Ch 5- Campus Novel (4)

A gazebo somewhere in the school garden.

“Hah~~” Gu Anran propped up her chin as she yawned. 

A month has passed since they’ve arrived in this world and so far, they were able to raise their favorability ratings with the male lead and supporting male lead up to 50. According to the system, this number meant that they were considered ‘good friends’ with the two males, so they no longer needed to raise the ratings any farther. 

However, there has been no real progress with the two capture targets, causing both Gu Anran and Hong Qingyi to feel depressed. Every time they tried to approach the targets, the system would immediately stop them or give them a strange mission to complete. In one mission the system tells them to be friendly, the next mission the system orders them to ignore them or act cold. It was like giving them the carrot and then hitting them with the stick.

Gu Anran was quite skeptical about this ‘strategy’ that the system came up with. This was beyond just moody and temperamental now! Wouldn’t the two targets think they had schizophrenia instead?! This ‘strategy’ made one want to give up…(-_-) 

What is this system thinking? The favorability ratings haven’t gone up or down….at this point, when can we go back home?…. I don’t even know how many other worlds we will have to go through…I can only do these stupid, ordinary missions, chat with the male lead, stay up all night playing video games, or daydream in class….at this rate I’m going go crazy! (#`Д)

The female lead’s rating is currently at 10 and the supporting female lead is at 15! It was so low that both of them wanted to cry! The male lead and supporting male lead still needed to be bent, and they haven’t even seen a shadow of the villain male lead yet! They’ve read transmigration novels before, but why did it seem their experience was something a drunk author would write…

Aren’t we supposed to quickly attack and capture the targets’ affections? Why are we wasting our time? Can’t we quickly finish up and go home already?!

Although on the surface Gu Anran wore a calm expression, however, her heart was complaining to the heavens! Suddenly a stick of gum was thrown into her lap and she looked up to see…the ugly face of Suan Hongwu. 

“Oh, thanks. Hey, I haven’t seen Wenyan all day, where is he?”
Having been with Dong Hongwu for so long now, Gu Anran understood his personality and was able to talk with him casually. Without a change in expression, Gu Anran unwrapped the piece of gum and popped it into her mouth. En…tastes like cola, delicious. Then she swept a look around the garden.

After observing them for a month, Gu Anran now had a thorough understanding of what the term ‘conjoined twins’ meant. Except for when they go home (probably, she wasn’t sure yet) the two were practically inseparable. They would come to school together, eat food together, read a book together, and other than going to the bathroom, the two would always only be about an arm’s length apart from each other. 

Even identical twins weren’t this close! Even if the two weren’t in love with each other, the school already formed a ‘Yan x Wu’ fan club with multiple branches. Some supported Wu as the attacking side, others supported Yan, and there were even clubs that supported a mutual attack. Overall, the opinions were divided. 

Tsk…if it weren’t for the fact that Gu Anran and crew didn’t coincidentally hear this from a passing conversation, they would’ve never known the school even had such interesting clubs. It really made them panic (excited)!

“He…got called outside by an ugly woman.” As he spoke, Duan Hongwu’s face became more twisted. Previously he already had a sour expression, but now it looked like someone forced him to eat a block of metal(～`).

“So? You’ve already known that Wenyan is quite popular for some time, it’s not like this hasn’t happened before. So what are you upset about? Besides, doesn’t this thing happen often to you too?” The Hong Qingyi who sat beside her said without looking up from the game she was playing on her phone. 

“I…this..” Duan Hongwu’s face was flushed red, and he didn’t know what to say. He just knew that he felt uncomfortable whenever Song Wenyan was confessed to by a girl and this feeling of discomfort continued to grow day by day. Just why on earth was he feeling like this?

Looking at Duan Hongwu’s twisted face, Gu Anran felt her mood improve, haha! Finally, there was someone else who felt even more confused and at a loss than her! Her heart finally feels peaceful again~

“I’m back, huh…Wu, what’s wrong with your face? Your face doesn’t look too good, is your body feeling uncomfortable?” The moment Song Wenyan came back, he saw Duan Hongwu’s twisted face looking at him, so feeling puzzled, he reached out and put a hand on Duan Hongwu’s forehead. 

“Eh, are you okay? Huh? Why did your face turn so red?”

“It’s n-nothing, it’s just too hot in here, that’s all.” Duan Hongwu forcefully suppressed the strange beating of his heart and the unexplainable warmth he felt when Song Wenyan touched his cheek, stood up and walked away. 

Gu Anran looked at the autumn scenery outside and then looked at the short-sleeved shirt Duan Honwu was wearing. Yeah right…it is ‘hot’ here.

Perhaps Gu Anran’s look was too obvious, Duan Hongwu rolled his eyes at her without Song Wenyan noticing. Gu Anran returned it with a glare of her own before they both fell silent. 

「The male lead’s favorability rating towards the supporting male lead has increased by 5, to a total of (70). However, the supporting male lead’s rating towards the male lead is still at (55).」

Ohoho~ Gu Anran and Hong Qingyi glanced at each other. Who knew the male lead was so passionate? Hehe, it looks like he didn’t waste all those opportunities we created for them~ Who needs something dramatic like the hero saving the damsel? Just by making them wear matching outfits and other trivial things were enough~  ╮/(＞▽<)人(>▽＜)╭

However, the supporting male lead was harder to bend. Was it because he was too dense or just didn’t have any feelings?

