The Jealous CEO Treats Me Hypocritically Ch.5

The housekeeper who had witnessed the collision of chopsticks stood to the side with a stiff expression. 

What’s going on? President Su isn’t destitute enough that she would be so murderous over a piece of meat. 

Then the scene that came after surprised her even more. 

Su Wen and Shu Yian both took back their chopsticks at the same time and neither of them touched that plate of meat again. 

This is normal behavior coming from Su Wen, but very abnormal if Shu Yian does the same. 

When Su Wen is sometimes busy with work, she will concentrate on finishing her work while eating and so it is inevitable that she will occasionally collide chopsticks with Shu Yian. Every time this happened, Su Wen would immediately remove her chopsticks and never touch that dish again for the rest of the meal. 

But Shu Yian acted differently. 

The first few times, Shu Yian would happily pick up that piece of meat or vegetable and then place it onto Su Wen’s plate. However, after Su Wen coldly ignored her gesture time and time again, Shu Yian would just silently eat that piece of food every time a situation like this occurred. 

To the former Shu Yian, if that piece of food caused both of their chopsticks to collide, then it is no longer a normal delicacy but a kind of ‘love’ from Su Wen. 

So, although the housekeeper knows that Shu Yian had ‘changed’ a lot these past few days, she was still shocked when she saw the naked disgust on Shu Yian’s face. 

If the housekeeper saw it, then Su Wen naturally saw it as well. 

That kind of subconscious reaction was not something an ordinary person can easily fake. 

No, that expression was just like how she felt, a true dislike that came from deep within the heart. 

【But…】

Su Wen couldn’t believe it. How could someone who had loved her so much just a few days ago suddenly dislike her?

Shu Yian naturally knew what Su Wen and the housekeeper were thinking. Shu Yian could pretend to be clingy on the surface, but that only required her to pay some lip service and not much else. 

She and Su Wen both hate each other. If it wasn’t for their own reasons that forces them to stay together, the two of them would’ve already parted ways. And now she has to pretend to be happy to eat something the other person doesn’t even want? Now that’s just asking too much from her, she really can’t do that. 

Fortunately, even though Su Wen had her doubts on the matter, she did not think much about it nor did she think about driving Shu Yian out of the house like before. 

Actually, if Shu Yian’s current behavior really wasn’t for show, then she will improve her attitude towards Shu Yian just a little bit. 

The two finished their lunch in silence, and then went back to their respective rooms.

Su Wen’s room is far, far away from Shu Yian. Her room is in the middle of the second floor’s hallway while Shu Yian’s room is at the very beginning of the hallway. Therefore, Su Wen would always take a few more steps than Shu Yian to get to her room. 

Then she watched as Shu Yian entered her room without even glancing her way once, before closing the door without a second thought. Although Su Wen’s eyes looked calm on the surface, her mind was in uproar. 

Shu Yian has become completely different! 

Even though the previous Shu Yian was afraid of her and didn’t dare to approach her, the woman would still pester her every day in fear of another woman coming along and snatching her beloved Su Wen away. Now, it’s as if….she doesn’t care at all! 

At first, Su Wen thought that Shu Yian was purposely playing ‘hard to get’, but now, even she could tell that Shu Yian’s alienation was a little too much. Shu Yian seems to be deliberately pretending to like her, purposely trying to rile her up while….covering up her own dislike for Su Wen.  

Su Wen does not need to read minds to know what’s going on. As a genius businesswoman, she is usually good at reading people. 

She can no longer look at Shu Yian through tinted glasses. 

Although she doesn’t know why this Shu Yian’s personality suddenly changed and why she even stopped loving her, she believed that the current Shu Yian was for the best. She never wanted to marry Shu Yian in the first place. Therefore, if this current alienation continues, it was for the best. Then she’ll just need to wait until her grandmother’s condition stabilizes before breaking off the engagement. 

Thinking like this, she suddenly stepped towards Shu Yian’s room and knocked on the door. 

