Ch.78- This sudden confession? !

“Little Xi, stop eating. Let’s go greet Goddess Su. The Goddess must really want to see you too.” Li Lingmeng looked at Wen Jiexi, who was slumped in the corner with her head down. 

“How do you know Sister Su wants to see me? She’s surrounded by so many people, she must be too busy.  I’ll just use my mobile phone to wish happy birthday to her later.” Wen Jiexi said with a sad expression. From time to time she looked towards Su Chenyu’s direction with longing. 

Seeing this hypocrite spew off nonsense, Li Lingmeng felt a great headache. How did she never notice before that Wen Jiexi was such a bashful and insecure person? So many people wanted to become acquainted with Goddess Su, but her usually bright friend didn’t dare to even take a step forward now? Where was her tough skin? Aren’t all upper-class ladies thick-skinned? Oh, ah right….she forgot that a certain someone has just learned she was a part of the upper-class only a few minutes ago.

“Aiya, Little Xi, you standing there will solve absolutely nothing. Come on, let’s at least move towards the front.” Li Lingmeng tried to persuade her, then looked up and patted Wen Jiexi on the shoulder excitedly, “Hey, everyone from the Su family is here today! Looks like Goddess Su really is the treasure of their household! Everyone loves her!” 

Wen Jiexi looked up at the cheongsam woman and the calm-looking woman standing next to Su Chenyu. All three of them looked similar so they must really be from the Su family. 

“Huh? Is that all the people from the Su family?” Wen Jiexi was a little surprised. There were only a total of five people up there including Grandpa Su, the Su parents, and the woman next to Sister Su, plus Sister Su herself. 

“If I remember correctly, the Su family is not very flourishing when it comes to descendants. In one generation, it’s rare to have more than two or so children, that’s why they are quite small compared to the other families. For example, in my family I have two uncles and three aunts and my own generation has a few dozen cousins and nieces and nephews. But because my dad is the head of the family, we um…have claim to the inheritance. Speaking of, there aren’t many people in your family either.” Li Lingmeng said. 

Wen Jiexi thought about it. Uh…their family is actually smaller than the Su family. Her grandparents passed away when she was five or six years old and her father doesn’t have any siblings. Their family really is smaller. 

“Forget about the family stuff for now, look over there! A person has gone up! Goddamn, it’s Feng Xiaoliang!” Li Lingmeng’s eyes widened. 

“Who is Feng Xiaoliang?” ALthough Wen Jiexi stood far away from the stage and she could not see the man’s appearance, she could tell by the outline that the man was very good-looking and very elegant too. You could tell from a glance that he was a rich family’s kid. 

“Remember what I told you about the ranking of the major families? Our Li family is ranked fourth. The Feng family is much stronger than our family, coming in second. This Feng Xiaoliang is the eldest young master of the Feng family and my sister says he is the next heir of the Feng Family, one officially recognized by the family.” Li Lingmeng then explained that the apparent heir and the official heir that is announced publicly are too different things. 

“The eldest young master of the Feng family…” Wen Jiexi muttered to herself.

Seeing that Wen Jiexi had shrunk into a tiny ball, she looked around to make sure no one was looking before whispering, “Hey, Little Xi, don’t be fooled by this person’s well-dressed appearance. My sister said that this person is simply a human-faced beast! Based on my sister’s experience and her words, I believe she means to say that this person is not as perfect as he seems on the surface.”  

“Huh?” Wen Jiexi looked at Li Lingmeng in confusion.

Li Lingmeng looked at her awkwardly. In this public venue, it was considered inappropriate to gossip about the major families like this. Although she was also a member of a major family, the Li family was near the bottom of the rankings. If it was some lower-ranked families, then it was no problem but Feng Family is someone she could not afford to offend. 

