The Transmigration Missions Are Not Scientific Ch.57

Chapter 57-Entertainment Circle (19)

The next day, Cui Qianqian’s news dominated every news channel.

But the person herself reacted unexpectedly. Cui Qianqian had shaved off her long hair and left to become a nun. On TV, it showed Cui Qianqian with her eyes closed and her expression serene as she drummed lightly against a wooden mokugyo. She completely ignored the crowds of reporters trying to get in through the temple gates.

Gu Anran did not try to harass her further for she felt this was good enough. At least the person in question had the determination to change themselves and repent their sins. Cui Qianqian didn’t even scream at the camera like a crazy woman usually would.

Turning off the TV, Gu Anran turned to face Hong Qingyi beside her,

“Next is the male villain lead.”

“En…” Hong Qingyi only nodded silently after seeing what happened to Cui Qianqian. However, she felt like she had forgotten something…..

“Anran…I think we have forgotten…about the male lead and male supporting lead…..”

“Uh…” Gu Anran paused. Fu*k! Completely forgotten about those two! Because they got together without our help in the last world, I have completely forgotten about them!

“Who are the male and male supporting leads again?”

“…..” Hong Qingyi silently looked at Gu Anran, and then silently mourned for Duan Hongwu and Song Wenyan,

“Duan Hongwu and Song Wenyan…they are the Film Emperor and his Manager in this world…in fact, he is the co-star of one of the work assignments you left on hiatus.”

“Oh…well who told them to have such little presence…” Gu Anran grunted and turned away from Hong Qingyi’s gaze that seemed to say ‘I’m looking at an idiot.’

“…..” How can you blame it on their presence? They even worked with you for three days and before you ended up in the hospital. Of course, they couldn’t visit you because of their status or else if they did then the public will think you two are a couple….

Ding! Main Mission #2: Bend the male lead and male supporting lead has been completed. A total of 30, 000 points will be deposited.

Suddenly the system’s voice sounded out and left Gu Anran and Hong Qingyi feeling confused. Why was the mission completed by just thinking about it?

“Hey, system, what is going on?” Gu Anran asked.

The Film Emperor Duan Hongwu has passed the age of thirty. Because of this, he was often forced into matchmaking sessions by his family. When dear player entered the hospital, his parents upped the amount and forced even more matchmaking sessions onto him. They arranged no less than three different matches a day for a whole week. So then the male lead went into a bar to get drunk and forget about life. However, then made a drunken pass at the male supporting lead and now the two are trying to work out a long-term relationship together.

“….”

“….”

Gu Anran and Hong Qingyi were speechless. This was…so melodramatic….a powerful Film Emperor was forced into matchmaking sessions at least three times a day and that lasted a whole week. That means at least twenty-one different sessions. It’s scary even thinking about it. Just how pessimistic were his parents about their son’s marriage? With his status, value, and appearance, Duang Hongwu probably had every beauty in the city throwing themselves at him. How come when he visits his family they act as no one wants him?

“Forget it, forget it, we’ll just count that problem as solved.” Gu Anran rubbed her brows wearily. Anyhow, that was one less problem to worry about.  But it seems that the two males had high potential of getting together in this novel and the last one. It really confirms the famous saying, ‘everyone has a brokeback mountain in them.’ [1]

“Anran, Qingyi, come and eat some fruit.” Mu Qingli and Chi Mengyan walked in with pre-cut apples and washed grapes and cherries.

“Oh!”

Meanwhile, at the Gao Studios:

“What is going on! Why have all our sponsors withdrawn from our film?” Gao Wenjian angrily slammed the table as he yelled at the high-level executives in front of him.

“Mr. Gao, we don’t know what’s going on either. A few days ago, a few small sponsors started canceling their contracts and investments with us. We originally thought it was no big deal and so we didn’t care about it. However, we never expected…” The person in charge swallowed nervously and trembled.

“Since some people have started to withdraw their investments, why didn’t you pay any attention! Is the stable work-life too comfortable, too complacent for you?!” Gao Wenjian was so angry that he smashed his glass cup against the ground and the atmosphere of the meeting became even heavier.

Damn it all! Gao Wenjian crossed his arms and frowned. The historical drama was going to be a hit with the public so Gao Studios had invested a lot of money into the film. For this reason, almost all artists with any potential were also invested in the film. They had also invited many well-known movie stars. Gao Wenjian hoped that he would earn back a lot of money by relying on the high ratings of the drama. Then he would use this advantage to destroy Gu Studios and become the leader of the entertainment world! But then this big of a problem occurred…

“All of you, get out! Get out!” swept all the documents in front of him and onto the floor with a wave of his hand, and looked at the incompetent men before him. When it came to their own self-interest they had rushed forward but now shrank back in the crucial moments. In the end, none of them dare to come forward with a plan! Trash, all of them are trash!

The subordinates follow the example of their boss. With the self-interested and competitive atmosphere of the Gao family, how would the subordinates not be self-interested as well? And so how could the people following Gao Wenjian have any promise? The ones who did have been kicked out already.

