Ch.91-A sudden unknown number?!

Wen Jiexi and Su Chenyu arrived on set the next day when almost everyone was already gathered. When they first arrived, Wen Jiexi had gone into the bathroom to take a look in the mirror. The marks from before were invisible now and had all but disappeared. When she made sure there were no more traces left was she finally relieved. 

When she came back out, she spotted Su Chenyu talking to Director Peng with Duan Feiyan, the male lead, standing beside her. The three of them seemed to be discussing something so she couldn’t just walk up and interrupt them. Instead, she stood to the side silently. 

“Jiexi, why are you still standing around for? Don’t you have to go change into your costume?” Xue Molin yawned and sat lazily on the chair. With no girlfriend to hug and sleep with, her quality of sleep went down drastically. It was almost like insomnia. Oh, wifey, please come back soon! QAQ 

“Ah, I’ll go now.” Wen Jiexi scratched her head, asked a staff member for directions and then headed off towards her changing room. 

Xue Molin watched Wen Jiexi leave and then turned her attention back to the group of actors. She rubbed her chin and scanned the actors and the crew. En, all bigshots and sparkling actors and that female psycho isn’t here either. That’s good. If they had her among the cast, the entire film will be torn apart from the inside. 

Oh, that’s right, it seems that the Feng family have started to move in secret. Maybe she should get someone to check on them. It is very likely that the scum of the Feng family is planning something. She should investigate and then hand over the reports to Little Su. From that family’s past actions, they will undoubtedly continue to cause trouble and still try to marry Little Su. In their eyes, since Jiexi and Little Su are not married yet, they still had a change. Anything could happen now. 

Bang! 

Four boxes suddenly landed beside Xue Molin and she turned her head to see a panting Li Lingmeng and Lin Yunxi, 

“Huuuuu…the juice is here!” Li Lingmeng said, wiping her sweat. 

“Whoa, you guys sure work fast!” Xue Molin opened the first box to see several cartons of juice in a pile of ice curves. She looked at the bright sun outside. Yup, this kind of weather is most suitable for drinking chilled juice. 

“The shop selling donuts is not open yet. We are planning to wait for them to open before ordering.  After all, donuts are more tasty when they are freshly made.” Lin Yunxi explained. 

“Understood, I got it.” Xue Molin siad with a smile. 

“Ha…finally, I can rest….I should’ve called Little Xi, that strong little brat, to help out.” Li Lingmeng stretched her sore arms and smiled bitterly. Just carrying one box was hard enough for the two of them, but with this large-scale drama, there are many more actors and staff than usual. Even four boxes was barely enough. It was really hard for these two. 

“Jiexi needs to focus on filming, how can she have time to help you guys? Be good, and work hard!” Xue Molin rubbed Li LIngmeng’s head and laughed evilly. 

Li Lingmeng and Lin Yunxi rolled their eyes at the same time. This is all because of a certain someone taking revenge on them. If it weren’t for this petty woman, would they be in their current sorry states. 

Then Wen Jiexi walked out of her changing room. Li Ying’s costume was mainly black, but it was not fully black like the Right Protector. This one was a bit more decorative and fit her body perfectly. 

At the same time, Su Chenyu walked out from the other room. She was wearing a big red dress, her hair coiled up and light makeup on her face. Seeing Wen Jiexi, she made her way over. 

“Little Xi.” Su Chenyu smiled slightly. Because of the makeup, her charm had a hint of seductive wickedness that made Wen Jiexi’s heart beat violently. 

Ooooooh! Sister Su is so beautiful! 

However, for the other actors, Su Chenyu’s smile scared them into shock. It was common knowledge that Su Chenyu only showed emotions on stage. Normally, she wore a blank expression that no one could read! Yet she was smiling at this young newcomer! Incredible! 

Su Chenyu pointedly ignored the crowd’s questioning gazes. Regardless of how they are, they could not compare to her. Moreover, she was not someone they could provoke. If they wanted to make trouble, they would have to pay with their life. Now that she had revealed that she had some form of relationship with Little Xi, she believes that there should be no one here who will try to harm her little sheep. 

Of course, with Director Peng here, he will do his best to make sure nothing unsavory happens on his set. Unfortunately, not everything can be guarded against, so she must protect what is hers personally before she could feel reassured. 