But seeing Wen Jiexi was looking at her curiously, Li Lingmeng sighed and then leaned close before whispering in Wen Jiexi’s ears, 

“The methods of the Feng family are quite unpopular with the rest of the major families. I heard my sister say that the men of the Feng family are chauvinists and treat women as child birthing machines. Ah, look, that is the Master of the Feng family.” Li Lingmeng pointed to a middle-aged man not too far away. 

“Don’t be fooled at how this man is gently looking at his wife right now. It is said that he has no less than ten women on the outside and that the wife can do nothing about it. For the men of the Feng family, women are just child-bearing machines. Tools who give them children that try to kill each other. They give their children plenty of food and clothing, but if they want to compete for the position of the heir they will have to resort to unspeakable means.” 

“Ten or more women….” Wen Jiexi’s eyes widened. What is this? A modern version of the palace harem? Yes, there are many who wish to be the sparrow that turns into a phoenix (T/N: someone who wishes to become rich and famous, from rags to riches), and this is not limited to just women but….they actually want to embroil Sister Su into this! When she thought about the possibility that Sister Su might be forced into such a hypocritical family, she did not feel good. Sister Su belongs to her! Well….probably….

“So, Little Xi, shouldn’t you, as a good friend, hurry up there and save your Sister Su from a sea of suffering?” Li Lingmeng saw that her friend was now filled with righteous indignation and decided to push a little more. 

Wen Jiexi looked at Feng Xiaoliang, saying something to Sister Su. His expression was gentle and affectionate and although Sister Su didn’t seem to show any reaction, Wen Jiexi felt her heart ache and sore with pain. Sister Su is mine! Sister Su has confessed to me! I-I am Sister Su’s girlfriend….no, w-wife!! 

Thinking like this, Wen Jiexi and Li Lingmeng ‘charged’ towards the stage, but before they could make it halfway, the lights suddenly dimmed. 

The vibration beneath her feet caused Wne Jiexi to jump back, pulling Li Lingmeng with her. She lowered her head to see a platform slowly emerge. 

A big fragrant heart-shaped pile of roses with a three-tiered cake appeared before her eyes. The cake, we can ignore as it is Su Chenyu’s birthday but the roses were definitely for something diabolical! 

GAhhhhh! Sister Su is mine! How can someone else confess to her! She’s mine, mine, mine! Wen Xiao Sheep looked at the heart-shaped roses and gritted her teeth, wishing she could just rush up there and stomp on all of those stupid roses! Hmph, this was not domineering at all! She will immediately go ask her brother to help her order 99,999 roses to give to Su Chenyu later! This is a much more sincere way of showing domineering love! 

Wen Linshu: Little sister, have you ever thought about your poor brother’s feelings? Brother is so heartbroken! 

The Little Sheep whose ‘opportunity to show off’ was stolen by someone else decided to make a note in her heart for this heir of the Feng family, the so-called human-faced beast. Actually dare to fight with her for Sister Su’s love! I am not happy! I will give Sister Su more roses and even better ones too! And Sister Su says she likes me the most!!!!

Although she said all this domineeringly in her heart, she still looked nervously at the people on the stage. No matter how she looked at it, Feng Xiaoliang who was kneeling on the ground was better than her in status and family background. Not to mention….there was the problem of her gender as well. Such a big gap….will Sister Su agree….

Time seemed to stop, but in actuality only a few seconds passed. However, to Wen Jiexi, it felt like years. Her palms were slightly sweaty and her stomach felt nauseous. If Sister Su really did accept Feng Xiaoliang’s love, she might start crying. Because no matter how one looked at it….this was a marriage proposal…. 

If Sister Su accepted, that means she would not have a chance at all. Thinking like that, Wen Jiexi felt tears prickle at the edges of her eyes. Li LIngmeng seemed to have noticed her restlessness, anxiety, sadness and loss. She quickly held her friend’s arm and whispered, 

“Little Xi, calm down. How could Goddess Su be someone who agrees that easily? She knows what she wants, so if she doesn’t want to do something, no one can force her to agree.” 

