Ch.64- No money? Then pay with your face?!

The lips pressed against hers made Wen Jiexi’s heart tremble. 

When she was younger, she had dreamt of fantasies of her first love based on the novels she read. Like every other girl, she wanted her own Prince Charming. 

She never knew that girls can…kiss other girls. Yet, despite the other party being a woman like herself….., she didn’t feel any discomfort or nausea kissing another woman. Instead, she felt…at ease…as if she was floating on air! 

Was it because the other party is Sister Su? Wen Jiexi stared blankly at the beautiful face in front of her when the other party also opened their eyes. The two of them stared at each other. She saw a bit of frustration and nervousness in the other person’s eyes as those lips left her. She felt rather disappointed that those lips left her. There was still some warmth left on her lips, and Wen Jiexi subconsciously licked her lips to retain that warmth.

Su Chenyu watched as Wen Jiexi’s pink tongue licked her soft lips and felt her own throat go dry. She felt that the person in front of her with a slightly flushed face and swollen lips was ten times more attractive than before. She wanted to continue, but there was a problem! She. Doesn’t. Know. How. In other words, she didn’t know what to do after the kiss! She forgot to ask Li Lingqing to teach her the following process!! 

“What do you think?” Although she was reluctant to stop. Su Chenyu could only suppress her restlessness. She comforted herself that she will have another opportunity in the future and instead lowered her head to ask what the little cutie in her arms was thinking. 

“Ah…very…very good!” Wen Jiexi stammered.

“Jiexi, why did you guys kiss all of a sudden!” Dango, who was originally hiding in the corner while eating chocolate, almost spit out the chocolate in its mouth when the kiss happened. 

I-I don’t know either….

“Then is she trying to establish a relationship? The tv show I watched before showed something similar! The male lead pressed the heroine against the wall and then kissed the heroine fiercely. Then the two got together after that, um…although you are both women, in the popular science fiction shows I watched, there are many plots with two female leads. I mean, it’s kinda rare, and there aren’t a lot of male x male relationships either, but it still happens! So~ So~ What’s the relationship between the two of you going to be like now?” 

I…don’t know….Dango’s words shocked Wen Jiexi deeply and woke her from her daze. Yes, they’ve kissed each other now so….what is their relationship? 

“What’s the matter?” Su Chenyu looked at the dazed Wen Jiexi and felt a little panicked. 

“Just…the kiss, no, the kiss on the lips usually means something special. So why did you kiss me?” Wen Jiexi raised her head and looked at Su Chenyu.

“Why?” Su Chenyu tilted her head, 

“Because I like you. I like you.”

The earnest response made her heartbeat beat faster. 

“Then how are we….” Wen Jiexi was interrupted by Su Chenyu before she could finish. 

“Wifey.” 

“Eh?”

“Li Lingqing called Chu Heling her wifey so you are my wifey.” Su Chenyu pointed at Wen Jiexi and then at herself. Then she nodded to herself like she was agreeing with her own words. 

“Oh, so those two really are….” Wen Jiexi’s words were stopped by a finger pressed to her lips. 

“Let’s not talk about them. Remember, as my wifey, I expect a special present for my birthday.” 

But what exactly counted as ‘special’? 

The two stared at each other. While one of them was thinking about searching up the answer on Baidu later, the other was secretly thinking about asking Li Lingqing for more advice. (T/N: Baidu is the Google of China)

Hmph, that idiot didn’t clarify everything so now I don’t know what to do next!

Li Lingqing: Don’t blame me! How would I know you would actually succeed! 

And so, the two somehow settled into a relationship, carelessly said a few words, and then hugged each other to sleep. 

In the future, when they told others about this moment, all single dogs cried tears of blood. 

Single Dogs: What love letters? What gifts? What’s the use of sweet words when we can never get a girlfriend/boyfriend! Yet they got together so easily! How unfair!!

Su Chenyu: There is no fairness in this world.