“Sister Su is so beautiful! These clothes suit you perfectly!” Wen Jiexi praised without hesitation, but she did not step forward to touch Su Chenyu. Although she would get weird if she even stood close to Sister Su, it was not the crowd she was worried about as she simply did not want to damage Sister Su’s makeup. The filming will start shortly and she did not want to ruin Director Peng’s impression of Sister Su because of her mistakes. 

Meanwhile, Su Chenyu simply felt content and happy that Wen Jiexi was thinking about her wellbeing. However, she did not want Wen Jiexi to cause any alienation between the two of them. So she naturally grabbed Wen Jiexi’s hand in front of everyone and sat down on a chair to rest. 

“Sister Su, this is not appropriate…” Wen Jiexi rubbed her nose awkwardly when she heard the whispers beside her. She didn’t expect that Su Chenyu would actually hold her hand in front of everyone. Would this negatively impact Su Chenyu’s image?

“Don’t worry, you are my fiancée. This is normal, it would be strange if we aren’t together like this. Relax.” Su Chenyu patted the back of Wen Jiexi’s hand gently. 

Su Chenyu did not bother lowering her voice so there were many people beside them who had heard her words. All of them were dumbfounded by Su Chenyu’s words, like they were struck by lightning. One person was drinking water when he heard the news. He squeezed the bottle tightly, and caused the water to splash all over him while he choked. He coughed so much that his face was red. If it weren’t for the person beside him who hurriedly patted his back, he would’ve fainted from the lack of air. 

“What’s wrong with that person?” Wen Jiexi asked in surprise, wondering if she would call an ambulance for him.

“He’s fine, just choked a little on his water. Say, didn’t you want to continue practicing the script together? Which scene were we on?” Su Chenyu’s words quickly diverted Wen Jiexi’s attention. She also leaned close to Wen Jiexi when she spoke, her body posture intimate and romantic. She didn’t seem to care that her actions had shocked the crowd again as countless bottles were squeezed to death and loud coughs exploded in the area. 

Everyone: What’s with this sudden downpour of dog food! And why did such explosive news get revealed so easily! Aren’t actors’ love affairs supposed to be a secret? Something hidden away, right? Please follow the routine! For our sakes! 

Director Peng & Duan Feiyan clutched their chests: Although they already knew that the relationship between the two is not normal, there was still a big difference with their guesses and reality. And are all girls so domineering nowadays? 

Xue Molin + Lin Yunxi + Li Lingmeng looked calmly at the scene: Haha, this is nothing! You ignorant mortals! 

Under this shocked atmosphere, Director Peng loudly shouted the words, ‘time to start shooting.’ Today they would be mainly taking photos and short clips for the trailers, posters, etc.  Therefore the male and female leads must be present for all of them. So when Director Peng said those words, Su Chenyu reluctantly pulled away from Wen Jiexi. 

“Alright, are we ready? Then let’s start!” Director Peng sat on the small bench and despite his old man appearance, his body and voice was still full of energy as he yelled through a loudspeaker. There was no need to yell so loudly but it showed he had an impressive lung capacity. 

Wen Jiexi watched Su Chenyu, never taking her eyes off of her. No matter where she went or what she did, she was the focus of everyone’s eyes. Wen Jiexi originally wanted to  continue studying the script, but when Su Chenyu started acting, she couldn’t focus. It was like a special magic was cast, forcing people to be unable to look away from her brilliance. 

She shook her head and felt a little embarrassed. She glanced around her to make sure no one had seen her acting like a star-struck fool, but it seemed everyone was just as star stuck as she is. IT seemed that everyone was affected the same way by Sister Su’s excellent aura and performance. She rubbed her nose, I’m proud of her, my Sister Su is the best! 

“Can I sit here?” A cold and familiar voice asked. 

Wen Jiexi looked up and saw that it was Chu He, who had helped her against He Yueyue and is the elder brother of Sister Heling. 

Seeing that Chu He pointed to the empty seat on her left, Wen Jiexi nodded. 

“Go ahead.” 

“Thank you.” Che He nodded and sat down quietly 

Wen Jiexi turned her attention back onto Su Chenyu’s performance, but she felt the gaze on her again. She shifted her gaze back to meet Chu He’s questioning gaze. Even when he had been caught staring, the man looked calm and unperturbed. 