“En….” Wen Jiexi nodded blankly, her eyes still focused in that direction. 

Finally, Su Chenyu moved and because of her slight movement, Feng Xiaoliang’s eyes flashed with joy and pride. The corners of his mouth raised when all of a sudden they froze. 

It turners out Su Chenyu raised her hand not to accept his hand but to grip his wrist tightly and then say lightly, 

“Turn on the lights.” 

Immediately the lights were turned back on and Feng Xiaoliang seemed to be a little bit confused about the current situation as he said in confusion, 

“Little Yu, this…” 

“I already have someone I like.” Su Chenyu brusquely interrupted Feng Xiaoliang and at the same time a trace of brutality flashed in Feng Xiaoliang’s eyes.

Don’t think I don’t know who’s handiwork was involved with the haunted castle debacle. 

Although the driver disappeared into thin air, Su Chenyu had sent people to  monitor Feng Xiaoliang’s people and quickly found out that he was behind the whole ordeal. Did they believe that she was so easy to bully? 

To secretly send someone to assassinate her, did they think this would bring down the Su family? She remembered that when she was a child, as long as she was near Feng Xiaoliang, an accident would always happen. Although the adults thought it was just some unlikely trouble, as a sensitive child, she could feel the hidden malice hidden behind his glinting eyes. The accidents continued to happen as he grew older and now it has even embroiled her little sheep into this mess. It made her feel….beyond furious. 

Then he continues to pursue her despite the tricks he plays behind his back. Even the heirs of the major families would always have an ‘accident’ happen to them. Su Chenyu wonders who gave the Feng family the gall to act so unscrupulous? 

“Little Yu….even if you can’t accept my intentions now, you shouldn’t lie to me like this.” Feng Xiaoliang’s expression was slightly stiff, but he still showed sorrow in his eyes, as if Su Chenyu had only made up an excuse to reject him.  

But no matter how he pretended to be pitiful, Su Chenyu’s gaze was destined not to linger on him any longer. This person was extremely disgusting and annoying, her little sheep was much better and the cutest in the world. 

She searched through the crowd and saw that Wen Jiexi was standing near the middle of the rose heart…huh? Why is her little sheep teary-eyed? Did somebody bully her little sheep? 

Su Chenyu frowned slightly, and walked towards Wen Jiexi, the crowd parting like the red sea as they allowed her to easily reach Wen Jiexi. 

“S-Sister Su….” Wen Jiexi said, lowering her head while holding her dress tightly in her hands. If she gripped any harder, her dress might get torn on the spot. 

“Come here, Little Xi.” Su Chenyu grabbed Wen Jiexi’s hand with a smile. 

“What are you doing?” Wen Jiexi felt dazed as countless gazes looked her way, some of them so sharp that they made her want to lower her head even more. 

“You don’t mind if I introduce you to my parents now, right?” Su Chenyu leaned closed to Wen Jiexi’s ear and whispered softly, even blowing a teasing breath into Wen Jiexi’s red ears. 

“Wu….” Wen Jiexi squeaked softly, covering her ears as she glared at Su Chenyu. However, Su Chenyu only smiled back which made her flush again as Su Chenyu pulled her onto the stage. 

“Father, mother, aunt, grandpa, I’ll like you to meet the person I like.” Su Chenyu said straightforwardly , ignoring the gazes of the crowd. It was just like her character, straight to the point without need for fancy words. 

The whole venue went silent. What an eventful day! First, they found out who the granddaughter of the Su family is, and then watched as the young master of the Feng family was rejected because…..the heir of  the Su family likes women! This is gonna be prime gossip among the major families for months! 