The next day, Wen Jiexi and Su Chenyu walked out together as usual and bumped into Li Lingqing who was waiting outside their door. She was leaning against the wall when she saw the two and her eyes lit up with curiosity. 

“Little Xi, you should go down first.” Su Chenyu patted Wen Jiexi on the shoulder and said.

“Ok.” Wen Jiexi glanced at the two of them but simply nodded her head and left. Li Lingqing is already taken after all, what did she have to worry about? 

“How was it?” Watching Wen Jiexi’s retreating back, Li Lingqing immediately asked the question on her mind. 

“It is done.” Su Chenyu said lightly.

Li Lingqing: Can’t you elaborate more? Let’s have a happy conversation! 

“Looking at your face, I’m guessing the results were good. Remember to give me a reward. Actually, I have a few annoyances under me. I would like you to help me discipline them a little.” Li Lingqing said with folded arms. 

“I might help but on one condition…” Su Chenyu did not immediately agree as she raised her eyebrows. 

Hearing her words, Li Lingqing almost spat out blood in anger. She had helped this idiot get a girlfriend and now she asks the idiot for help but there are conditions?!! Although she was joking previously….it was still a success! Isn’t she supposed to be the hero right now! Although she thought about that in her heart, she couldn’t say that out loud and only rubbed her nose as she asked, 

“What condition?” 

“What do you do after the kiss?” Su Chenyu asked as she looked at Li Lingqing like she was looking at a fool. Sure, Li Lingqing had taught her about the kiss yesterday but didn’t say anything about the after. Was she really a smart and well-read President? 

The veins on Li Lingqing’s forehead bulged at Su Chenyu’s disdainful expression and then took a deep breath, 

“You two have just established your relationship. The next step is to cultivate feelings. Furthermore, you two don’t even know about each other’s family’s affairs yet. There are all kinds of things you two need to learn about each other. The relationship needs to be strengthened step by step and then you will naturally see if you two are actually compatible or not. After all, who kisses someone and then immediately moves on to something like marriage? Then you’ll be regarded as a shameless person. You gotta take it slow.” 

“Cultivate feelings?” Su Chenyu muttered to herself. As for the other stuff…..did she need to ask for consent from her family? No, her family couldn’t control her and everything she has done since childhood was her own decision. She was also willing to bear all the consequences and take responsibility. So there should be no trouble from her family. As for Little Xi….as long as they have a loving and good relationship, why should she care about what others thought? 

“Let’s go eat first, you can’t force this stuff and it’s not like there are specific requirements or anything. You can read a few books on how to cultivate feelings and they should give you a few pointers. But in the end, you’re going to have to make the final decision on how you want to do this. Other people can’t help you.” Li Lingqing shrugged and headed downstairs.

Pointers, huh? I’ll ask Sister Wang then. Su Chenyu thought. 

Wang Anyi: Hey, hey, I’m an agent but that doesn’t include relationship advice! I’m not your babysitter, don’t count on me for help.

Wen Jiexi, who was having breakfast with Chu Heling and others downstairs, looked up as the two came down. 

“Sister Su, over here!” 

“Tsk…the smell of love is so sour…” Li Lingqing snorted and then sat beside Chu Heling. 

Su Chenyu ignored a certain someone who always complained despite being in a relationship herself and sat next to Wen Jiexi. Immediately after sitting down, Wen Jiexi gave Su Chenyu a plate of fried eggs, hams toast, and a bowl of fried noodles. 

“Sister Su, eat up! I’ll help you get more if it isn’t enough.” Wen Jiexi said with a smile and then put down several different kinds of jams in front of Su Chenyu for her to choose from. Then she ate her own toast happily. 

“Here, have a cup of milk.” Su Chenyu poured two cups of milk, one for herself and another for Wen Jiexi. 

