The Jealous CEO Treats Me Hypocritically Ch.9

“Defeated opponent?” Shu Yian furrowed her brows.

She did not know what happened between the original owner of this body and the seductive woman standing in front of her. The woman’s voice was full of ridicule and was obviously mocking her, but Shu Yian really had no idea what the original host even lost at.

Was it piano?

That was the only thing Shu Yian could think of since Su Wen did mention that the original host was very good at piano.

If that’s the case, then she really can’t compare to this arrogant woman in front of her at this moment.

After all, in reality, not everyone can start slapping faces the moment they transmigrate.

At least for Shu Yian, piano was not a strong point of hers at all. She had never learned it before and knows nothing about it. Therefore, it was impossible for her to help the original host win this round.

Now the question is, what should she say in this situation to extinguish the opponent’s fighting spirit but at the same time not say anything too foolish?

Shu Yian began to think…….

The main concern is that she doesn’t have an inkling of what the strengths and weaknesses of the original host was. What could she do to win this battle? She can’t just suddenly showcase her own strengths either.

Meanwhile, Zhang Jiao looked at Shu Yian with a bit of surprise in her eyes. She had heard all about Shu Yian’s shameful behavior in these past six months. She had expected that Shu Yian would jump up anxiously at her words and then start arguing with her like a clown at a circus.

However, this did not seem like the case.

The Shu Yian standing in front of her was not only calm, but acted more like a passerby who was watching the show and then was suddenly asked to hand in a review.

Zhang Jiao couldn’t even see a trace of dismay in the other person’s gaze.

Even if all the things she heard before were just rumors, shouldn’t the person in front of her at least show some sort of reaction?

Shu Yian is considered a genius pianist. There was no doubt in her mind about this. After all, Shu Yian had won many awards, both large and small before. If she had insisted on continuing this path, she would have most definitely become the top pianist of their generation.

Yet, this genius rejected the brilliant future prospects laid in front of her and wanted to open up a store and try her hands at jewelry design instead.

Shu Yian is indeed a talented person and achieved some results in jewelry design. However, every time there was a competition where the designer was tested on the spot, she would always fail to do so for some reason. Either she couldn’t seem to design at all or the things she designed were at a much lower level than usual.

Usually, Zhang Jiao would be overwhelmed by this dominating genius but at these critical moments, she was always able to beat her.

So what if you could design extraordinary things during normal times?

It was like taking the college entrance exams. Even if you are the first in the grade, if you freeze during a critical moment and perform poorly, the opportunity is missed. The previous so-called “glory” would disappear with a simple “what a pity.”

It was precisely because of that one mistake that Shu Yian had never made it to the top of the jewelry design circle. She will always qualify for the competition with her ability, but always be eliminated before the finals.

A dust-covered pearl, without its light, would not be discovered by anyone. Even if it had glowed, if the radiance is not revealed at the right time, no one would see it.

Only people who are constantly shining will receive attention. So even if Shu Yian was able to participate in the competitions, she was someone who was never mentioned.

She lost in the preliminaries before she could even step onto the flashing lights of the finals stage.

The outsiders who watched all the excitement didn’t know her and the insiders who watched from the doorway felt sorry for her.

No one would want to waste their time and opportunity again and again on this “sometimes good, sometimes bad” person. Soon, she even lost her qualifications to participate in the competitions and gradually withdrew from the jewelry design circle entirely.

And that’s why Zhang Jiao mocked her.

Zhang Jiao had always been a rather competitive person. It’s just that she has always lost to Shu Yian again and again. Only the heavens know how much resentment she held for Shu Yian in her heart. Even when she one-ups Shu Yian, she would still feel resentment in her heart.

People who have low self-esteem and no confidence in their hearts will always try to do something to erase their precious failures after gaining power. They would always try to show off their achievements and always try to act aloof and high above everyone else.

Shu Yian was able to pick up pieces of what happened from Zhang Jiao’s fragmented thoughts and memories. At this moment, her originally anxious heart relaxed.