“Whaaa, so this is Little Xi! She’s even cuter than on TV.” Long Junzhu said with a smile, while restraining her right hand with her left. She had to restrain the impulse to pinch the cheeks of the cute little girl in front of her. Oh how did her cold daughter manage to kidnap such a cute girl back~ 

“Hello, I believe you are the daughter of the Wen family. Nice to meet you, I am Little Yu’s aunt.” Su Wenqian nodded to Wen Jiexi 

“Hello, auntie. Yes, I am Wen Jiexi…” Wen Jiexi hesitated and then glanced at Su Chenyu beside her before saying firmly, “and I am Sister Su’s girlfriend!” 

Seeing the girl’s loud proclamation, Long Junzhu and Su Wenqian’s eyes flashed with satisfaction. Su Chenyu had dragged this person out in front of everyone, so it was too late to back out. So if the girl had denied or evaded to reply, they would have to reconsider welcoming the girl into their family. After all, even if the Su family can accept same sex relationships, if the one who tries to enter the family does not even dare to admit the relationship then, sorry, but you are not qualified to be a Su Chenyu’s partner. 

However, Wen Jiexi’s bright performance instead caused the two women of the Su family to nod approvingly in their hearts and then they glanced at the two men of the Su family.

“Su Wencheng, I am Little Yu’s father.” Su Wencheng helplessly stood up first.

“Nice to meet you.” Wen Jiexi said politely to Su Wenchang. 

Everyone’s eyes then fell on Grandpa Su. 

Su Tonghao, patriarch of the Su family felt a little speechless. He looked at the adults in front of him, and then looked at his precious granddaughter and finally looked at his granddaughter’s lover who was now looking at him nervously. 

What were they all looking at him for? To play the bad cop? He was in the military only for a few decades, ok?! And that’s why his facial muscles are a little out of balance. He’s not really a vicious and evil-hearted person! He was actually very kind! 

“Ahem….I….” Su Tonghao was about to speak, but was interrupted by Feng Family’s Patriarch Feng Lun.

“How can this be? How can a woman be together with another woman? This is a stain on the upper-class society! A woman should be with a man.” 

“Yeah, Little Yu, this must be….must be just a phase. It is the natural way of the world for a man to be with a woman.” Feng Xiaoliang also said sincerely, then looked at Su Chenyu and Wen Jiexl like he was merely looking at two teenagers acting out in a rebellious phase. 

“Who said a woman must be with a man. Women are no worse than men, as long as they like each other, why can’t they be together.” Wen Jiexi mumbled softly, but despite the quiet voice, everyone heard it clearly. 

“Of course it’s not okay! The union of men and women has been the rule since ancient times.” Feng Lun looked at the two, a dark look flashing in his eyes but he still smiled kindly. Although his tone was slightly pressuring, it was as if he was facing a rebellious junior and telling them to be obedient and listen to the adults. 

“Who said that people of the same sex cannot be together? Patriarch Feng, you’re going too far.” A voice sounded, and it was Li Lingqing who was holding hands with Chu Heling. She sneered as she put her arms around Chu Heling. Their relationship was no secret among the major families. Why did Feng Lun not say anything about them? Why is it when it comes to Su Chenyu he suddenly protests? Obviously it’s because of his disgusting son.

“…The elders are talking,  juniors don’t have the right to cut in.” Seeing Li Lingqing’s frown, Feng Lun only coldly snorted. 

“Then is it alright for me to say a few words? Really, just what era is this? Why can’t a woman be with another woman? Sure enough, Patriarch Feng is still too rigid, still stuck in another time.” Another voice directly refuted Feng Lun’s words without mercy.

Feng Lun’s face darkened and looked in the direction of the voice only to see it was Xue Molin holding a wine glass while unabashedly sneering at him. 

The Xue family is no worse than the Feng family and as the most beloved daughter of the Xue family, she is naturally not afraid of the head of the Feng family. Moreover, in terms of generation, although she was younger, she was indeed the same generation as Feng Lun. Since Feng Lun had scolded Li Lingqing for being a junior, now that Xue Molin jumped out, his scolding immediately died in his throat. 

