Ch.90- Come on, time for mutually assured destruction?!

In Xingle Company’s President office, a thunderous voice rang out, 

“Gahhhh! Su Chenyu! How dare you! How dare you eat my dear little sister like this! Ahhhhhhh!”  

Long Huiguang’s face twisted in embarrassment at the howling in the office behind her and stretched out an arm to block the visitor that tried to exit the elevator. She reached out another hand to grab the documents in the visitor’s hands, 

“Please wait, the President is busy right now. Please come back later.” 

“Huh? But we always hold our meetings around this time in the past….” The manager looked at Long Huiguang in confusion. Ever since he started working here, he always handed in the reports to the President  at this time every week. This was a well established practice that pertained to major events in the company. The President has never missed a single one before, so what was wrong with him today? 

Unfortunately, the manager could not finish his words as he was pushed back into the elevator by Long Huiguang who wore a dark expression on her face. 

“Don’t worry about it, I’ll make sure to tell the President later. When he feels like taking care of this matter, I’ll come looking for you. Don’t worry, the President will not blame you. Also, if you could help me notify the others, that would be great, The President is currently indisposed and cannot meet other people. Please wait half an hour….no, one hour and then I’ll update you.” Long Huiguang tried to persuade the other person to leave while desperately trying to retain the President’s precarious image. 

“Oh….”  The manager, who had been pushed into the elevator, watched as the door closed and Long Huiguang waved at him as the elevator started to move. He couldn’t do anything and only stood there in a daze. What is going on today? Did Huiguang eat the wrong medicine today? Or is there really something important the President has to deal with? 

The elevator opened again and the manager scratched his head,

“I’d better inform the others. Huiguang looks very anxious today.” 

Ten minutes had passed and seeing that no one else had come up, Long Huiguang breathed a sigh of relief. It seemed that the manager did his job. She looked and thought about hanging up a sign that said 「Closed for Today」on the glass door. Then she just sighed and knocked on the office door. 

“Come in.” After a while, a response finally came from inside the office. 

Long Huiguang opened the door cautiously, fearing that the current angry president would throw something at her in anger and then do it again when he misses. Just thinking about it made her shudder in fear. Hmmm, other than the documents and files scattered on the floor, which will be cleaned up by her later, everything else was still perfectly intact. 

“Why do you look like you’ve seen a ghost? What is it? Am I that scary to you?” Wen Linshu said angrily.

“Ahem…Of course not…” Long Huiguang opened the door, tidied up her clothes, and said with a dry cough.

“Spit it out then. I want to get out of here as soon as possible.” Wen Linshu said and took a sip of water from his cup on the table. His furrowed brows revealed his unhappy mood and he picked up his jacket that laid on the side along with his keys and phone. He stood up and prepared to leave. 

“But President, usually at this time the financial statements are delivered to be looked over by you personally. Earlier since you were busy with…important matters, I had to turn down the manager that usually delivers the report and told them to come back later.” Long Huiguang said, wiping the sweat oozing from her forehead. She didn’t know exactly what Wen Linshu saw, that the workaholic would willingly leave the company like this, but the statements must be processed. She can’t let him delay other people’s work because of personal matters! The manager would have to work overtime and wait for the President to come back!

“Tell someone to put it on my desk. I’ll take care of it tomorrow.” Wen Linshu said with slightly pursed lips. After all, there is nothing more important than his own little sister. Su Chenyu, that bastard, don’t think I’m afraid of you because of your bigshot family! 

He can bear with having his little sister engaged to that monster. Since he could always find more suitable candidates before the marriage actually happens. Then he’ll let Little Xi choose and then…but, that woman actually laid a hand on Little Xi while no one was watching! That heinous, vile sinner! 

Long Huiguang: Wo cao! President, are you relapsing again? Is your illness starting back up again? A heinous sinner? Isn’t that too far-fetched? 

Just when Wen Linshu prepared to storm out of the company, hsi phone suddenly rang and his face immediately grew stiff when he saw the caller id. 

“Hey…Mom, what’s up?” 

“Aiya, Linshu~ Little Xi and Little Yu are finally, officially together! We’re so happy for her! We’re going to change the engagement banquet to a wedding ceremony instead.” Tan Yashi’s cheerful voice rang out from the other side. 

