Ch.96-Going out during the holidays? !

Because Wen Jiexi’s face and hands were injured, the entire shooting was delayed a couple of days. Of course, only the scenes that included Wen Jiexi were delayed but her role did include a lot of scenes so it was inevitable that the entire shooting would be delayed. 

At first, Wen Jiexi insisted that she could still work as long as they apply some makeup over her wounds, but Su Chenyu refused the idea immediately. 

“The ingredients in the cosmetics sometimes cause the wounds to worsen and even leave scars if you’re not careful. If that happens, I won’t be able to look your family in the eye.” 

Wen Jiexi was unable to rebut those sensible words, thus she simply asked Director Peng for five days off. While Su Chenyu worked hard on the film, Wen Jiexi laid lazily in bed. As to why she didn’t go on set to watch Su Chenyu and the other actors at work, well, Wen Jiexi could only say three words, “That perverted beast!” 

And so, she could only bite on the corners of her blanket in an aggrieved manner as she thought about the marks on her body left by a certain someone yesterday. With the excuse of ‘since you’re going on vacation for five days’, it wouldn’t matter if some marks were left on her body. During this whole ordeal, she could only swallow her bitterness and roll around the bed in a tantrum. 

After rolling around for a while, her anger slowly disappeared and Wen Jiexi sat up as she glanced around the room. 

“Strange, where did Dango disappear off too? I haven’t seen that little ghost for days.” 

Wen Jiexi looked around in confusion and pulled up her mission panel. There were a lot of incomplete missions stacked up on the panel as she didn’t have any time to finish more than 3-5 a day these past few days but…..about 100,000 points had appeared out of nowhere. 

What had happened?????

“Aiya, Jiexi, you’re awake~” A loud voice sounded above her and she looked up to see Dango jumping on her head. 

“Where have you been these few days?” Wen Jiexi made her way lazily to the bathroom. 

“I strolled around the nearby town for a while and it’s actually pretty fun over there. I saw two men playing video games together and it was really intense!” Dango gestured with its arms and raised its eyebrows several times. 

“Really?” Wen Jiexi, who didn’t really know much about video games, just nodded along as she understood. 

“Huh? Jiexi, you’ve been on vacation these past few days, how did you suddenly gain so many points?” Dango looked at the missions panel and exclaimed. Dango was only out for two days, how come when so many points accumulated in such a short time? 

“I don’t know either…..” Wen Jiexi shrugged helplessly. 

“Hmmm…..” Dango looked stunned for a moment and then pulled up the missions panel. Then, as if seeing something that had shocked the little ghost, Dango looked at Wen Jiexi with a stunned expression. 

“What’s the matter?” Wen Jiexi raised her eyebrows.

Dango looked at the missions panel then back at Wen Jiexi. Finally, the little ghost sighed and patted Wen Jiexi on the shoulder, 

“Master, thank you for your hard work.” 

Wen Jiexi: ???? Did Dango finally break down after going out for a stroll? 

“I’ve done so many different missions with my contractors for so many years, but many of them don’t even encounter a single red mission in their lifetime. Yet you have encountered two in less than half a year. Congrats!” Dango waved its arms happily. 

So….she experienced another life and death crisis again?!! And she got 100,000 points from just one red mission?!! Now she felt thankful that she had chosen to learn martial arts, otherwise, from the looks of it, if she had been kidnapped then she would’ve….ended up in a life-threatening situation! 

What the hell is that psycho surnamed Feng thinking? What if….he wants to tear me limb from limb and then…..Wen Jiexi shuddered a little just from imagining all the awful things the man might’ve done to her. 

“Why didn’t you tell me earlier?” Wen Jiexi said dryly. 

“I wasn’t there, so how could I tell you?” 

One human and one non-living creature stared at each other, both wondering just who exactly was at fault here. 

“Forget it, the crisis is over and it’s not like anything actually happened.” What else can Wen Jiexi say, everything already happened so it doesn’t make sense to blame anyone. 

“Sorry, Jiexi. Next time I’ll give you a heads up before I leave. I promise it won’t happen again.” Dango patted its cheek in embarrassment. The little ghost had gotten bored from watching Wen Jiexi work all day so it had gone outside for a walk. How could Dango have known that its contractor would unexpectedly trigger a red mission while the little ghost was away? If something really had happened to Jiexi, Dango would’ve felt extremely guilty. 

“It’s alright, but…..I’m just heartbroken that my desserts got ruined because of this!” Wen Jiexi patted Dango’s head and then clenched her fists in righteous anger. 

“Huh? Desserts?” 

“Yeah I bought a bunch of tasty desserts and they all looked so delicious but unfortunately….they were all destroyed…and it’s all because of that psycho surnamed Feng.” Wen Jiexi shrugged and then said in dissatisfaction. 