So it was just jewelry design….

Then it doesn’t matter.

She curled her lips and pretended like she didn’t understand, “Defeated opponent? Do you mean the piano?”

Shu Yian was not stupid enough to compare what hte orignal host was bad at with this woman. Instead, she took out what the original host was good at to show off. Although she had no idea how to play herself, from what had heard from this lady’s thoughts, the other person doesn’t know how to play piano either. No matter what she says, this body of hers still has a reputation. She didn’t believe that this woman would dare to compete with her on the spot.

Anyhow, she’ll better defeat this woman by making her explode in anger first or else she will always have to face this woman’s frigid irony and scorching satire. Why would she let herself be treated like that?

Shu Yian was someone who never took any ill treatment lying down.

Sure enough, Zhang Jiao’s expression changed instantly when she heard Shu Yian’s words.

“Shu Yian, don’t play dumb with me! What’s so good about playing the piano? Haven’t you failed miserably at the career you actually love?”

“Huh?” Shu Yian’s eyes were as bright as jewels and there was an innocent expression on her face. Then her next few words struck Zhang Jiao’s sore spots.

“Have I ever said that I didn’t like playing the piano? If I didn’t like it, how could I play so well? Jewelry design is just a hobby I picked up in my free time to relieve my boredom with. I never took it seriously, so why are you taking it so seriously?”

Zhang Jiao noticed that Shu Yian had said those words without a trace of regret or pain on her face. It was as if jewelry design really was just a trivial thing to Shu Yian. Although she didn’t care to embarrass Shu Yian any further, she felt these words were like a slap to her face.

Her face went blue than white, before settling into an ugly expression as she tried to salvage her reputation, “Shu Yian, are you just making an excuse for yourself? Weren’t you always really sad every time you lost? Didn’t you personally tell me that you liked designing jewels and hated playing the piano? You don’t need to make excuses just because you’ve failed. When it comes to your true feelings, I know everything.”

“Oh?” Shu Yian lowered her eyebrows and smiled, “So you believe every word I say?”

“Then if I was to say that everything I said before was just to comfort you because your career wasn’t going so well, would you believe it?”

A sneer appeared on the corner of her lips and her eyes were full of disdain as she patted Zhang Jiao’s shoulder. Her voice was quiet, but it was like a hammer as she ruthlessly smashed into people’s hearts, causing them to vomit up blood, “You know, a real winner never brags so openly. We act low-key and humble because we are considerate of the emotions of the loser.”

“You just concentrate on your designing and I’ll concentrate on playing my piano. Isn’t it good if everyone minded their own business? Although I may slip up during the most critical moments, if someday my bad luck suddenly goes away then…..well, you should understand my ability the best. If I’m able to compete normally even once, I might accidentally steal your spotlight. When that happens, you can’t blame me for not warning you.”

“And even if I have failed in jewelry design, I still have a lot more options than you to fall back on. Although currently you have a certain reputation in the jewelry design circle, if someone surpasses you, it’ll be a lot harder for you to find something to fall back on when you lose everything, right?”

“So,” Shu Yian smiled, but her gaze was sharper than a knife, “Who gave you the gall to try and provoke me?”

She lightly tapped her finger on Zhang Jiao’s shoulder, giving her a subtle warning to not provoke her again. Without waiting for Zhang Jiao’s answer, she seemed to grow impatient and walked away.

Zhang Jiao’s forehead felt damp as she looked at Shu Yian’s straight back. She reached up with her hand, only to realize that she was so frightened just now that she broke out into cold sweat.

She truly was never such a brave person before. Even when Shu Yian was known as a gentle and peaceful person, she never had the guts to face her.

But recently she heard someone say that Shu Yian’s temperament has changed, that she had gone crazy. That’s why she decided to use this opportunity to tear down Shu Yian’s face on the first day she returned to the company and also use this opportunity to please that person.