“Is something the matter?” 

“Nothing, I’m just curious about the person Chenyu likes. I’ve heard my sisters say that she will never marry, and perhaps stay single for her entire life. Yet, I never expected for her to have gotten herself a girlfriend.” Chu He said lightly. 

Uh….is her existence really so surprising? She felt a little awkward. Did she somehow break their perfect image of Sister Su? Now she felt a little guilty. 

“Don’t think too much about it, I was only joking just now. I know that everyone only wishes for Chenyu to find happiness, and find a partner to live out her life with, but,” Chu He, seeing that Wen Jiexi’s mood dropped, quickly added a sentence, “…..it seems that Chenyu really likes you. Looks like no one else can hold a candle to you!”

“Is that so? It seems like Sister Su has many admirers.” Wen Jiexi patted her cheek a little awkwardly.

“”Yes, many, many admirers. At least half of our generation ‘admires’ her. On the day of her birthday party, when she announced her relationship with you, you don’t know how many people were heartbroken.” Chu He shrugged. 

“Then you also…..” Wen Jiexi paused, and Chu He quickly interrupted her, 

“Sorry about that, I’m not one of them. I already have a girlfriend and we’re talking about getting married soon.” 

“Haha..so that’s how it is….” Having misunderstood him, Wen Jiexi felt so embarrassed that she wished she could dig up a hole to hide in. 

“Anyhow, this is not what I want to talk to you about today. You are the daughter of the Wen family, so you should also know about the Feng family.” Chu He glanced around and lowered his volume so that no one would overhear them as he continued, “The Feng family are not good people. On the contrary, you should be very careful about everything you say or do from now on. Even if you two are engaged, Feng Xiaoliang will try to do something about it. No, based on his personality, he will try to destroy your relationship even when you two are married.” 

“Really?” Wen Jiexi shook her head in disbelief. It seems Feng Xiaoliang is even worse than the rumors make him out to be. He even dares to mess with married couples….she really didn’t know what to do with this information. 

“I don’t know what trick he will use but the news yesterday about the Su family and Wen family joining in marriage and the date of the engagement banquet, now wedding ceremony, has been widely circulated among the upper class. The Su family has even stepped up to verify the truth of the matter. There are still two more months until your wedding. Something will definitely happen within these next two months, you must prepare yourself for the worst.” Chu He then stood up and prepared to leave.

“Wait…wait, why are you telling me this?” Wen Jiexi saw that the person was about to leave, and quickly straightened up and asked. Based on her interactions with him, she could tell he was a talkative person, and was rather cold towards others. So how come he suddenly came over and talked so much with her? 

Chu He watched Wen Jiexi quietly for a while, and then slowly spoke, 

“Because you are Heling’s friend and she wants me to look after you a little bit.” 

Because of Sister Heling? Wen Jiexi tilted her head. Is Sister Heling that worried about her? It seems like she has made a great friend this time. 

“Furthermore, our Chu family will not easily let go of what happened previously on that variety show. We will not take this insult lying down. Since they think we are so easy to bully, we will show them what happens when they try to hurt one of our own. We have counterplans in place, but you must stay vigilant. Be care of the people around you and pay attention to your safety. Don’t let everyone worry about you.” 

“O-Oh….” Wen Jiexi said blankly. She didn’t expect that just being with Sister Su would cause so many complicated matters. She didn’t quite understand the entanglements between the major families, but she knew that the previous dangerous accident at the amusement park had something to with the Feng family. She also knew it caused dissatisfaction among the top families, and that some of the flames from this matter might land on her…it was all so complicated….

“Che He, it’s time for your scene.” A cold voice sounded out and they both turned their heads to see Su Chenyu standing not too far away. 

“En.” Chu He did not seem to notice Su Chenyu’s cold warning gaze and just gave Wen Jiexi a helpless look before leaving the two of them behind. 

“Sister Su, is your shooting over?” Wen Jiexi was very surprised at Su Chenyu’s sudden appearance. Wasn’t she the female lead of this drama? How come the entire shooting was so short then? 