“What?!!! Such a waste of food! That psycho and I can no longer live under the same sky!” Dango yelled indignantly. As a ghost foodie who couldn’t eat human food, it was an absolute taboo for humans to waste food! How hateful! How could humans do such a thing…..there are non-living creatures out there who can’t eat and can only watch! Think about us, why don’t you! That piece of scum! 

One human and one non-living creature both joined their hands together as they decided to form an alliance against their common enemy. Their hatred and anger were directed at a certain someone far, far away. 

Feng Xiaoliang sneezed: “Hey, which bastard dares to insult me?” 

“Oh, Jiexi, are you on vacation right now?” Dango asked with an evil smile. 

“En. Yup, I am.” Wen Jiexi put down her towel and said.

“Then do you want to go to that dessert shop and try buying your food again? I want to see the desserts too, and although I can’t eat any, at least I can feast with my eyes.” Licking its mouth, Dango looked at Wen Jiexi eagerly. 

“But Sister Su told me not to run around outside without her. If something like that almost kidnapping happens again, she says she’ll get very angry at me.” Wen Jiexi said hesitantly.

“Aiya, isn’t she filming? We sneak away, and bam! She wouldn’t know a thing. And I promise you that as long as a red mission like that appears, I will notify you as soon as possible.” Dango said solemnly, swearing an oath as it patted its chest.

“This….okay….” Wen Jiexi actually wasn’t as hesitant as she seemed. Yesterday, after she saw so many delicious looking treats, her inner glutton was awakened. So she had bought so many to satisfy her cravings but then they got destroyed! So she really wanted to…sneak out!

In this way, a consensus was reached. Wen Jiexi ate the breakfast on the table happily, patted her stomach, and walked out without a second glance but then was stopped by the front desk. 

“Missus-, I mean, Miss Wen, please wait! Miss Su has ordered…I mean, asked that you try not to go out if possible.” The clerk at the front desk quickly stood up and stopped her. 

“Ah? This…” Wen Jiexi stiffened as she averted her eyes from the pleading desk attendant. She never expected that Sister Su would have measures in place to stop her from going out. She even ordered the front desk to stop her? This….her fiancee knows her better than herself!

“Jiexi, don’t back out now! Just tell her you’re feeling bored and want to go out for a walk! She can only persuade you, but she can’t physically stop you.” Dango, the stubborn sergeant of the Wen Jiexi army, quickly advised General Jiexi. They have come so far, they cannot retreat here! 

“I just want to go out for a walk, not… I won’t go too far.” Wen Jiexi stammered nervously. 

Dango: No, Jiexi! Aghhh! You might as well have said ‘hey, nothing to see here, totally not hiding anything’! People can see through your guilty expression with just a glance! Toughen up a little! Your Sister Su is not some kind of great beast! She will not eat you! So don’t back down here! 

Wen Jiexi: But….haven’t you seen me get eaten many times by now? 

Dango: ….I’m speechless….

The desk attendant stared at Wen Jiexi for a while, and then nodded with sweaty palms, “Alright, I understand. Miss Wen, please do be careful.” 

“I know, thank you for your concern.” Upon hearing these words, Wen Jiexi nodded quickly, then hurriedly left the hotel and then patted her chest when she reached a corner. 

“Phew….alright, we’re all good now. That scared me to death.” 

“Jiexi, what kind of scaredy-cat are you? You’re so easily persuaded….how can you hope to counterattack in the future?” Dango murmured quietly. 

What is easily persuaded? Sister Su is just caring for me! I just don’t want to trample on Sister Su’s kindness! This just means she loves and wants to pamper me! Wen Jiexi’s guilty conscience soon turned into pride as she smiled smugly. 

The indifferent face of Dango who had been bombarded with a helping of dog food: “Oh, you’re so great. So great to have someone. I hope you never get to counterattack and curse you to be at the bottom forever.” 

Wen Jiexi, who didn’t know she was cursed by Dango, put on her prepared hat and sunglasses before heading towards the dessert shop. However, the moment she walked out of the front door, the desk attendant who had given her the reminder quickly dialed a number. 

“Hey, boss? Yeah, Miss Wen went out…er…she said she’s just going out for a walk and didn’t say anything about where she’s going. Ok…ok…I understand.” The attendant finished speaking and then hung up the phone with a sigh of relief. It was always so stressful to talk with the boss. 

“Work is hard, huh~” The colleague beside the desk attendant saw the complicated expression on her friend’s face and teased. To be able to report directly to the boss is a blessing. If things are done well, there will be many rewards and treats. However, it all depends on the target of the said task. If the target is hard to handle, there is not much one can do. 

“Ai…we can only work hard and do our best. As long as we report everything without trying to hide anything, it will be fine. It could be worse if we did.” The desk attendant said and held her cheeks helplessly. 

