Ch.74- Brother Wen’s life is full of vomiting blood?!!

“Uh…daughter?” Wen Shan swallowed, and he looked at the big dog in front of him hesitantly. In his heart, he thought about every possible scenario. If his daughter really did turn into a dog he would love her just the same! Oh, wuwuwu….my poor daughter… 

Wen Jiexi stood up after untying her shoes and saw her father looking at Big Black’s with a sad yet loving expression. The distress and determined look in her eyes made her feel happy. Could it be that her father really likes Big Black? That would be great! 

“Dad, this is Big Black! She’s the dog I want to raise!” Wen Jiexi said, patting Big Black’s head. 

“Ah?…..Ah?” Wen Shan felt started by Wen Jiexi’s sudden appearance and then looked at his daughter in confusion before looking at the big dog again. 

“Dad?” Wen Jiexi tilted her head. Why was everyone acting so weirdly today? 

“Ahh….Little Xi, welcome home.” Wen Shan said dryly. No matter how you look at it, it was truly too embarrassing to treat this big dog as his daughter. In order to conceal it, Wen Shan patted Big Black’s head, 

“So this is Big Black?” 

“En! Big Black is very well-behaved! Can we raise her?” Wen Jiexi asked. 

“Of course we can.” How could Wen Shan refuse the request of his baby girl? He waved for his daughter to come in, “Come in first, as for Big Black…we’ll hire someone to take care of her. I let her stay in the courtyard for now and then ask someone to build a dog house for her.” 

“Yay!” Wen Jiexi nodded happily, and then patted Big Black’s head, “Big Black, stay here, I’m going in first!” 

Awooo! Big Black rubbed against Wen Jiexi’s palm and then sat obediently on the ground as she wanted her master to enter the manor. 

Inside the living room that was three times larger than the one in her old house, Tan Yashi sat on the sofa elegantly while drinking tea. When she saw Wen Jiexi come in, she immediately sat up. 

“Little Xi, you’re back!” 

“Mom.” Wen Jiexi came to Tan Yashi’s side, sat down beside her mother and then quickly ate a few grapes from the table beside them. 

“You greedy little cat~” Tan Yashi helplessly patted Wen Jiexi’s head, her words full of love. 

“Dad, why did you suddenly decide to move? Did brother’s business hit it big?” Wen Jiexi swallowed the food in her mouth and asked. 

“Ah? Cough….” Wen Shan was taken aback when he heard Wen Jiexi’s question and almost choked on his saliva. It was only now did he realized that his daughter still believed that their family was only running a small company. Ai, it seems one little white lie now had to be supplemented by countless more. 

“En….the family will be attending a banquet next Sunday to celebrate. Little Xi, you will need to be there as well. There will be a lot of guests there. We also decided it was time to move to a bigger house because….we thought that since we have the money that we might as well move to a quieter and more convenient residence.” 

The Wen family rarely participated in such high-class and large-scale banquets. “This….this….” Wen Jiexi looked at her father and then at her mother. Their expressions told her there would be no room for compromise, which put Wen Jiexi in a difficult spot. It seemed she could not escape attending the banquet, but what about Sister Su….

“Speaking of, I heard you and our nation’s Goddess have become very close. She is called….Su Chenyu, right? This bracelet….I remember seeing her wear something like this before.” Tan Yashi looked at the lavender bracelet on Wen Jiexi’s wrist, a deep look flashing in her eyes. 

“Yes, this was given to me by Sister Su. Sister Su is very nice and took care of me during the filming!” Wen Jiexi didn’t know what she should tell her parents about their relationship. However, at the very least, she could say some nice things about Su Chenyu in front of them. 

“Ai, if you have the time, you should ask her to come visit us and let your parents have a little talk with her.” Tan Yashi said with a smile.

Wen Shan: Hey, what about my opinion! My baby is about to be given away! QAQ 

“Alright, I’ll invite Sister Su to visit sometime. However she seems to have a very busy schedule so I don’t know when she’ll be free.” Wen Jiexi’s eyes had lit up at her mother’s words. Does this mean her parents liked Sister Su? Oh, wait, what about the birthday party! 

“Dad, Mom, next Sunday is Sister Su’s birthday. I have already agreed that I would spend the day with her and celebrate her birthday.” 