Su Chenyu looked at Wen Jiexi quietly. She knew she shouldn’t be feeling like this just because Wen Jiexi’s attention shifted to another person other than her.  She also knew that Chu He had someone in his heart and was very dedicated to that person. Yet the jealousy in her heart could not be suppressed. That’s why she had personally come over here after shooting a short scene. 

The little guy’s innocent and confused face also made Su Chenyu sigh. This person in front of her was just too unaware of the atmosphere around her. She didn’t even notice that because Chu He and her were whispering to each other, their bodies close to one another, that everyone’s eyes were watching her with a peculiar light in them. Su Chenyu sighed again, this little girl was just too naïve when it came to these things. 

“I just came over to get a drink of water and will continue shooting later.” Su Chenyu said helplessly.

“Oh, ok, here then!” Wen Jiexi picked up her bag when she heard Su Chenyu wanted to drink water, and was about to grab the water bottle belonging to Su Chenyu when unexpectedly another hand grabbed the other bottle instead. 

Under Wen Jiexi’s dumbfounded gaze, Su Chenyu naturally twisted the cap off the bottle, took a few mouthfuls and then licked her lips as she glanced at Wne Jiexi. She quickly leaned over and whispered in Wen Jiexi’s ear, 

“How sweet.” As she said that, her wet tongue, that was moist from what she just drank, lightly licked the shell of Wen Jiexi’s ear. She watched with satisfaction as Wen Jiexi trembled slightly, the little sheep’s ears and cheeks flushing a dark red color. She felt her mood improve instantly as the sight. 

“I need to leave now.” Putting the water bottle in Wen Jiexi’s arms, Su Chenyu left with a smile.

“Good luck….” The dumbfounded person said quietly as she watched Su Chenyu leave. 

Su Chenyu paused in her steps and then moved forward with renewed vigor in her steps. Everyone around them could see that she was in a better mood then before. 

Wen Jiexi, however, did not notice the change in mood as her head was lowered and looking at the water bottle in her hands. She rubbed her hot ears absentmindedly and then pressed a hand to her lips. She looked around her and then twisted the cap off the water bottle. She pressed her lips against the place where Su Chenyu’s lips had touched and then took a sip. It was….a bit sweet. She sighed in her heart at the taste. Then she jumped and looked like she was caught doing something bad before quickly stuffing the bottle back into the bag like nothing had happened. 

Unfortunately for her, because of Su Chenyu’s actions earlier, her every move was being watched by everyone. The actions she thought she was doing ‘secretly’ had long been seen by everyone else. 

Everyone: We’ve already eaten enough dog food! 

Li Lingmeng & Xue Mo Lin & Lin Yunxi: You two, what are you doing? Do you know what restraint is? No, do you even know how to write the word ‘restraint’?

Meanwhile, Director Peng was feeling very satisfied. Su Chenyu’s every expression and gesture was perfect and everyone else also performed equally as well. It was as if Su Chenyu herself caused this good atmosphere, and Wen Jiexi had a feeling that Director Peng wanted Sister in his film mainly because of this power to influence others. 

“Jiexi? Hello? Jiexi?” Someone patted Wen Jiexi’s shoulder and whispered in her ears. 

Why are there so many people looking for her today? Wen Jiexi turned around to look at Xue Molin with a puzzled face, 

“What the matter, Sister Xue?” 

“What’s the matter? It’s time to eat.” Xue Molin looked at Wen Jiexi’s dumfounded expression and rolled her eyes helplessly. This girl was clearly watching the entire performance but didn’t realize that everyone had already dispersed? Amazing. 

“Ah? It’s break time already?” Wen Jiexi glanced at the time and saw that it was already twelve.  She quickly stood up, but found that Su Chenyu was nowhere to be found. 

“If you’re looking for your Sister Su, she’s getting her makeup removed and will come back after lunch.” Xue Molin could easily see through Wen Jiexi’s thoughts and was driven mad on the inside. When will her own girlfriend come back? Why did Little Su send her away? Ah, she was going crazy from the waiting. 

“What are we eating for lunch?” Wen Jiexi asked curiously. In her previous film she was in, the lunch was decided by how many people there were. After all, the director would not expect a girl to be able to eat as many as two or three of them so naturally they only had enough for one bento box per person. When no one else asked for seconds or thirds, naturally Wen Jiexi was too embarrassed to say anything either and had to make up for the lack of food after the filming. 