“Mom, isn’t this a little…too fast?” Wen Linshu’s face was slightly green, and he wanted to yell his frustrations into the sky above. How can Little Xi get married off this quickly! She used to be in poor health, so he couldn’t take her out to play and hang out with her properly. Now that she is better, he wanted to make up for the lost time. But she was immediately stolen away by a big bad wolf with bad intentions! His heart weeped at the thought of it all. 

“What’s so fast about it? As long as they both like each other, then it’s fine. Since they both like each other so much, might as well hurry up and finalize it. Ah, Little Yi, is such a good child. No matter what she does, she will not let down our Little Xi.” Tan Yashi said happily. 

“They’ve only dated for about a month….”  He remembered that the engagement banquet was scheduled for two months from now. Now it’s going to be a wedding ceremony….his sister is going to be entering someone else’s family in just two months! 

“Aiya, that’s their personal matter. As someone who has never been in a relationship before, who are you to judge? You think I don’t know that you are about to rush over there right now and break them up? Don’t you dare go near them, you hear me? Stay in your company and work like a good boy, or there will be hell to pay. If you try to get in Little Xi’s way, this old lady will find five blind dates for you everyday and share your ‘photos’ with each and every one of them.” Tan Yashi said threateningly, and at the same time Wen Shan’s voice sounded next to her. 

“Honey, the Su family is on the other line.” 

“Ahh, alright, I’ll be there in a second. Linshu, remember my words! Stay in the company for me or else! Hmph!” 

“Wait, w-wait, Mom!” Wen Linshu started but the other side hung up before he could say anything. 

Wen Linshu, the fiery dragon who can only spray his flames into the air: Gaaaaaahhhhhh!!! 

Photos, those photos Tan Yashi holds in her hands are all from before when he was forced to wear women’s clothing! They were from when he was only a child! And as a prime bachelor candidate, he has had countless beauties throw themselves at him everyday. Now his mother is actually threatening to arrange him for five blind dates every day! Thinking about the bleak future, Wen Linshu couldn’t help but wipe his bitter tears. His status in this family is just getting lower and lower! In the end, maybe even Big Black will be more pampered than him! 

“President, this….” Long Huiguang asked dryly. When she saw Wen Linshu’s dark complexion, she knew that he was in a bad mood but as an assistant, she still has to perform her oddities. 

“Call the manager up now.” Throwing his jacket onto the sofa, and placing his phone to the side, he looked down at the sorry state of his table and the files on the ground, “Forget it. Tidy this place is up first and then call them up.” 

Long Huiguang nodded and then silently lit up a candle for the manager. With Wen Linshu’s current mood, the manager is going to need to pray and hope he makes it out alive. 

Manager: Why am I always the one who gets hurt in the end! QAQ! 

Meanwhile, Wen Jiexi is currently sitting on the bed while holding the script in her hand excitedly. She had always wanted to act with Su Chenyu! Now, because of her role, Li Ying who is the guardian of the female lead, she had many scenes with the female lead. At least one-third of the drama had her in it! Wne Jiexi felt excited at the very thought. 

“Sister Su, hurry up!” Wen Jiexi patted the place beside her and said with a smile.

Ai, if only she is that excited when we…..Suddenly Su Chenyu had an urge to just throw all the scripts out of the window. However, she just sighed and then sat next to Wen Jiexi. Whatever the little fellow wants, she will satisfy them. 

“Shall we start with one of the earlier scenes?” Su Chenyu flipped open the script and asked.

“Alright!” Wen Jiexi’s eyes lit up and they were full of brightness. It seems she liked her work very much and Su Chenyu felt a little guilty at her thoughts just now. Hmmm, since the little sheep likes to act, she’ll just go along with it. She can’t deprive Wen Jiexi of her fun, then the loss would outweigh the gains. 

However,  Su Chenyu did not realize the full extent of Wen Jiexi’s enthusiasm. They practiced together the entire day, until around six in the evening. They had only realized the sun had set when Li Lingmeng knocked on their door. 

“Ah…it’s already this late….” Wen Jiexi took a sip of water and poured a glass for Su Chenyu. However, she didn’t expect for Su Chenyu to pick up the glass she was using and then drink the remaining half in one gulp. Wen Jiexi just watched with wide eyes. 

“The water here is delicious.”  Su Chenyu licked her lips and smiled at Wen Jie with a pointed smile.

“This….but I just drank from that cup!” Wen Jiexi whispered as she blushed and took the cup still in Su Chenyu’s hand. 

