Chapter 33- We just separated and now we’re in the same room?!

“W-what a coincidence…Miss…I mean, Sister Su.” Wen Jiexi said dryly. She almost subconsciously called her Miss Su again but then received a glare from Su Chenyu and immediately changed the title. Wuwuwu, why??? QAQ 

Su Chenyu pressed her keycard to the sensor on the door and the red light quickly turned green. She opened the door and took a look inside, nodding in satisfaction. She then turned towards the person still standing blankly, 

“Come in.”

“Ah….ok….” They were just going to live together. Goddess Su wouldn’t try to eat her or anything, right? Thinking like this, Wen Jiexi felt better but still cautiously hugged her bag close to her body as she walked in. 

As soon as she entered, there was a small shoe rack on the right that one can put your shoes on. She took off her shoes and then stopped on the wooden floor. On the right was the bathroom and on the left was a huge closet. Next to the closet was a countertop and mirror, presumably used for makeup. Then there was a minifridge as well. 

There was a small coffee table between the two beds, a TV and two floor-to-ceiling windows. There was a small balcony with a rough table, two chairs, and a parasol prepared for guests who want to enjoy the scenery without getting burned. 

“Which bed do you want?” Su Chenyu asked.

“This…Sister Su can choose first.” Wen Jiexi said while sheepishly scratching her head. 

“Alright…” Su Chengyu glanced at Wen Jiexi and then chose the bed nearest the window, setting her luggage beside it. 

Following Su Chenyu, Wen Jiexi took the other bed and left her luggage beside it as well. 

“Wow!” Sitting on the soft bed, Wen Jiexi smiled a little. Hehe, although first class is comfortable, it still hurts a little after sitting for a long time. Sure, it’s better than business and economy class but it can’t beat a real bed! Also, the first flight of my life….wasn’t what I thought would be…

Su Chenyu was sorting out her clothing but would glance at Wen Jiexi from time to time. When she saw Wen Jiexi bounce on the bed a little, she let out a wry smile. She couldn’t help but find it funny that the little fellow was so easy to satisfy. 

Then she watched Wen Jiexi open her suitcase and take out not clothes or accessories, but several dumbbells, two skipping ropes, three or four grip rings, wrist devices, and rubber bands for fitness. This, how can you carry all that? What is this kid thinking? 

“You really like this stuff, huh….”

“Huh? Ah…Sister Su.” Wen Jiexi jumped a little when she noticed Su Chenyu beside her. She scratched her head a little and explained, 

“Even though we’re going to be away for just one month, I still have to keep up my basic training.” 

There’s nothing else I can do. Without a proper gym here, if I don’t get enough points, I’ll be finished! I don’t want to be a female King Kong!

Fortunately, Dango informed her of a new yellow mission she received. For every scene she acts in and can finish in one take, she will receive 2,000 pounds. Furthermore, for every ten episodes she finishes, there will be an additional 5,000 pounds. There were no penalties, only rewards. Probably because the system knew she was a first-timer, otherwise it would be impossible for her to complete the mission. She was just a novice so even if she works hard, there wasn’t enough time for her to completely grasp the role perfectly. 

“….I see. However, I remember telling you to rest….” Su Chenyu said, shaking a wooden board in her hands. Wen Jiexi glanced at the tool, wait…isn’t that used for massage therapy like Gua Sha….[1]

“That….Su…Sister Su….I have something I want to say…whaaaaa!”

Li Lingmeng, who was also sorting her clothes downstairs, felt a little relieved to see it was Lin Yunxi who was staying with her. Otherwise, it would be really troublesome to room with a complete stranger. 

“Sister Lin, what a coincidence that we get to meet again!”

“Eh, so it turns out it’s you, Lingmeng. I was wondering who would be rooming with me, but it turns out it’s you!” Lin Yunxi walked into the room and raised her eyebrows in surprise. 

“Yeah, I didn’t expect it to be Sister Lin either. I was quite nervous before but now that it’s someone I know, I feel relieved.” Li Lingmeng sat on the bed, swaying her legs, and patting her chest. 

“Hahaha! You’ll get used to it. Assistants will always have to share the same room with other assistants. Of course, this time was a special case and it would’ve been one person per room, except maybe for the extras. Our company is very particular about lodging and accommodation after all.” Lin Yunxi said with a radiant smile on her face. 