Li Lingqing watched the interaction between the two. Before she had thought it was merely a case of the junior taking care of their senior but after knowing the through, the scene between the two was even more sweet and greasy than before. The pink bubbles around them were really blinding her dog eyes. Wait, no, she had her own wifey! 

Thinking like this, Li Lingqing looked at Chu Heling who was eating breakfast elegantly beside him, leaned over and then said coquettishly, 

“Wifey….Heling…where’s my breakfast….” 

Chu Helign raised her eyes and looked at the person in front of her. Even though Li Lingqing’s face was serious, the words coming from her mouth were not. This person sure knew how to act in front of the camera. 

“Get it yourself. By the way, grab some milk while you’re at it.”

Li Lingqing: Does my wifey no longer think I’m cute!! QAQ

After everyone finished eating, Old Zhan came in late and yelled, 

“Hahahaha! Everyone, look forward to today’s game! It will be absolutely exciting and I guaranteed you will never forget it! Are you guys excited or what!” 

“Yay….” 

“Wooo….” 

The people who were chatting happily glanced at the annoying Old Zhan and answered back robotically before bowing their heads to continue eating. 

“Hey, hey! Can you guys be any lazier! This cannot do! Pack your things and follow me!” Old Zhan jumped up angrily at the cold reactions. 

Wen Ting: “We don’t have any luggage with us.” 

Lan Yuyan: “Can we not follow you….” 

Shi Junmao: “This place is so nice, why don’t we play here instead….” 

“This is a variety show, youngsters! Don’t be like this! If this continues, you’ll only get fat! Do you want me to compile a report on how many calories you guys intake every day? Every single one of you will get a copy!” Old Zhan said while taking out a phone from his pocket and then grinning evilly. 

Except for the three people who would not get fat no matter how much they eat, all the others stopped eating and silently put down the food in their hands. 

“We’re full.” An actor’s body figure is their life! They can’t let it grow fat! 

“Alright, let’s go! The next place we’re going is a bit of distance from here. It took us a long time to find this place! Just you wait, this will be great! Get in the car!” Old Zahn saw that his words had effect and ignored the glares as he waved his hands triumphantly in the air. 

Half an hour later, they assembled and boarded the car especially prepared for them. With a TV in front, a game console, and many books, one could tell that this was going to be a long journey. Old Zhan said the trip would take more than two hours and so he was provided some entertainment in case they got bored. 

Wen Jiexi looked at the pile of snacks in the basket in front of her. Actually, other than during games, Old Zhan was very considerate to them. It’s just his personality that was too annoying so most people would forget about his good parts. 

Shi Junmao, Lan Yuyan, and Wen Ting directly started playing with the game console and happily played together. The others were comparatively quieter and picked up a book or magazine to read while Uncle Mu Du closed his eyes. Soon after, there was a slight snoring sound and it seemed the old man had fallen asleep. 

“Do you want to do anything?” Su Chenyu whispered softly and asked Wen Jiexi who was sitting next to her. 

“No.” Wen Jiexi rubbed her eyes and shook her head. Those books didn’t seem interesting and most of the magazines were about business, clothes, or cosmetics. In fact, most of the books were chicken soup for the soul, in other words, books about calming down and soothing the mind. Just what were they going to do that needed soothing? 

Why would one have to read books about soothing the soul for a variety show? Wen Jiexi complained inside her heart. It seems that even if Old Zhan prepared something for them, it was in a rather strange direction….

“If you don’t want to read then you can close your eyes and rest instead.” Su Chenyu hugged Wen Jiexi closer to her so that Wen Jiexi could lean more comfortably on her shoulder. 

“Hmm….” She wanted to say that she didn’t need to sleep and that she can just watch Wen Ting and the others play but that light and sweet fragrance entered her nose. She nodded and leaned into Su Chenyu’s arms. It was a two-hour drive anyways, might as well get some sleep. 

Sitting beside them, Chu Heling patted the person next to her that kept drifting their eyes towards the two of them. 