“So what? I don’t mind.” Su Chenyu said, pinching Wen Jiexi’s cheeks. 

Li Lingmeng who was standing to the side: But I mind! If I knew earlier, I wouldn’t have bothered coming up! Now I’m forced fed dog food! Fine, you two can just starve to death for all I care! 

And so, the three people waiting for them in the restaurant below, watched as Li Lingmeng walked in first with the other two holding hands behind her. Li Lingmeng’s expression was one full of annoyance but only Lin Yunxi, the only other single dog present, sympathized with Li Lingmeng. The other two beside her were similarly showing off their affection. They didn’t seem to care either, and it only caused the lovey dovey atmosphere to intensify. 

“Why did you guys want to eat together so suddenly? When Jiexi asked. She thought it was a little strange. She had thought that Sister Xue wanted to stay in her room all day with Sister Wang. So much so that she wouldn’t even want to come out to eat and order room service instead so she can continue living in their two-person fantasy. 

Unexpectedly, Wen Jiexi’s guess was spot on and Xue Molin looked at Wang Anyi sadly. 

“If it wasn’t for Little Yiyi, hiss…” Before she could finish, she inhaled quickly and her face twisted with pain. 

Uh…this…

“Ahem, Jiexi, you’ve passed the audition, right? Other than Little Su, you’re one of the youngest actors to be recognized for their talents by Director Peng. With his recognition, you’ll be able to gain a foothold in the entertainment circle. So, we wanted to come out and celebrate your success with you.” Wang Anyi gave Xue Molin a glare before she smiled again at Wen Jiexi. 

“Wow, really? Thank you!” Wen Jiexi said in surprise. So this is a celebration party! 

“You’re welcome, now quickly sit down!” Lin Yunxi patted the chair next to her and said. 

“Sister Su, sit down next to me!” Wne Jiexi said as she dragged Su Chenyu with her. Now there were six people at the table, with two couples and two single dogs. The two single dogs lowered their heads and refused to raise their heads. It felt like they were in the three kingdoms period with how divided the sides were. 

The people passing by: Is this a celebration party? Why is there a bloodthirsty aura in the air? 

Then they would take a closer look and see that the two couples were in their own pink, heart-filled bubbles, completely oblivious to the world around them! Even the people passing by shook their heads in pity at the single dogs. 

Lin Yunxi and Li Lingmeng were already used to this kind of atmosphere, but they were in a booth this time so they couldn’t escape. The sympathetic gazes they kept receiving made them go crazy in frustration! 

Meanwhile, Wen Jiexi was quite satisfied with this meal. All the dishes were her favorite, so how could she not be happy? Her stomach was full now and she patted on her stomach in satisfaction as she leaned into Su Chenyu’s arms. 

“Was it devlisou?” Su Chenyu asked softly and stretched out her hand to rub Wen Jiexi’s head. She had specially asked someone to investigate what Wen Jiexi liked to eat and had someone make an entire table full of her favorite dishes. Seeing the look on Wen Jiexi’s face, she felt satisfied at the outcome. 

“En, it can compare to Wang Ma’s cooking!” Wen Jiexi said with a serious face. She had grown up eating Wang Ma’s dishes and although Wang Ma’s food was not as good as a five-star chef, it was still very good. At least good enough for the Wen family to be satisfied with it. 

“Really?” Su Chenyu patted Wen Jiexi’s head helplessly. She understood the weight Wang Ma had in Wen Jiexi’s heart. It seems that when she marries the little sheep home, she’ll need to have someone learn Wang Ma’s special skills or else the little sheep might run home to eat instead. 

“By the way, Director Peng said that the role selection is almost done, so I believe they will start tomorrow. Are you ready?” Xue Molin originally thought it would take a few days to start the filming. She didn’t expect Director Peng to be so anxious to begin. However, it really wasn’t a big deal as they had originally planned to live here until the filming started. They had all the luggage bright over already and there was no difference in starting early or late. 

“I think I can start at any time! As long as Director Peng is happy.” Wen Jiexi said with a smile. All the actors in Director Peng’s film will be bigshots. She can take this opportunity to get to know everyone, maybe she can make some new friends. 

The ultimate bigshot, Su Chenyu, suddenly felt her jealousy spike up when she saw Wen Jiexi’s expression. And she wasn’t bragging. Even if the other people are older than her, she was definitely among the top three actors in this film! With her here, did Wen Jiexi need to know anyone else? 