“En, I see nothing wrong with that, but you still have to attend the banquet.” Tan Yashi said with a smile, and then seeing her daughter open her mouth to protest, she lightly patted her daughter’s head, 

“Don’t worry about it. Who knows, maybe there will be a surprise when you get there.” 

“I….” Before Wen Jiexi finished her words, she was interrupted again by a smirking Tan Yashi, 

“As for the dress for the banquet, you just let your brother take care of it. Our little princess will have a beautiful debut! Alright, mom still has some things to do this afternoon so I need to go first. Wang Ma, are the materials ready?” 

“Yes, madam, they’ve been sent to your room.” Wang Ma’s voice rang out. 

Wen Jiexi turned to look at her father pitifully, hoping that he could convince her mother for her but Wen Shan only scratched his nose and then stood up, 

“Little Xi, Dad’s company sent over a lot of documents that need to be processed. You just came back so you should take a break and rest up. Don’t worry about the other stuff.” 

Wen Jiexi: QAQ Am I no longer my family’s beloved darling? 

Under the guidance of Wang Ma, Wen Jiexi was led to her new room which was twice as big as her previous room. The furnishings were the exact same but instead of a single bed there was now a double bed. 

Pa…..

She fell onto the bed and lay there with a lost expression. 

“Isn’t it just one birthday? Why are you acting like that? Birthdays happen every year.” Dango said lazily while lying on Wen Jiexi’s pillow. 

“You don’t understand. This will be our first birthday spent together.” Wen Jiexi said sadly. 

“Going to a banquet is more fun. There’s going to be delicious food and lots of fun things to do. What’s wrong with having fun? You can deal with the birthday thing another time.” Dango seemed to be losing focus as drool ran out of the little ghost mouth. It seems like the little ghost only had food on the grain. 

“Birthdays can not be celebrated at another time. You have to celebrate it on the actual day.” Wen Jiexi glanced at Dango helplessly and decided not to continue this pointless discussion with Dango. After all, the little ghost was a non-living creature. How could Dango understand something like birthdays? 

She took out her phone and then pulled up Su Chenyu’s number. She looked at the screen in hesitation. Should she send a message to Su Chenyu and tell her about the banquet? How should she start? 

Meanwhile, the person who Wen Jiexi would never forget was currently facing a very angry brother while drinking tea calmly. 

“Leave us.” Wen Linshu suppressed his anger as he ordered Wang Anyi and Lin Yunxi to leave.

“But…” Lin Yunxi looked at them worriedly. It was obvious that the atmosphere was tense between the two. If they left the two of them alone, who knows if these two will start fighting each other? However, while she contemplated how to become Little Su’s physical meat shield, she was pulled out of the office by Wang Qnyi. 

“Sister Wang! With us out here, won’t the President take advantage of our absence to hit our Little Su? I think our President is on the verge of snapping!” 

“This is a family matter….a private matter. They will have to work it out themselves. But they will not start hitting each other.” Wang Anyi looked at Lin Yunxi’s worked up expression and couldn’t help but hold her forehead helplessly. This assistant had such a vivid imagination. 

Meanwhile, inside the office, the tension was reaching a breaking point. One side was about to explode while the other was still as calm as water. Wen Linshu breathed in deeply, but then remembered when his little sister’s soft hands were held by a certain big bad wolf. From time to time, the big bad wolf also even hugged and leaned in to whisper into Little Xi’s ears, causing his little sister to blush. 

Every time he saw something like that, Wen Linshu wanted to rush forward and slap the damn woman. This damn woman actually dared to covet after his sister! Don’t you know that everyone except for family must stay at least five meters away from my sister! If you break past that boundary, then you are this brother’s enemy! 

Su Chenyu: You’re a psycho! 

GAHHHHHH! 

Like a dragon breathing fire, Wne Linshu pointed at Su Chenyu, 

“You actually dare to go after my sister!” 

“What did I do?” Goddess Su raised her eyebrows.

Wen Linshu stared at her: “You held my sister’s hand!”

Su Chenyu: “I did that to prevent her from getting lost.” 

Wen Linshu jumped up: “You hugged her!” 

Su Chenyu: Giving people hugs allows others to know they are being cared for.” 

Wen Linshu was driven mad by her words: “You also lean in towards her ear and whisper things that make her blush!” 