“Brother Wu~~” The sickly sweet voice caused Gu Anran to shiver, as an opera singer..no…the villain female lead, Shangguan Qing walked over, carrying a bento box with a sweet (?) expression on her face. However, Duan Hongwu’s face turned ashen and Song Wenyan frowned. 

“What are you doing here, Shangguan Qing?” Duan Hongwu hated this fiancee very much. When they were younger, she was much cuter and was always following behind him, sweetly calling out ‘brother’. However, ever since she became his fiancee, although he didn’t care at first, her personality became more and more arrogant. Paired with the thick makeup on her face, she was extremely unpleasant to look at. 

「The male lead’s rating for the villain female lead has dropped by 10, and is now at (-30)」

Wow…the female villain lead is so pitiful…but I’m don’t feel any sympathy for her ╮(╯_╰)╭

Gu Anran continued to leisurely chew her gum while Hong Qingyi put down her phone to watch the drama. 

“Brother Wu, do you know that the outfit I’m wearing today is the princess style that famous French designer handmade for me? Do you think I look good in it?” As if she couldn’t sense Duan Hongwu’s impatience, she set the bento down and twirled around in her dress.

OMG! My nose, my eyes! Gu Anran suddenly had the urge to wear a gas mask and goggles. Shangguan Qing was wearing a pink tutu dress, with colorful ribbons and diamonds randomly pasted everywhere. Which famous designer made this abomination? Drag them out to be executed! This is even uglier than her usual outfit! It’s like looking at a colorful parrot instead of a human!! (/ ‵ Д ′) / ~ ╧╧

Well, if it was just the ugly clothes it would’ve been fine, but paired with her Beijing opera makeup, it’s too scary to even look at her directly! Just what kind of mood is she in for Shangguan Qing to find the courage to wear something like this? Even a clown suit would’ve been better!

And her body is sprayed with such stinky perfume! Just how bad is her body odor or athlete’s foot! Cixi once took baths full of milk, so is she taking perfume baths? With such an acrid scent, too much of the perfume would only cause people to become nauseous, who doesn’t know such common sense?!

It might be because the family’s aesthetics were weird, to begin with, or she was originally like this, but the parents should’ve talked some reason into her already!!!

This was the first time Gu Anran wanted to vomit so severely. She glanced at the Hong Qingyi who covered her mouth and nose with a disgusted expression, the Duan Hongwu whose face turned different shades of white, and the smiling Song Wenyan whose smile was quivering. Gu Anran felt relieved, she wasn’t the one with the worst expression, at least she was able to maintain a poker face…little did she know that her face kept changing based on the words in her heart and was….the most interesting of the four.

“Brother Wu, let’s eat lunch together! Today my chef made lobster with shark fin, a beef stew, and prepared Pu’er tea that’s supposed to be good for your health.” Seeing that Duan Hongwu didn’t respond (actually he was concentrating on holding his breath…), Shangguan Qing smiled and placed the lunch box on the table. 

When opened, the steam rose from it, as if it had just come out of the pot. However, none of them could smell the enticing aroma, no….it was more accurate to say that because it mixed with Shangguan Qing’s stinky perfume, it turned into a disgusting stench instead.

Even a baby needs fresh air, much less us! (╯‵□′)╯︵┴─┴

“I. Don’t. Want. IT!” Duan Hongwu steeled himself and said those words, then he left, pulling Song Wenyan with him.

“Ah! Brother Wu, wait for me!” Shangguan Qing hurriedly packed up the lunch and ran after Duan Hongwu, shouting incomprehensibly.

Gu Anran was rather amazed by her speed. One must know that previously they had to run the 800-meter dash and because it was required, everyone had to do it. Shangguan Qing had fainted after one minute, running a total of about 30 meters! Well, no one knew if it was fake or real, but back then her face was as white as a sheet of paper. Yet, who knew the power of love would be this great! (☉д⊙)

「The male lead’s rating for the villain female lead has dropped by 20, currently at (-50). The supporting male lead’s rating for the villain female lead has dropped by 10, currently at (-30)」

“Hahaha…this  female villain lead is just increasing his dislike towards her with every attempt!” Hong Qingyi waved her hand, trying to fan the wind and disperse the perfume still left in the gazebo.

“Aright, forget about her, let’s go back in. Tomorrow the main plot will start.” Gu Anran yawned and picked up the bread she hadn’t eaten yet. It wasn’t because she wasn’t hungry, but because the villain female lead’s appearance had caused her to lose all appetite!

Regardless, one of their missions was to defeat the villain leads and since the male villain lead hasn’t shown up yet, it will be very easy to crush this idiot, Shangguan Qing. Not to mention the best way would be to destroy her biggest pride and her pillar of support, the Shangguan family.

Furthermore, with her personality, Shangguan Qing is a tool that can easily be used for their purposes. Once the villain male lead shows up, they’ll formally start attacking the Shangguan family

As for the main mission, the system kept reminding the two of them all morning, for every ten minutes, 「Tomorrow the main plot will start.」, 「Tomorrow the main plot will start.」, 「Tomorrow the main plot will start.」….over and over again! So annoying, like a curse! 

Anyhow, tomorrow will be when the female lead offends the villain female lead and when the male lead jumps in heroically to rescue the beauty. It will be the start of the bullying, an important plot device of the story.

After experiencing the easy campus life for so long, the show is finally about to begin!
