes:

I’m going to teach you some cuss words today:

  1. Wo Cao! (This means, ‘fuck me!’ or ‘goddamn!’ and usually used to show that you’re surprised, you think something is impressive, etc.)
  2. Wo Cao Ni Ma! (This is more offensive, please don’t say this unless you want to get punched. It technically means, ‘fuck you!’ but the direct translation is ‘fuck your mother!’ which I guess can be shortened to ‘motherfucker!’) Variation of this: Qu ni ma de! (this is also like ‘fuck your mother’ but it’s more like ‘fuck off and go back to your mama!’)

Some cuss words more commonly used in transmigration/rebirth novels:

  1. Lv cha biao (Green tea bitch. Pretty common villainess character: innocent on the outside but scheming on the inside. Cui Qianqian is counted as one.)
  2. Bi Lian (Green lotus, usually means ‘cunt face’ and is describing a shameless/despicable person. )

There are more, and you can refer to this site for some words a beginner could use: https://www.thebeijinger.com/blog/2015/06/04/25-or-so-words-you-should-never-use-chinese-internet