“Ehhh, that’s amazing! I’ve also noticed that the company’s planning is spot on! They even arranged a limo for us once and it was still new when I saw it! Hehe, that was my first time in one, but it’s super cool!” LI Lingmeng said happily. Then she snapped her head upwards, looking at the ceiling with raised eyebrows. Just now…she seems to have heard Little Xi scream. Was it a hallucination? 

“Limos and company cars are a must-have for the artists. As soon as they send one car out, they will immediately start training drivers and buying more vehicles in case there is an immediate need for one. We always have at least five vehicles ready to go at any time.” Lin Yunxi arranged her blankets and explained. Of course, an artist will have to wait at least a year later for a decent company car. Unless the said artist suddenly becomes famous, otherwise why would the company send them an expensive car…but Sister Su was popular after her first film! She was different. However, Jiexi may be serious but she was nowhere near as good as Sister Su. Although there is a sis-con older brother hiding in the shadows,

“Sister Lin, tell me about the company’s welfare plan! I’ve recently learned about the part about the human resources of a company, but they haven’t told me what a welfare plan does.” Li Lingmeng’s attention was shifted from Wen Jiexi to Lin Yunxi beside her. 

“Okay….let me tell you….”

Wen Jiexi: Little Meng, you heard my wailing, right?!! Then shouldn’t you come and save me?! QAQ

Compared to the atmosphere in the other two rooms, the room next to Li Lingmeng’s was like an ice cellar. Currently, two agents, one standing, and one sitting, looked at each other silently. 

“Where are you going?” Xue Molin grabbed Wang Anyi’s arm as she saw the other woman turn to leave. Wang Anyi had just walked in, took one look at her, and turned around with a frozen expression as she dragged her suitcase behind her. 

“What does it matter to you? Let go.” Wang Anyi frowned at the hand restraining her arm. 

“There are no other spare rooms, so where will you go?” Xue Molin ignored Wang Anyi’s cold words and asked again. 

“I’ll sleep in the company’s car. Let go.” Wang Anyi shook off Xue Molin’s hand and reached for the door. 

“If you gout out like this, people will see that the two of us are in disagreement. Then outsiders will extend this to both Little Su and Jie Xi, thinking that those two are also in conflict. Although our company does not participate in the philosophy of ‘crawl high, step low’ [2], that is not necessarily the case with outsiders and other companies. With two different crews on set, there will be a lot of people to act as witnesses meaning that everyone would soon know that two top tier agents from Xingle are at odds with each other. Are you not afraid of this affecting Jiexi and Little Su in some way?” Xue Molin reached out with both hands this time and grabbed Wang Anyi’s luggage. 

“….” Wang Anyi slowly turned her head to stare at Xue Molin, her eyes flashing with a look of disbelief. In her memories, Xue Molin was always a prideful and arrogant person. Other people would throw themselves at her feet and beg things from her, no the other way around. Now this proud woman was asking her to stay instead? Could it be a change of heart? Hmph, why do I care? Even if she had a change of heart, so what? What does any of that have to do with me?

She shook off Xue Molin’s hands again, but this time she did not proceed to go outside but made her way inside instead. She glanced at the already occupied bed and lightly walked over to the vacant one, setting down her luggage to organize her things. 

It was just like Xue Molin said, Wang Anyi couldn’t afford for outsiders to think badly of Xingle because of their personal problems. She knew that it would affect Little Su and Jiexi’s future too. Furthermore, since Little Su seems to have taken a fancy to Jiexi and if something happened, she believed that the president would be able to protect Jiexi but she wasn’t willing to gamble Little Su’s happiness and future. 

Xue Molin stood quietly to the side, watching the busy Wang Anyi. She bowed her head and let out a quick smile, before returning to her own luggage and bed. The two finished the rest of their unpacking quietly. 

The next day, Wen Jiexi yawed and rubbed her sleepy eyes. The sky was still somewhat dark, it seemed to be around five in the morning….