A gloating smile and a look of satisfaction flashed through Su Chenyu’s eyes: “That just means she likes it.” 

In three rounds, Wne Linshu committed three mouthfuls of blood, one liter after another….The fallen Wen Linshu stood up with the support of the table. The enemy was just too powerful, but….he….he can still fight! 

“I object! You are a woman who dares to covet after my Little Xi! As her brother, I must absolutely object to this relationship!” Heng! Don’t think I don’t see what kind of gaze you use to look at Little Xi! These strange feelings of yours must be killed before they can leave the cradle! 

Su Chenyu looked at the man who is brimming with resentment and at the same time the man who naively keeps repeating that he is Little Xi’s big brother. She squinted her eyes in amusement, 

“You told me to take care of her last time.” 

Puahhh! This time he vomited three liters of blood in one go. Wen Linshu was slapped in the face by his words, oh it hurts so much! 

I told you to take care of her in a normal way! You’re obviously taking care of her in a bad way with bad intentions! 

In his heart, Wen Linshu’s biggest regret is that he couldn’t go back in time and kill the past him who was stupid enough to say something like that. 

“I have something to do so I’m leaving first. Oh, by the way, now that Little Xi is my wife, I guess should start calling you…..Big~Brother~” Su Chenyu held open the door as she looked back at Wen Linshu and then left after emphasizing the last two words. 

Wen Linshu froze for a second….two seconds….three seconds…..what did Su Chenyu just say? Did she say Little Xi is her wife?!!! When did they move so fast!

“I object! I absolutely object to this!” 

“It’s so noisy in there, what is the President doing?” Lin Yunxi looked towards the wailing coming from the office and then at the unharmed Su Chenyu. She breathed a sigh of relief, and continued to look at the office door suspiciously. 

“Recurrent seizures.” Su Chenyu said lightly.

Everyone else: Is it okay for us to leave the President like this? 

“Let’s go back first.”  Su Chenyu took the lead and walked towards the elevator. 

“Little Su, now that the variety show is over, what are you going to do next? I have picked out a few scripts the company has sent me. Oh, right, Director Peng recently said that he is going to write a new drama. He asked if you’re interested in participating. I’ll pass along the script and you can take a look.” 

Director Peng….

Su Chenyu raised an eyebrow. 

“When will it start?” 

“They’re still in the middle of writing the script. What I have is the latest version and they’ll start casting next month. So there should be another two months or so.” Wang Anyi glanced at the notes on her phone and said.

“Then please pay attention to Director Peng for me first.” Su Chenyu decided.

“Understood.” Wang Anyi nodded. Indeed, of all the scripts, Director Peng’s should be given the most priority. 

They got into the car and Su Chenyu leaned back in her seat, closing her eyes to rest when a quiet DiDi sound rang out from her phone. She frowned and saw that the message was from 「Little Sheep Wifey]. 

Little Sheep Wifey: “Sister Su, this….there’s something I have to tell you…” (Blushing.emoji)

Su Chenyu: “What’s wrong.”

The person on the other side seemed to have been waiting for her to reply as another message arrived within seconds. 

Little Sheep Wifey: “Something came up next week so I can’t celebrate your birthday with you! (crying.emoji)

Su Chenyu: “En.” 

Little Sheep Wifey: “Mom and Dad said that they want me to go to a banquet next week, but I can’t get out of it. I’m sorry, Sister Su. I know we promised each other.”

Su Chenyu: “Is that so? That’s okay then, we can push back the celebration a little bit later. Banquets only last till around eight or nine at most.” 

Little Sheep Wifey: “Eh!! Really???Then Sister Su must wait for me! QAQ” 

Su Chenyu: “Of course.” 

Little Sheep Wifey: “Hehehe, I like Sister Su the most~ (memeda.jpg)” 

(T/N: memeda is slang for ‘muah’ or a kissing sound)

Su Chenyu: “I also like you the most.”

There were no more new messages from the other side, but that did not affect Su Chenyu’s happy mood. Her fingers lightly tapped against the handle of her seat. The banquet….I’m looking forward to it.

Lin Yunxi: Sister Wang, I think Little Su has been acting weird recently. 

Wang Anyi rolled her eyes at Lin Yunxi: I don’t need you to tell me. I can smell the sourness of love all the way from here.

Meanwhile, on a big bed in the middle of a room, a figure was currently rolling around while holding a phone, 

“Whaaaaa!” 