“Stop staring….nothing’s going to happen no matter how much you stare.” She never knew Li Lingqing was such a busybody. 

“That’s not it, wifey~ I was just thinking about the future. Think about it, when this show is aired, what are the chances Su Chenyu will ignore all the questions no matter how many people call her? Then, think about the few of us who were in close contact with these two. What is the probability that they will bother us instead?” 

Chu Heling thought about it….it made sense but….

“Just say we don’t know anything. Then turn off the phone if it gets words. Anyway, it’s going to be Sister Chenyu’s birthday soon and she’ll solve it herself.” 

“Oh right, how could I forget about that.” Li Lingqing rubbed her chin. She forgot about his simple method. Could it be that she has sate too much dog food that has caused her brain to short circuit? 

Everyone else” Actually, the two of you are about the same. Do you not have any awareness!” 

“What I am worried about is not the public’s opinion or Sister Chenyu’s family but the many people who were pursuing Sister Chenyu previously.” Chu Heling hesitantly said and looked worriedly at Wen Jiexi sleeping in Su Chenyu’s arms. Sometimes, love is not as simple as one thinks. There are many tests and challenges to go through such as public image, family background, etc. 

Li Lingqing is the heir to the family business and her parents have long given up on managing her since most of the power was in her hands. And Chu Heling herself had a few older brothers and sisters that her parents constantly worried about so no one cared about what she did. But Su Chenyu and Wen Jiexi were different. To put it nicely, they only need to work hard to weather out the storm before reaching their happy ending. To put it more realistically, if one party decides to give up then everything is over.

“This isn’t something we can interfere in but we will do our best to support whatever Su Chenyu chooses to do. As for those pursuers…I believe Su Chenyu will solve the problem soon enough. Just there will be some people who will be a lot trickier to deal with.” Li Lingqing rubbed her chin and her eyes narrowed slightly. 

“En….” Chu Heling studied Li Lingiqng. Although on the surface Li Linqing and Su Chenyu constantly argued, Chu Heling understood that Li Lingqing actually admired Su Chenyu the most among their group of friends. It’s just her way of expressing it was…a bit peculiar. Furthermore, she agreed with Li Lingqing’s words. Su Chenyu was not one to listen to other people’s opinions and would solve everything sooner or later. 

The car finally arrived at the destination just before noon. They stopped in front of a very tall building that looked to be around thirty for forty stories high and seemed to be in the middle of a shopping plaza. 

“Don’t tell me our game today is to go shopping!” Shi Junmao looked up dazedly at the building. 

The moment they had stepped out of the car, they had captured a lot of attention from the shoppers. Many people stared at the group of players wearing animal costumes and took out their mobile phones to take pictures. 

“Impossible. If we let you go shopping, where will you get the money for it all?” Lao Zhan angrily pushed Shi Junmao out of the way.

“Let’s take care of lunch first. You’re going to have to use your own money to fill up your stomach and then gather at the lobby on the first floor of this building when you’re done. 

“We have to pay for our own lunch?” Mu Du’s eyes widened. 

“Unless you want to eat my leftovers, of course, you have to pay for your own meal! 

Eat his leftovers….Just thinking about it made Wen Jiexi shudder. 

Old Zhan left the group of players behind and only left a few crew members to watch them in case they get into any accidents. 

“What do you want to eat?” Wen Jiexi felt a little awkward as she held her money tightly in her hands. If she really wanted to feed herself and Su Chenyu, the cost might be too high for the current penniless group. 

“Why not eat something from the convenience store?” Wen Ting pointed to the convenience store where many busy people bought their meals.

“But…it’s not like we can do a dine and dash either. We are artists after all.” Huo Lin’er said weakly. 

“Dine and dash might be impossible but he didn’t say we can’t make money while eating.” Mu Du’s eyes lit up and he clapped his hands.

“What do you mean? Brother Mu, there are very few vendors here, we can’t earn much from helping them wait tables.” Shi Junmao scratched his head and said.