She yawned again and reached up to touch her neck. Immediately a hot and painful stinging sensation flared and Wen Jiexi couldn’t help but gasp a little. The soreness of her body has now doubled the intensity of the pain she felt after getting off the pain. If one saw her back, they would see traces of long red stripes and it looked shocking to the eye. If one didn’t know better, they would think she was a victim of domestic violence. 

However, despite her sore body, she felt an almost magical feeling of freshness. She clenched her fists, 

although it hurts during the process, my body does feel a lot better afterward. 

Wen Jiexi went into the bathroom and washed up before putting on her sweatshirt and preparing to use this free time to quickly complete some missions. However, the noise she made caused Su Chenyu to awaken half an hour later when she walked out of the bathroom. 

“Ah! Sister Su, you’re awake. Good morning.” Wen Jiexi was startled for a second and then greeted Su Chenyu. 

Su Chenyu didn’t seem to be fully awake yet as she slowly turned around. She then slowly stood up, grabbed a bathrobe and then walked into the bathroom without saying a word….Wen Jiexi also seemed to have seen Goddess Su’s bed hair! I think I wasn’t supposed to see that! Will I be silenced?!! Wen Jiexi shivered a little. 

She looked at the bathroom door and heard the sound of the shower being turned on. I should be fine, right….

“Hey, Jiexi, do you want to take a peek?” Dango said mischievously into Wen Jiexi’s ear.

Get out! Get out! Who do you think I am? Do you think I would be someone who would look at others? Anyhow, she has the same parts as me, what’s there worth peeking at?! Wen Jiexi pouted. 

“But her figure is better than yours….” Dango said while circling around Wen Jiexi’s chest

Dango…..why haven’t you accepted the missions yet, why are lazing around for….Wen Jiexi gritted her teeth while pulling on Dango’s cheeks. Even a stupid ghost dares to make fun of me, how hateful! 

The frustrated Wen Jiexi picked up her jump rope and began her missions. Su Chenyu heard the soft white of the rope when she came out and turned her head to see Wen Jiexi jumping like her life depended on it. Immediately she felt displeased, didn’t she tell this exercise junkie to take a rest (Wen Jiexi: I’ll turn into a female King Kong if I do that!)

“Jiexi! Jiexi! Goddess Su is watching you from behind! She’s leaning against the doorframe with crossed arms! Whaaa, she seems really angry!” Seeing Su Chenyu come out, Dango forgot about keeping count and shouted a warning. The warning was shouted directly into Wen Jiexi’s ear, but Dango’s tone carried a bit of joy as if the little ghost was reveling in the others misfortune. 

Wen Jiexi slowed, she turned her head and met Su Chenyu’s glare. The expression was the same indifferent face as usual, but the pressure was terrifying……scary!!! 

Pa! 

A moment of inattention caused her to fall to her feet. This was the first time Wen Jiexi has ever been injured during her workout. Add on the fact that she was skipping rope at a faster rate than ordinary people, the place where the rope hit was hot and stinging. 

“Wuooo!” Wen Jiexi hopped on one leg as she held her injured calf. 

“Hah…..sit down, I put some medicine on it for you.” Su Chenyu’s anger immediately dispersed and she could only sigh helplessly as she walked over. 

Pulling up Wen Jiexi’s pants, one could see a long, red mark on the calf. It looked rather serious against the frighteningly pale skin. Su Chenyu took out a common medicine paste form her bag and slowly wiped a generous amount on Wen Jiexi’s wound. Wen Jiexi only felt a cold and soothing feeling overwhelm the pain….but someone with her body should barely register the pain in the first place. It was just a jump rope after all. 

“If you used only a little more strength, your skin would have broken and it might’ve left a scar. You probably would’ve cried to,.”

Su Chenyu saw Wen Jiexi’s thoughts and scolded her. She stood up and patted Wen Jiexi’s head, feeling slick wetness on her hand. 

“Go take a shower and we’ll take a walk outside afterward. The scenery here is quite famous, it would be a pity to not take a look while we’re here.”

“Oh..Oh…” Wen Jiexi nodded her head reluctantly. She wanted to refuse and continue completing her missions without being interrupted, but alas, this was a shared room after all. She would only disturb Goddess Su if she kept exercising, not to mention, she was looking forward to a walk with Goddess Su. Alone!

Outside the hotel….