She kneaded Wen Jiexi’s cheeks unhappily, pinching the other person’s cheeks while the other person just looked at her with an innocent expression. 

Li Linmeng: So Goddess Su turned out to be the super jealous type? Why is my perception of Goddess Su constantly being challenged every day? Is it because I keep waking up on the wrong side of the bed? 

Lin Yunxi: Amitabha*, Little Su….it seems you have too much time on your hands. (*T/N: A buddhist chant)

Xue Molin: Little Su, were you always this type of person? If other people were to see this, they might just break. 

Wang Anyi: I didn’t see anything. 

“Ahem…Little Su…..” Xue Molin said with a dry cough.

“En?:

“The filming will start tomorrow.” Xue Molin said with a smile. 

“So?” Su Chenyu raised her eyebrows, didn’t they already establish this fact? Why did Xue Molin have to specifically tell her?

“You’ll need to change costumes often for the film.” Xue Molin said, rubbing her hands nervously.

Su Chenyu looked at Xue Molin like she was looking at a fool. If you’re not changing costumes in a film, are you even filming? Even in a modern drama, you have to change your costume several times! 

Xue Molin did not falter under the other’s disdain and said in a smug voice, 

“And because you need to change clothes several times, you might also expose some necessary areas, such as your neck…so some behaviors should be restrained tonight~ Othersiw, how can we film~ Hehehe~” Xue Molin said and glanced at Wen Jiexi in particular. Even after a day has passed, there were still faint marks on the other’s marks. 

Wne Jiexi’s heart jumped as she covered her neck. If these marks are revealed while filming then….her image will be ruined! She needs to find some cream and cover them up! Ahhhhh! 

Looking at the little sheep who fled with a hand over her neck, Su Chenyu glared at Xue Molin’s sullenly. She received an evil smirk in return. Xue Molin winked and then grabbed Wang Anyi beside her before planting a kiss on the gold-star agent’s lips. She looked at Su Chenyu with a taunting gaze, as if to say ‘Hey, look at me, I don’t have to restrain myself! Are you envious? Are you?’ 

Su Chenyu looked at Xue Molin silently and then turned to Wang Anyi. 

“Sister Wang, I need you to help me grab some things for me and handle some matters. You can go directly to my villa. Oh, but the way, since it’s getting rather late, you can just spend the night or even the next few days in my villa.” After finishing, she took out her keys and gave it to Wang Anyi. 

“Oh….” Wang Anyi accepted the keys blankly. 

“By the way, Sister Xue, I think Little Xi needs your help for some things. So you better not disappear tomorrow when she needs you.” Su Chenyu ignored bared teeth Xue Molin was flashing towards her and chased after the little sheep who ran away. 

“Little Yiyi, don’t go! That little bastard is just trying to take revenge on me!” Xue Molin hugged her girlfriends aggrievedly. Her two-person fantasy! Her beautiful love life! It’s going to be ruined by Su Chenyu! Noooo! 

“Who told you to bully another person’s girlfriend? This is all your fault.” Wang Anyi rolled her eyes and said one last sentence before leaving, “You reap what you sow.” After saying so, she slapped Xue Molin’s hand and walked off. 

Xue Molin stretched out a hand despondent: No! Wifey! Don’t go!!! Little Yiyi!!!

Lin Yunxi + Li Lingmeng: Although we were just watching the show, the outcome leaves us satisfied. Enough for us to laugh for three days. Originally I didn’t have an appetite, but now I can eat a lot more! Haha, this is what you get for showing off! 

Feeling their mocking gazes, Xue Molin turned her head and narrowed her eyes. She smiled maliciously as she looked at the two assistants. 

“Starting tomorrow, everyone must work hard. Our Jiexi will be one of the youngest newcomers so we must prepare something for her seniors. Let me think….how about some donuts and juice? I’ll leave the specifics up to you guys. Oh, don’t forget Director Peng and the crew’s share. Remember to have it ready early in the morning and since the weather is hot tomorrow, the juice has to be chilled~” After saying so, Xue Molin followed after Wang Anyi and left. 

Li Lingmeng & Lin Yunxi: This is revenge, plain, naked revenge! 

Unfortunately, the two little assistants could only cry and do when they were told. In the end, they could not rebel against their boss’ orders. Even though they knew this was out of spite and revenge, they have to do it. Ah, their lives are so hard~!