This will be her one and only show of sincerity. No matter how Shu Yian reacted, she would at least get an answer out of her. 

“Let’s make another deal?” 

“???” 

When Shu Yian opened the door, this was the first sentence she heard. 

But Shu Yian could not complain, Su Wen is a business woman after all. All that comes out of her mouth are transactions and negotiations. Therefore she only looked at Su Wen with a confused face. 

Seeing her expression, Su Wen started, “I understand that you might not like me anymore….” 

Now that she finally said it out loud, Su Wen felt that her words must be true. Shu Yian originally said she fell in love with her at first sight. Then she threw a tantrum and begged her parents to let her marry Su Wen. However, her love for Su Wen was a fickle type of love that was mainly based on looks. So it is normal for the person’s heart to change if they meet a better looking person. 

Shu Yian stayed silent and waited for her to continue. 

Her silence was agreement in Su Wen’s eyes. She continued, “You have two options now. One is to come with me to visit Grandma and break off the engagement in front of her. The second option is we continue this farce but never involve our feelings into it. Except for when we visit Grandma, we will spend the rest of our time together like a pair of strangers. When Grandma’s condition stabilizes, we will come up with a reason to break off the engagement. Of course, you can ask for anything in return if you go with option two. As long as you don’t ask me to love you, you can make any request you want.”

If Shu Yian agrees to this deal, it means that she really doesn’t love her anymore. Then the two of them can co-exist peacefully. However, if Shu Yian refuses, then that means Shu Yian’s current abnormal behavior was just another scheme to attract her attention. 

Su Wen thought, if it’s the latter, then she should really work on her people-reading skills. 

She could’ve just given Shu Yian one choice, which was the first option. But it was undeniable that besides making her grandmother happy, Shu Yian was useful in keeping those annoying flies away from her. With Shu Yian around, the amount of annoying women around her has reduced a lot so she did hold at least a bit of gratitude in this regard towards Shu Yian. 

If Shu Yian chooses the first option, then they will go their separate ways. 

If Shu Yian chooses the second option, they will both take what each of them needs and benefit from it. She doesn’t need Shu Yian to do much. As long as Shu Yian carries around the title of ‘fiancee’ and acts accordingly, it will be a beneficial deal for Su Wen. 

Of course, Shu Yian did not hesitate as she chose the second option. After all, for the sake of her mission, she needs the identity of Su Wen’s ‘fiancee’. 

At this moment, she finally understood why out of all the cannon fodder roles, she just had to be the fiancee. It turns out that the identity of the fiancée was perfect for driving away all the mistresses and other rivals. 

Shu Yian stretched out her right hand and smiled sincerely at Su Wen for the first time: “I look forward to cooperating with you.” 

The corners of Su Wen’s lips lifted as she stretched out her own hand, “Likewise.” 

【The previous Shu Yian was very annoying, but that’s a separate matter. At least the current Shu Yian is not as annoying. 】

Shu Yian’s thoughts were the same. The Su Wen in front of her is much more normal, and less annoying as well. 

“I only have one request.” Shu Yian said when Su Wen turned to leave. 

“You can’t drive me away. You will let me live here until we break off our engagement.” 

“That’s it?” Su Wen remembers that Shu Yian was driven out of her family’s home and therefore has nowhere else to go. To be honest, she thought Shu Yian living here was a given and not something she would request. 

“If you feel that it’s not enough, then you can increase my salary as well.” 

Su Wen rolled her eyes and didn’t bother answering her. 

【Sure enough, she still the same money grubber from before.】

She suddenly regretted her decision. She had been deceived by Shu Yian’s abnormal behavior and she’s forgotten that Shu Yian is a snobbish woman who loves expensive things and has a bad character. Is it alright for her to have made a deal with such an unreliable person? 

However, for the sake of integrity, even if Su Wen wanted to take it back, she could only bite the bullet and march forward. 