“Huuuuu….” Wen Jiexi stretched lazily, the fresh air feeling incredibly comfortable against her skin. 

“Sister Su, hurry!” Turning around, she waved at Su Chenyu who was not too far behind her. 

“En.” Su Chenyu nodded, secretly satisfied that Wen Jiexi was calling her more naturally with the more intimate title. 

Their first stop is the nearby convenience store. It was still early in the morning and there was no one out on the roads, only some stray dogs barking here and there. Some chickens were screaming in the distance to greet the dawn, but there were virtually no humans around except for them. A small plot of land sat in front of the houses, some crops planted in the dark soil. The entire community seemed to be self-reliant, completely cut off from urban civilization. There were not many things in the convenience store and it was a small one. An old grandma, probably in her late sixties, sat near the front while watching her TV. She nodded quietly at the two of them before returning back to her show. 

“Sister Su, what do you want to eat?” Wen Jiexi looked left and right. There were very few shelves and only two freezers. No wonder an old grandmother was watching the store for even if a hoodlum wanted to rob the store, there would be nothing here. If a younger person was employed, they would probably fall asleep from boredom….

She grabbed a few packets of potato chips, some sticks of beef jerky, some chocolate, and fudge, even a few cans of juice. If she couldn’t finish it all, there was still Li Lingmeng and Sister Xue to help her out. 

“The shelves are almost completely empty because of you.” Su Chenyu pointed at the sparse shelves, barely a few bags remaining after Wen Jiexi swept by like a tornado. 

“Hehehe, Sister Su, no need to be polite! Whatever you want to eat, I will buy for you! After all, this is for everyone to eat together!” wen Jiexi smiled sheepishly. Su Chenyu patted the little sheep’s head in bemusement and grabbed two more cans of juice from the freezer, 

“This is enough for me.”

After checking out, the two of them carried a bag in each hand and went out on a stroll. The surrounding environment was nice and calm….a good place for old people to retire….

“There is a small forest behind the hotel. There are wild fruits, vegetables, ducks, and chicken there and a large garden!” Wen Jiexi said excitedly as she repeated the information she found on her phone. 

“Let’s go then.”

“Eh? Don’t we need to drop off all this stuff first?” Wen Jiexi looked down at the heavy bags in their hands. 

“It’s ok, it’s not very heavy.” Su Chenyu glanced down at her bags. There were only a few packets of potato chips in the bag she carried. All the heavy cans were carried by Wen Jiexi, so it could be said that she was carrying nothing at all.

“Then let’s go!” Wen Jiexi excitedly pulled Su Chenyu’s hand and led the way. 

Su Chenyu froze when she felt a soft hand wrap around hers. Other than her family, even her long time friend, Wang Anyi, didn’t dare to act so intimate with her. However, she didn’t have any objection to this despite only meeting this little sheep a few times. On the contrary, she liked the feeling of her hand being held. It was an incredible feeling. 

“Sister Su, look! Look, there are the ducks and chickens! There are even tiny ducklings behind them!”

“Wow, there are so many plants here! They’re just like the ones I saw on TV, that one is larger than a house!”

Wow, there are so many fruits here! I wonder if the people at the hotel know how to cultivate them.”

“Flowers, there are so many flowers, whoa…and bees, and butterflies!”

Along the way, Wen Jiexi chittered in a happy voice with no pause. She couldn’t help it, she had only seen places like this in the pictures and it was a novel experience for her. Beside her, Su Chenyu let the little girl drag her around and nodded her head from time to time. She felt that it was a good choice to have dragged the little sheep outside. Meanwhile, invisible to her and everyone else, Dango was happily circling around the two, having fun looking at the unique plants. After almost an hour, they had finally reached the garden clearing. 

They sat together in the pavilion and Wen Jiexi took advantage of the moment to subtly glance at Su Chenyu beside her. The beauty was still a beauty even if she was sweating! She’s beautiful no matter how I look at her! 

“What’s wrong?” Su Chenyu noticed a gaze on her and asked. 

“N-nothing…, oh, that’s right, Sister Su, you’re going to be playing the heroine for your show, right?

“En. A historical drama, I will be playing its heroine.” Su Chenyu grabbed a handkerchief from her pocket and wiped her seat. 