“We’re eating bentos, of course. What else can we eat during filming? Don’t worry, I will help you get two portions and you don’t have to worry about going hungry. And it seems that because of Little Su’s appetite, Director Peng made a few more orders so that everyone will have enough to eat.” 

Once again Xue Molin perfectly read Wen Jiexi’s thoughts. She couldn’t help but think of a certain someone’s’ face when she went hungry while filming. The empty and light expression on her face afterwards was just so funny.  It almost looked like she would float away. 

“Eh? Let’s go eat then!” Wen Jiexi jumped for joy, leaving Xue Molin behind as she ran towards Li Lingmeng and Lin Yunxi not too far away. She saw a small shelf temporarily set up with several bento boxes on it, and there were only five chairs around a small table. It seems that Xue Molin had not lied as they were plenty of food for her. 

“You look like you’re starving, but didn’t you eat a lot this morning?” Xue Molin patted Wen Jiexi’s head ruefully and then accepted a bento as she sat down to eat. 

Although Wen Jiexi ran over quickly, she would not start her meal until Su Chenyu had arrived. 

“Sister Su, please arrive soon!” 

Just as she said that sentence, Su Chenyu came out of the dressing room. Wen Jiexi’s eyes lit up immediately and waved at her. 

“Why didn’t you eat first?” Su Chenyu asked Wen Jiexi and patted the girl’s head. 

“I wanted to wait for Sister Su so we could eat together.”  Wen Jiexi smiled embarrassedly, took the remaining bottles of juice from the ice box beside them and put them onto the table. 

“We should drink some of the juice that was left over.” As she said so, she grabbed a bottle and twisted the cap off. After standing in the hot sun for so long while watching the performance, she longed for a cold drink. Although there were electrical fans and canopies to keep them cool, her body was still covered in sweat. When she was watching the other actors, she didn’t notice how sticky her body felt but now she felt uncomfortable form it and wanted a cold drink to cool her down. 

Unfortunately, another hand stopped her before the bottle could touch her lips. And the person who committed this crime was none other than Su Chenyu. Wen Jiexi stiffened and then gave Su Chenyu a dry smile as she said pitifully, 

“B-but…I-I’m thirsty….” 

“If you’re thirsty, drink some water. Wait until the coldness subsides before you drink the juice or you might harm your body.” Su Chenyu was still gentle, but her tone clearly indicated that her order was not to be disobeyed. 

Wen Jiexi: *cries while her heart breaks* Goodbye, my ice-cold juice~

“Here, eat some more meat.” Su Chenyu squeezed Wen Jiexi’s cheeks amusedly and put half of her chicken into Wen Jiexi’s box. She knew that Wen Jiexi liked meat and so she’ll give her meat to Wen Jiexi. She’s not a picky eater, she’ll just make up for the lack of meat with more vegetables. 

“Wow! Thank you Sister Su!” Wen Jiexi saw the meat and her eyes brightened. It didn’t matter anymore if she could drink her juice or not, right now eating was more important. 

Seeing that her little sheep was now eating happily, A smile appeared in Su Chenyu’s eyes, even though she was a little disgruntled that this food wasn’t served plate by plate so she could place more food into the little sheep’s box. 

Director Peng: You dare to be dissatisfied with the food? Do you think we are a restaurant! We’re here to work, not eat! 

Ding-a-ling~! 

At this moment, Wen Jiexi’s phone began to ring. She took out her phone and looked at the screen to see that the id was ‘unknown.’ Who could this be? 

She shook her head, her number was only known by a handful of people. So it could be someone she knew that needed her for something. After hesitating for a little bit, Wen Jiexi finally picked up the phone. 

“Hello, who is this?” 

“Jiexi, do you remember me? Last time I didn’t have a chance to invite you out, so I was wondering if you are free tomorrow?” 

A gentle male’s voice came from the other end. The person did not introduce himself and went straight to his point. However, Wen Jiexi recognizes this voice easily. Didn’t this voice belong to her most dangerous love rival? 

“Mr. Feng…”

Wen Jiexi didn’t notice that after she said those three words, the chopsticks of the people beside her (expect for Lin Yunxi) fell from their hands as they stared at each other and then at her. Their expressions all darkened simultaneously.