Everyone knows about the disastrous love history of Miss Xue Molin. They have all heard about how Xue Molin likes women, and her family could do nothing about it. However, it just so happened that her most recent lover happened to catch the eye of the Feng Family. Of course, Xue Molin would not easily hand over her lover and immediately fought against the Feng Family. As a result, her lover misunderstood her and decided to leave her. However, he never expected that the Young Miss of the Xue family actually fell in love with that woman. It was true love too. As a result, he ended up infuriating this evil star. And like a hungry wolf, she would bite wherever the Feng Family went and was extremely troublesome. 

Moreover, out of the five major families, the Su, Li, and Chu families have a very good relationship. The Xue was originally neutral but because of this incident, it caused the Feng family to lose their last good relationship with a major family and instead established a new enemy that was almost on par with them. Therefore, the only and easiest way to suppress their new enemy, the Xue Family, was to marry the daughter from the Su Family. 

And it was just one woman. Once she married into the Feng family, then she would be a part of the family. And she is the next heir to the family so that means that they could combine their forces and end up stronger than before. After all, won’t Su Chenyu’s things belong to the Feng family after marriage? 

But this child of the Su family would not play along and was like that disgusting Xue Molin, also someone who likes the same same sex, another woman. However, he believes that as long as Su Chenyu marries her son and gets a true taste of being with a man, she would realize that it was all just a phase and that a woman and man being together was the natural way of the world. 

However, just as he was about to speak, Su Tonghao interrupted. It seemed the old man was displeased that he was interrupted earlier and did not suppress his regal soldier’s aura from spilling out as he spoke. Not to mention, Su Tonghao used to be a member of the special forces, so that pressure was not something ordinary veterans would be able to emulate. 

“Patriarch Geng, this is a private matter of the Su family. Who my granddaughter likes….I don’t think Patriarch Feng’s consent is needed in this matter.” 

Feng Lun’s face was a little pale as he nodded. He has always been afraid of old man Su ever since he was child. He hated the arrogance and yet that majestic aura. He was both envious and jealous. He hates what others have, but hopes he can get it himself. 

“Little Yu, do you really like the Wen family’s girl?” Su Tonghao asked calmly.

“Yes, I like her very much.” Su Chenyu said without hesitation, and then raised the bracelet in Wen Jiexi’s hand and shook it in front of everyone.

“She is mine and this is the proof.” 

Many people in the venue understood the purpose of that bracelet. It was the symbol of the Su heir’s lover. Long Junzhu also had something similar to it on her wrist. 

Su Chenyu felt a little proud of herself. Yesterday she found out the real role this bracelet played. So it turned out it was given by the sons and daughter to the Su family to their lovers. She felt proud of herself for her great foresight for she had claimed her person a long time ago. She really wanted to give a thumbs up to her past self that gave the bracelet to the little sheep because she felt Wen Jiexi was special. 

“Little Yu…I-” Feng Xiaoliang didn’t seem like he was going to give up and was interrupted by Su Chenyu, 

“Mr. Feng, I said I have someone I like. And you heard her reply in person. We are lovers. I am sorry that I can not reply to your feelings, but I believe that Feng Xiaoliang is a gentleman who will not continue to harass us on this matter.” 

After hearing these words, Feng Xiaoliang could only let the words stay stuck in his throat. At the same time, his eyes flashed with various emotions-embarrassment, humiliation and disgust. 

“Little Yu, are you willing to bear the consequences of this decision?” Su Tonghao asked gravely. 

“Of course, when have I not taken responsibility for my actions?” ” Su Chenyu stood proudly, and hugged Wen Jiexi close as her eyes scanned the crowd. She saw that many people in the crowd below still looked somewhat skeptical and she felt a little unhappy in her heart. 

She glanced at Wen Jiexi, her heart racing quickly. Then while Wen Jiexi was still dazed, she gently raised the girl’s chin and pressed their lips together.