“That’s so awesome! A large-scale palace drama! Wow!” Wen Jiexi looked at Su Chenyu with admiring eyes. Sure enough, Su Chenyu was worthy of being called a Goddess. 

“If you perform well in this drama, you will also be presented with more opportunities.” Su Chenyu pulled out another handkerchief and handed it to Wen Jiexi. 

“Wipe your forehead, otherwise you might catch a cold in this weather. 

“Thank you, Sister Su.”

“Eh? There are actually people here? Someone actually got up this early?” At this moment, an energetic male voice sounded and two males walked over, standing side by side. One was tall and handsome while the other was short yet still good looking. The first man had an indifferent expression, an aloof visage much like Goddess Su. The younger man was more bright and smiled as he greeted them, 

“Hello! What-OH! It’s Goddess Su!”

“Hello.” Su Chenyu nodded politely. 

“Oh Oh! Ah-Cheng! Goddess Su greeted me!” The bright and sunny young man jumped excitedly, pulling on the other man’s sleeve. 

‘Ah, I forgot to introduce myself. I am also an artist at Xingle, the name is Lan Yuyan. Of course, I am a newcomer and I don’t have much experience in acting. But I was casted in this drama, hehe, I’m so lucky! This is my good friend, his name is Yan Haocheng. He’s more famous than me, but also a member from Xingle. He’s a good brother of mine who’s been taking care of me since I was young!”

“Hello…..”The large man standing beside him nodded. 

“I am Wen Jiexi, also an artist from Xingle. Please take care of me.” Wen Jiexi introduced herself with a smile. 

“Hello, hello! It’s good to meet you!” Lan Yuyan reached out and shook Wen Jiexi’s hand. 

Then he turned to Su Chenyu. 

“Goddess, goddess, please give me an autograph! I-I am a big fan of yours!” He rubbed his hands nervously together and stuttered a little. He didn’t care about the fact that they were packed int with another crew, for if it meant meeting Goddess Su, it was worth it. He came out for a walk but didn’t expect to meet his Goddess here. He got excited just thinking about it. I’m SOOOO lucky! 

Wen Jiexi watched the nervous Lan Yuyan, who was about the same size as her, take out a piece of paper and a pen. She grinned at his happy-go-lucky personality. Lan Yuyan scratched his head sheepishly, handing over the pen and paper to Su Chenyu. He blinked and pouted with an expectant look, a look that people couldn’t bear to refuse. 

Su Chenyu and Lan Yuyan stared at each other for a few seconds, before she finally broke the silence and picked up the pen and paper. Wen Jeixi quietly leaned over to watch as Goddess Su sighed with a super-beautiful signature. It was only a quick stroke and it was over quickly, but it was like watching a master of calligraphy. Was Goddess Su also talented in calligraphy too? 

“AHHHH! Thank you, thank you, Goddess Su!” Lan Yuyan held the paper excitedly like a rare and precious treasure. He poked Yan Haocheng with an elbow, 

“Ah-Cheng, look, look! I just got an autograph from the Goddess! When I return, I must frame it up and put it above my bed so I can look at it every day!

“….En, do as you like.” A strange look flashed in yan Haocheng’s eyes and he grabbed Lan Yuyan, dragging him off as he nodded towards Wen Jiexi. 

“We’ll be leaving first, sorry to bother you two.” After saying these concise words, he pulled Lan Yuyan away. Lan Yuyan said in a reluctant tone, 

“Eh? Ah-Cheng, why are you in such a hurry! I still have some things to ask Goddess Su! Ah-Cheng….”

“Sister Su is really popular.” Withdrawing her gaze from the two, Wen Jiexi snickered a little while covering her mouth. Everywhere they went, there was a fan accusing them, it really was quite fun! The man even wants to frame the signature and put it above his bed every day. Hahaha….

“Let’s go, it’s time for breakfast, The shooting will begin at 8:30.” Su Chenyu glanced at the gloating Wen Jiexi and pinched the little sheep’s nose before getting up and making her way to the hotel. 

“Ah! Sister Su! Wait for me!’ Wen Jeixi quickly grabbed the bags beside her and ran after Su Chenyu.