“How about you take a coffee break? The chef will make it for you personally. Or do you want some milk-tea?” tea?” The colleague drinking a cup of coffee pointed to the coffee pot with light white smoke rising from the side and the freezer beside it. Black tea, green tea, tea bags, milk, etc., there was everything available for them at the small bar. This hotel is well maintained and that staff is treated very well. Even if they’re just front desk attendants, they still get a lot of privileges. Although they also use it to provide beverages to their guests, they can at least get a drink or two. 

“Bring me a cup of coffee, I want sugar and milk in it too!” The attendant waved her hand and ordered like a diva. 

“Tsk, tsk, such a lazy little pig.” The colleague who had been accustomed to the other’s character rolled her eyes at her and resigned herself to getting up and getting a cup of coffee for her colleague. 

On the other side, Su Chenyu silently stared at the phone in her hand. Meanwhile, both Lin Yunxi and Wang Anyi beside her trembled involuntarily, as they felt a blast of cold wind from the overwhelming aura beside them. If she’s like this, then a certain little sheep is making trouble again. They can only light a candle for their fallen comrade. To go outside the day right after something big happened….they have to give that little sheep credit for being so brave. 

“Huu…..” Su Chenyu sighed and felt an ache in her temples. Her Little Xi is so disobedient sometimes. Although she doesn’t want to restrict her beloved’s actions and she did assign a few shadows to guard her, she still couldn’t help but worry. According to a certain someone’s report, Wen Jiexi had a guilty expression on her face. That means the little sheep is most definitely not just going on a walk. 

She rubbed the ache between her brows. She can only order some people to follow her beloved closely. If something happens, they will report back to her immediately. As for this disobedient little child….she’ll teach her a lesson when she gets back. 

“Chenyu, you’re up! Get over here!” Not too far away, Director Peng waved his hand. 

“Coming.” Su Chenyu set down her phone and walked onto the set. 

Lin Yunxi stared at Su Chenyu’s retreating back and then approached Wang Anyi as she asked in a low voice, 

“Sister Wang, should we warn Jiexi about what’s coming? I believe that when Jiexi returns, she’s going to….go through hell….” 

“You’ll be looking for trouble if you do that.” Wang Anyi rolled her eyes and said, “Listen, if you tell Jiexi, she might not come back. Then both you and I will get in trouble and the punishment might get even worse. It’s better for her to apologize early and then the punishment will be more light. If you warn her, ask yourself, are you hurting her or helping her? And not to mention, she just went out for some fun so if you tell her now, won’t her entire day be ruined? Might as well let her have her fun now.” 

“This…I guess you’re right….” Lin Yunxi scratched her head and smiled dryly.

Wen Jiexi shuddered somewhere in the distance, feeling a cold chill go down her back. She looked around her but didn’t see anything and so thought it was just her imagination. She saw the dessert shop not too far away and quickly forgot the matter as she hurried towards her destination. 

The shop had just opened for the day, so the employee was still setting up the shop while putting some desserts into the fridge. The air was filled with a sweet smell of freshly baked sweets and Wen Jiexi couldn’t help but lick her lips while Dango jumped around in excitement. 

“Ooooohhh! This one looks so good, no this one! I want to eat them all, I really want to eat them! All this food in front of me, this is simply torture for me!” Dango said as saliva dripped from its mouth. 

Hey, hey, control yourself! Wen Jiexi scolded. If that drop of saliva drops onto a cake, then it’ll really be disgusting! 

“Hmph, others can’t see my saliva anyway! I can’t even eat any of that, at least let me drool over them!” Dango pouted. 

But I can see your saliva! At least let my mind be at peace! Wen Jiexi thought angrily. 

“Alright, alright, I’ll just sit on the side over here.” Dango pursed its lips and backed away. Both the desserts and Wen Jiexi’s heart sighed a breath of relief at that. 

The employee was a little surprised that there are customers at this time. The peak period of their store is usually from 11 o’clock through the afternoon until they sell out. Usually, no one comes here when the store has just opened. She turned her head to see a very familiar figure. Yesterday this customer had impressed her with their impressive appetite, so even if they have changed their clothes, she could tell who it is, but…..is it just her or is their customer a little different today? More beautiful and…a little more familiar? Is she hallucinating? 

“Customer, do you need anything?” The employee asked and took out the paper and pen. 

“Help me pack up two portions of every dessert.” Wen Jiexi pushed the paper back and said straightforwardly.

“Uh…” If I remember correctly, this customer had just bought a lot of pastries and went home with them yesterday. Just how many people would it take to finish it all? Wasting food is a sin! 

The employee opened her mouth and said slowly, “ Customer, you must know that all our cakes have a limited shelf life, which means that they can be stored for three days at most before they go stale. I remember that you bought a lot of desserts yesterday. If….I’m afraid you might not be able to finish it all.” 