“Jiexi, are you going crazy?” Dango pouted and said. 

“N-No….” Wen Jiexi held her blushing cheeks and then looked at the sentence Sister Su had sent her. [I also like you the most.」The uncontrollable excitement in her heart couldn’t be restrained anymore. Wuwuwu! I want to run over to Sister Su’s house and play with her! 

Wen Linshu, who was currently rushing home, suddenly felt a sense of crisis. It was that feeling again. The feeling that his sister is about to be snatched up by another person. He frowned and urged Long Huiguang who was driving, 

“Drive faster.” 

“Yes, President. We’ll be there in five minutes.” Long Huiguang realized the President’s schizophrenia was acting up again. It’ll be better if she just drives quickly in silence. 

As soon as they arrived at the manor, Wen Linshu opened the gates with his special code and then signaled that Long Huiguang leave first. He then closed the gates and slowly stepped onto the cobblestone road, when suddenly a black shadow flashed past making him jump up alertly. He looked in a certain direction….

“Oh you’re that dog Little Xi wants to raise.” 

When Big Black heard the stranger speak, she stopped running widely and then sat patiently on the ground to observe Wen Linshu. 

Big Black: En, you look somewhat like my master and smell the same, but my master is much more beautiful! 

Wen Linshu who felt like he was just insulted: ……

“Come here, let me take a look at you.” Wen Linshu waved towards Big Black. 

Big Black hesitated before obediently stepping towards Wen Linshu. Wen Linshu then unceremoniously rubbed Big Black’s head and then mumbled, 

“Smarter than imagined, most likely much more so than Su Chenyu’s stupid dog.” 

Big White: What do you have against me! This young master is so smart and such a good boy! 

“Oh, right!” Wen Linshu took out his phone, unlocked it and then showed a photo of Su Chenyu towards the dog, 

“Big Black, let me tell you, in the future if you see this person you must immediately pounce on her! You must not let her approach your little master! This is a big bad wolf and she wanted to take your little master away! You must drive her away, understood?” 

Big Black looked at the person in the photo. If she remembered correctly, her master had a very good relationship with this other person. If her master didn’t take her in, then this other person would’ve instead. So how could this woman be as bad as this man says? 

Seeing that Big Black was staring intensely at the photo in his hand, Wen Linshu was very proud of himself. Hehe, next time Su Chenyu comes to visit, there will be a big surprise for her! Just thinking about it made him feel better and he walked into the house with a smug gaze. However, he did not notice Big Black’s sympathetic gaze behind him. 

Big Black: Ai, I never expected master’s brother to be such a fool. 

Wen Linshu, who had no idea he was being insulted by a dog, opened the door and was greeted by Wang Ma. 

“Young Master, you’re back.” 

“Where’s Little Xi?” Wen Linshu asked as he took off his suit jacket and began to untie his tie. 

“The Young Miss is resting upstairs, she should still be in her room.” 

“Are there any snacks I can bring up to her?” Wen Linshu asked while brushing his hair. 

“Yes, I just made some fresh milk pudding with thin biscuits and a slice of chocolate cake with a glass of orange juice on the side.” Wang Ma replied immediately. Normally she wouldn’t make so many desserts as only Wen Jiexi ate sweet things. However, since Wen Jiexi has returned, Wang Ma deliberately made more today. 

“Then I’ll take two portions of that please. I’ll take them up, no need to trouble you.” Wen Linshu nodded and said with satisfaction. With this, Little Xi will be very happy! 

Da!Da!Da! 

Wen Linshu knocked on the door and then waited for the door to open. 

Shua….the door opened to reveal Wen Jiexi’s little blushing face. 

“Brother, you’re back! Oooh, snacks! Come in, come in!” Wen Jiexi said excitedly and then opened the door wider to let Wen Linshu enter. 

“Little Xi, why is your face red? Are you feeling uncomfortable?” Wen Linshu frowned slightly, and asked worriedly. 

“No, no, it’s nothing. I was just lying on the bed just now and then felt a little warm.” Wne Jiexi patted her cheeks gingerly. She had already washed her face three times with cold water, but the heat was still there. She could only glance guilty at her brother as she told a little white lie. 