But now it seems that she has made a mistake.

Shu Yian’s temperament has indeed changed drastically, but she has become someone not to be trifled with and was not crazy at all.

Meanwhile, Shu Yian let out a sigh of breath as she hummed a small tune under her breath. She walked back to the office in a good mood. After this incident, she believed that woman will not bother her again in the future.

Although didn’t plan to stay in this world for long, she did not want people troubling her everywhere she goes. She just wanted to happily spend this period earning her promised ‘ten times the usual amount’ salary.

However, when she turned the corner, her smile instantly changed into a look of disgust.

“Why are you here?” Shu Yian looked at Su Wen, who was leaning against the wall, with a trace of suspicion in her heart.

From the looks of it, Su Wen has been here for a while now and who knows if the President had heard anything but….she shouldn’t have. After all, if Su Wen had heard everything she should have heard her complaining thoughts again…..

Shu Yian understood that if she was too far from the person then she could not hear their thoughts. She calculated the distance between where she was chatting with Zhang Jiao and too here. Although it was not too far, in the end, she was unable to discover the existence of Su Wen.

Just how many meters did this mind-reading extend to? Where was the cut off? She will need to find a chance to test this out another day.

Meanwhile, Zhou Yu was blinking crazily at Shu Yian for fear that Shu Yian would not be able to appreciate Su Wen’s good intentions.

【President Su actually cares about Miss Shu! Why else would she want to find her fiancee after they were only separated for a little while?】

【En, I understand now. President Su is probably the type that doesn’t know how to express her love with her words… 】

She couldn’t say anything to Shu Yian in front of Su Wen and could only try to send some signals towards Shu Yian.

Shu Yian glanced at the hand gestures Zhou Yu was making and then completely ignored it.

If Su Wen truly started having feelings for her, then she was probably being possessed by a ghost. Otherwise, there was no possibility of it happening.

【Why am I here?】Su Wen repeated Shu Yian’s question within her own mind.

【Who knows why I’m here.】

【It’s probably because I thought that Shu Yian was going to use this opportunity to flee and had to make sure she didn’t escape.】

En, that had to be it. Otherwise, she really couldn’t explain why she had run out to find Shu Yian.

Su Wen didn’t answer her question and calmly changed the subject, “You were rather impressive just now?”

As soon as she heard these words, Shu Yian knew that this woman had heard every word she said to Zhang Jiao.

“So what? Do you even have opinions on my personal affairs?”

Su Wen crossed her arms, leaning against the wall in a very casual manner with a smile in her eyes: “No opinion. It’s just that there will be a banquet in a few days that needs your presence. When the time comes to entertain the guests by playing the piano….”

She uncrossed her arms and pushed herself off the wall, instantly closing the distance between Shu Yian and herself. Her lips were close to Shu Yian’s ear as she said, “I will leave it to you, miss genius pianist.”

【I’ve seen you play before. I know that your entire reputation was overly exaggerated and blown out of proportion. Just now, you did a good job at playing the fox who exploits the tiger’s might*, but I hope you can still maintain that bluff in front of everyone at the banquet.】(*T/N: the fox exploits the tiger’s might (idiom); to use powerful connections to intimidate people. In this case Shu Yian borrowed her perceived ‘reputation’)

Shu Yian: “???”

Author’s notes:

Shu Yian: It’s true that I can’t play the piano, but if I am forced to, then I will drag you down with me.

  1. I Am Starting To Feel Bad For The Original Body Whose Existence Has Been Used By Multiple People (Personalities). I Hope Our Main Character Will Be Able To Borrow The Original Body’s Piano Skills.

    Liked by 2 people

    1. Yeah, a personality shift due to an accident, and no one even bothered to actually get her some help? (Aside from that one ex-assistant of hers who used to be her friend). I hope we get to see people from her side too. Not just Su Wen’s.

But still, the novel is giving me a good time reading. The comedy is 10/10 lmao