“Who said we’re going to wait tables!” Mu Du slapped Shi Junmao on the back of his head. 

“What I meant was we can help people advertise their food or something. Then they might give us discounts on food!” 

Do we have to beg people for discounts too?! Ah, our hearts hurt!  

They used to be people who never lacked any money and yet the nine actors plus president had actually fallen to this point….

“Leave this to me.” Li Lingqing said helplessly and then dragged Chu Heling towards a building. 

“Hey, where are you going! We can’t afford to eat over there!” Wen Ting shouted after them. 

“Let’s go follow them.” Su Chenyu said and then grabbed Wen Jiexi’s hand. 

“Ok.” Wen Jiexi nodded obediently.

None of them noticed that the passers-by who were taking pictures all let out a gasp of surprise. They also didn’t know that these photos had led to their variety show entering the top ten trending searches. 

“Whaaaa! Goddess Su is so gentle!” 

“Seeking information, who is the cute little sheep next to her!” 

“Hey, comment upstairs, who is it other than the Little Sheep! I never expected she was actually Su Chenyu’s….” 

“Wuwuwuwu! I could’ve fought off anyone else but if it’s Goddess Su…emmm, I can’t do anything!” 

“Don’t you think these two look good together? Not only based on their clothes, but also on their looks and personality. I will gladly eat a bowl of dog food in support!” 

“Agreed, this CP is my new favorite!” 

The public’s opinion continued to grow louder and most were in support of the couple. Although Wen Jiexi did have a few anti-fans jump out and insult her, most of them were quickly suppressed by Su Chenyu and Wen Jiexi’s fans. The two groups seemed to have already formed an alliance. Especially the Su fans who immediately offered to form an iron-tight friendship with the Wen fans. As people who have been fans of Su Chenyu since the very beginning, the Su fans were immediately able to gather together with great firepower. 

Just how powerful, you ask? 

Let’s say you were someone who wanted to insult or curse Su Chenyu. Well then, you better prepare to have all of your private information and even information on your ancestors up to the eighteenth generation will be spread across the entire intranet. 

And so, because of this group of fans, Su Chenyu’s Weibo had always been clean and tidy without a single hater. 

And now that Wen Jiexi has received the Su fan’s blessing, her Weibo was like a tiger that had grown wings and now all the anti-fans and haters that once appeared on her social media were wiped out without a trace. 

Of course, the two of them had no idea about this online struggle as they followed Li Lingqing to the most exquisite and expensive area of the shopping plaza. 

“Is it ok for us to be here…..” Looking at the men and women in suits and stern smiles on their faces, anyone could tell this was not a place ordinary people can afford to eat at. Furthermore, the few of them stood out even more in such a conspicuous area. Although Wen Jiexi trusted Li Lingqing, she still felt nervous facing so many eyes. 

“Don’t worry, we’re not going to dine and dash.” Su Chenyu patted Wen Jiexi’s head. 

“President Li, we can’t afford to eat here!” Shi Junmao looked at the exquisite menu posted on the window outside. The food in the pictures looked delicate and delicious but the price was overwhelming. Maybe if they pooled all their money they could buy enough food for 2-3 people. 

“You don’t have to pay, just need you to pay with your face and it’ll be enough.” Li Lingqing glanced at him and smiled and then walked towards the restaurant. 

Pay with your face? Was this some new form of payment he didn’t know about? 

They watched as Li Lingqing walked through the door and then saw a man appear. The man wore a white suit and smiled a flattering smile at Li Lingqing. 

“Boss, it’s really you! Is Boss going to eat here today?” 

“En. We have ten people in our party. Put it on my tab.” Li Lingqing pointed to the people behind her. 

“Alright, you got it! Please, come in.” The man immediately waved for everyone to enter.

Other than Su Chenyu and Chu Heling who already knew, everyone else was stunned. 

Boss?!! So she’s the Boss of this place?!