Shu Yian looked at Su Wen’s retreating back and wished that she could glare lasers into that woman’s back, “Stingy woman!” 

She had only said it as a joke, yet this ridiculously wealthy person was reluctant to increase her salary by even a little bit. 

She takes back what she said before. Su Wen is still the same annoying woman as before and someone she will never like. 

And so, even if the two of them have entered a cooperative relationship, the contradictions between them cannot be resolved overnight.

After spending a weekend without any incidents, Monday soon arrived. Today will be Shu Yian’s first day at work. 

Su Wen woke up early and had breakfast before getting into the car outside. 

“Start the car.” Su Wen got into the car without hesitation. It seems that she doesn’t care at all about how Shu Yian was going to get to work. 

The vehicle moved slowly, and within a minute, Su Wen spoke again: “Go back, I’ve seemed to have forgotten something.” 

Although she said she forgot something, she didn’t make a move to get out of the car. 

After thinking about it, she decided that since she and Shu Yian have reached an agreement, it doesn’t matter if they take the same car. 

Shu Yian had put up her long hair and so she looked rather neat and refreshed today. When she came downstairs, she saw the car outside and so hurriedly drank a sip of milk, grabbed a sandwich that she placed in her mouth and then hurriedly made her way out the door. She feared that heartless Su Wen really would leave her behind without hesitation. 

When Su Wen saw Shu Yian running towards her, she suddenly said, “Start driving…slowly.” 

Driver: “……”

【You were clearly waiting for her, but when she came out, you actually forced her to chase after the car…..】Hmmm? How come he suddenly sympathizes with Shu Yian? 

Shu Yian wore a pair of high heels so when she finally caught up to the car, she was panting with a red face. She wanted to sit in the passenger seat at first, but she wanted to complain to Su Wen and give her a piece of her mind. So she sat in the back instead. 

“President Su, I thought our relationship has gotten better. Yet when you saw me chasing after your car you did not stop. That seems a little dishonorable, don’t you agree?”

Su Wen tapped her jade-like fingers against her armrest, “I never planned to wait for you. It’s you who chased after my car, so why are you blaming me?” 

Shu Yian was speechless and could only vent her anger out on her breakfast. However, Su Wen interrupted her and said with a frown, “If you drop even a single crumb in my car, I will punish you.” 

When Su Wen spoke, her voice was forceful and strong so although she never spoke too loudly, it still made people listen. 

Shu Yian looked at her speechlessly. Then she called out to the driver, “Stop the car!” 

The driver stepped on the brakes with fear and trepidation. 

Su Wen was slightly bewildered. 

【What is it now? Does this woman has such a big backbone that she’ll get out of the car?】

Shu Yian glared at her, lowered her window, and stretched her head out to eat the sandwich in one bite. This type of maneuver usually is pretty dangerous, but with no other cars around, it was feasible. 

After she finished, she raised the glass on her window and then leaned back against her seat. She looked over at Su Wen with a smile: “Since this is a cooperative relationship, I hope President Su can at least give me some basic respect, otherwise…..” 

She flicked open her social media casually and then said lightly, “I can’t guarantee that my hand won’t slip and then accidentally post your phone number along with a message that you’re looking for a wife out onto the internet. President Su, since you’re such a good person, there must be many young ladies who will reply back, right?” 

Su Wen: “…..” Looking at Shu Yian’s infuriating face, she suppressed her anger. 

【Fine, you win!】

What Su Wen fears the most is to be chased and pursued by others. If Shu Yian really did follow through with her threat, she wouldn’t be able to bear the consequences. She can’t afford to lose her meat shield. 

The driver secretly listened to the two of them fight and inside his heart he acted as a referee as he tallied up the score. 

【Round one. Miss Shu is forced to chase after the car. Winner: President Su】

【Now begins the third round, just who will come out on top in this round? Ahh, if only they were an acting troupe. Then I could sell peanuts and sparkling water to the audience. Maybe I could make some extra money too…..】