“Is that so? As long as you’re feeling okay.” Wne Linshu, who was setting down the tray of snacks, did not see the guilty look his sister sent his way. He sat down and then pointed to the seat opposite of him. 

“Little Xi, sit here.” 

“Ok!” Wen Jiexi immediately sat down and Wen Linshu set a glass of orange in front of her along with the desserts. He motioned for her to eat while he talked. 

“Mom and Dad should’ve already told you by now but let me say it again. Besides going to school, you must spend your time at the designer’s. I have arranged for the best dress designer out there  to work on your dress. I guarantee that if you work with them, you’ll be the most beautiful girl there.” Wne Linshu smiled. He had actually found several famous designers to work together and make sure that their little princess will be the most dazzling girl in the room. 

“Wu…..I need to get measured for my dress too?” Wen Jiexi ate her pudding obediently but pouted at her brother’s words. She never expected the banquet to be so troublesome. She pouted some more. If Sister Su had not agreed to wait for her, she wouldn’t have bothered going to that stupid banquet! 

“Of course! This banquet is very important, and a lot of people will be there. If someone tries to talk to you but you don’t want to talk to them, then you can just gracefully decline them. You can go through the entire banquet without talking to anyone and only have to eat your snacks in the corner if you want to. The banquet will be over by eight, so you just have to bear with it for a few hours.” Seeing Wen Jiexi’s face full of reluctance, Wen Linshu also felt a bit of pain for his sister. However, he couldn’t do anything about it. The previous Little Xi was to be protected and she was not allowed to participate in these things. 

However, Wen Jiexi just couldn’t keep hiding like this. Before she couldn’t attend due to her poor health, but now it was better so she didn’t need to hide anymore. And not to mention, they only picked the banquet due to the host’s status. And this time this was an invitation from a major family , so they could not refuse to attend, otherwise they would only invite criticism from others. 

Because of this, they decided that this would be the most suitable occasion for Wen Jiexi to make her social debut. It will also have the largest audience, so there will be more people to witness his sister’s beauty. 

“I only have to eat snacks in the corner? Ok….but I will have to leave at exactly eight!” Wen Jiexi’s eyes brightened again. Eating desserts to pass the time isn’t a bad idea and maybe she can bring some of the delicious snacks to Sister Su and they can then enjoy it together! 

“What’s the matter Little Xi, why do you look so excited?” Wen Linshu asked amusedly. Seeing his sister suddenly look so vigorated made him chuckle a little. 

“En! That’s because I made an appointment with Sister Su to celebrate her birthday after the banquet. She said she would wait for me to celebrate it with her!” Wen Jiexi said honestly without concealing it.

After hearing the reason, Wen Linshu felt a pain in his chest. His sister actually wanted to celebrate with that woman! He was going to die and ascend to heaven at this point! 

He forced a pained smile, 

“W-With Su Chenyu…you’re going to celebrate Su Chenyu’s birthday together? Is it really that important of an event?” 

“Of course! Sister is so nice, of course I want to celebrate her birthday with her!” Wen Jiexi said with a serious expression. 

Puah! Wen Linshu has suffered 10,000 points of damage. 

“But what if the banquet is delayed….” Before he could finish, Wen Jiexi interrupted angrily, 

“I want to leave at exactly eight! I’ve promised Sister Su and she expressed her willingness to wait for me. I can’t break my promise to her.” 

Pa! Pa! Wen Linshu has suffered another 10,000 points of damage and a ten-point multiplier combo. 

“Oh, right, does brother know what Sister Su likes? I want to give her a special birthday present but when I asked her she said she’ll accept anything I give her. But….I hope you can still give me some suggestions.” Wen Jiexi’s face flushed as she spoke and she squirmed embarrassedly. 

Pu! Pu! Pu!  

Wen Linshu falls to the ground. He can’t get up anymore as he has lost too much blood today.

T/N:

I guess I never really explained this but every time a character uses the word “wifey” it’s actually the word (媳妇) which technically means son’s wife in ancient Chinese. Now in Chinese internet slang and certain parts of china, the word means ‘wife’ instead or ‘meaning of one’s own wife’ to be precise. The author is using the second definition. I like to use the term ‘wifey’ because technically the characters are not married yet so I thought it would be weird to just call them wife off the bat. And then sometimes I think ‘wife’ sounds better so…..I use the two phrases interchangeably. Just to clarify some things.