“En, I know.” Wen Jiexi nodded seriously. The reviews had said that since these cakes were made fresh every day, they had a limited preservation time. 

But….was she able to finish all those desserts yesterday? Wen Jiexi immediately felt an arrow go through her heart and her face darkened. Whenever she remembered the delicious food on the ground soaking up mud, she felt an indescribable headache. 

The employee watched as the customer’s eyes filled with sorrow and could feel the pitiful air around her. Could it be that when she returned home yesterday that all the food was eaten up by others before she could have a bite? Could this child be that pitiful? 

Her heart filled with sympathy for the child. She remembered the amount Wen Jiexi bought yesterday. And she didn’t get a single bite? Poor, poor, child. 

Dango: Humans have a frightening ability called ‘jumping to conclusions’. 

Wen Jiexi squirmed awkwardly under the employee’s sympathetic and pitying gaze. She had bought a lot yesterday, and so it is a little strange for her to come to buy more today. 

As a result of the employee jumping to conclusions, she gave the confused Wen Jiexi a 10% discount, and also included a redemption voucher. Yesterday she didn’t get any of this stuff, so what is this? 

Dango: This is called pity. So this is what happens when the brain tries to find an explanation. 

“Thank you.” Wen Jiexi looked at the small pile of boxes and smiled as she lowered her mask. Just as she was about to reach forward for the desserts, the employee stopped her. Wen Jiexi tried to grab the boxes but the employee would not let go. Wen Jiexi looked up. Did the employee want to take back the food after regretting giving her a discount? QAQ

“Little…Sheep?” The employee whispered uncertainly.

Hearing this question, Wen Jiexi stiffened and she hurriedly covered her face. She was recognized? What should she do??? QAQ

“You…how did you know?” Wen Jiexi stammered. 

Dango: Wait, wait, aren’t you supposed to deny till your last breath? What is with that guilty expression and those averting eyes! Jiexi….have you gotten more stupid?

The employee was also stunned by how ‘straightforwardly’ Wen Jiexi admitted her identity and force. She then grabbed Wen Jiexi’s hands and shook them up and down in excitement. 

“Oooooh, Little Sheep, I am a big fan of yours! I am also one of the protectors that is part of the Chenxi sect. How are you getting along with Goddess Su? If you have the chance, can you post a dozen or so pictures of the two of you together so us poor children can finally get some more crumbs to eat?” 

Wen Jiexi was stunned into silence by the incomprehensible words coming out of this woman’s mouth. She only understood that this woman is a fan of hers. 

“Can you take a picture with me?” The employee pleaded. 

“This….” Wen Jiexi began awkwardly. Technically, she’s not supposed to reveal her current location as Director Peng had not officially announced the film yet. So if news of her being here is revealed, wouldn’t she ruin all of the plans and arrangements that Director Peng’s team had planned? 

“Oh, if that’s how it is….can you give me an autograph instead?” The employee did not push her and understood that Wen Jiexi was probably in a position where she couldn’t reveal her location. Instead, she took out a printed photo of one of Wen Jiexi’s previously posted photos and looked at Wen Jiexi with shining eyes. 

“That’s fine….” Since she’s refused their photo request, the least she can do is give them an autograph. Besides, signing her name is nothing much. 

She quickly signed her name and under the employee’s reluctant gaze, carried the boxes out of the door. Behind her, the employee called out to her, 

“Little Sheep, please come here again! I will wait here for you~” 

Wen Jiexi: Huh, why does it sound like a wife waiting for her husband to return? Nah, must be an illusion. 

In addition to buying desserts, Wen Jiexi went to a nearby supermarket to buy a lot of snacks and drinks. Fortunately, there were a lot of people so she blended into the crowd and quickly bought her things without trouble. 

With a happy expression on her face and under the gaze of a surprised staff member, she bought a mountain of things and then carried them all by herself. 

Shopping is so fun! Wen Jiexi thought happily as she looked at the food in her hands.

Dango: Jiexi, I’m afraid you are misunderstanding why women love to shop, but I like this stuff as well so I’ll just go along with this misunderstanding! 

Of course, the news that Wen Jiexi had returned to the hotel soon reached a certain someone. She thought the little sheep would go out for the entire day, but that certain someone came back before she even finished filmmaking. And she came back with a mountain of grocery bags? Since she came back so soon….then she’ll administer a lighter punishment. 

Wen Jiexi stuffed all the desserts into the fridge and waited for Sister Su to come back to enjoy them together, and then put the rest of the food into the cabinets. With this much food, she won’t need to go out for some time! 

Grabbing a bag of potato chips, Wen Jiexi turned on the TV and started eating leisurely. However, she did not know that a terrible fate was waiting for her….