The film must continue but with the remaining funds, it will become a joke after a month. With this short amount of time, it will be impossible to find any large investments. Finding small investors will only make it too messy and they would have too many enemies to deal with. Furthermore, then news of the chaos might break out into the media and that was not good for their reputation.

Should he return to the Gao family and ask for money? Gao Wenjian had always cared about his face and so he had to force himself to grit his teeth and call his father with his trembling hands. If he couldn’t find the funds, then this huge debt was enough to make the company bankrupt!

“Father, it’s me, Wenjian…” But before he could finish, Gao Zongxian’s overwhelmed voice sounded out.

“Wenjian, what’s the matter?  I’m very busy here. If you have no business with me then I’m hanging up.”

“Father, what happened?” Gao Wenjian frowned. Before, his father had always been calm even in front of his so-called grandfather. Although he was often angry, his father never revealed his emotions. Now there was obvious anxiety coming from his father.

“Ah…right now about half of the investors in our group have suddenly withdrawn their money and the remaining funds are not enough to fulfill our needs. At most, they will only be able to complete a few small projects. For larger ones, we’ll be lucky to even get half of one done. We can’t borrow from the bank because the money and documents needed are too large. Can your entertainment company make any money to transfer over to me?”

As of now, the Gao conglomerate was in a much worse state than the Gao Studios. The stocks were plummeting and the investors have withdrawn their funds. To turn around this situation, it would require tens of billions. Such a large number was something the bank simply cannot take out at once. Even if there were, the procedure to borrow this much was quite tedious. Moreover, each bank processes at different speeds and so one doesn’t know if they can process the request on time.

Although he was losing face, if he can even make some money back then Gao Zongxian was willing to do anything.

“This…” Gao Wenjian never thought that his father would be borrowing money in reverse. So what should he do now? Both the conglomerate and the Studios were being attacked and that was just too coincidental. Someone must be targeting them! But who? Who is so bold!

Gao Wenjian wracked his brains but couldn’t figure out who would have such a great ability to cause the Gao family to fall into this kind of crisis. This was what Gu Anran wanted to happen. Without knowing who the opponent was when the biggest crisis occurs, doesn’t it cause the greatest blow?

In fact, Gu Anran never refuted Hong Qingyi’s claim, for she was indeed getting more insidious! While hiding behind someone else, she would stab the knife into their backs! This was not being insidious but following the saying ‘A dragon has reverse scales. To touch it is to die.’ [2] For Gu Anran and Hong Qingyi, their reverse scales were of course their respective wives.

Therefore when Gu Anran did these kinds of malicious things, Hong Qingyi would only watch silently. If Chi Mengyan encountered the same problem, she would do the exact same. In fact, it would be difficult for her to guarantee that she would not be even more ruthless than Gu Anran. So it could be considered a blessing that Chi Mengyan hasn’t faced any such troubles. After all, the fate of a female lead and a female supporting lead was just that different.

Who’s fault was it that Mu Qingli as the female lead would have the female lead halo! As the female lead, it stands to reason that the female lead should be full of good luck. But maybe Mu Qingli’s female lead halo is fake or a flawed product because it always felt like her halo brought only bad luck. Every

strange and the bad thing would always land on her head!

Although they were all rescued in the end, the role of the heroine was something one flinched back from….however the role is not optional and so Mu Qingli could only bear with it. One doesn’t know if Mu Qingli is the so-called Darling of Fate or….the Darling of Misfortune.

T/N:

[1] “Everyone has a brokeback mountain in them”:

This line is from a movie about two gay cowboys and this quote is essentially saying that everyone has something they want but is ‘forbidden’ to them. Idk, not good at analyzing stuff like this.

[2] “A dragon has reverse scales. To touch it is to die.”: An ancient Chinese saying that a legendary dragon ‘s neck has a scale that is inverted. If anyone touches it, the dragon will kill the person who touched it. Generally speaking, ” reverse scale ” refers to taboo or bottom line, something which cannot be touched. If it is touched, it will inevitably cause a strong rebound/counterattack.
Wow, the villainess actually repenting and choosing to not escalate things with the protagonists? That is uncommon indeed. And technically she doesn’t have to stay in the temple forever. She could flee to another country eventually and start over. Maybe not as an actor but she could definitely get a normal job or go back to school and get a degree. She could even have a normal family afterward. Sure there is the occasional person who might recognize you or a threatening letter from some troll but at least you’re not raped, killed, sent to prison/mental asylum, etc. Oooh, then it becomes a story of struggle and triumph, about a villainess trying to live a normal life! Definitely something I would read.

  1. What? The worst female villainess is the one that gets off the lightest? I wasn’t expecting her to become a nun at all and just try to move on when all the others have had such a ruthless end.

Especially that first villainess that wasn’t even that bad and just a kid got fucked the worst, figuratively and literally.
