Chapter 14- Sis-con Big Brother vs. Film Princess Su?!

Today, if you walked into the Xingle company’s headquarters, you would feel a tense atmosphere. A depressing atmosphere that hid a deep rage that was about to break out at any moment, causing everyone there to work silently and obediently. So what was the cause of this atmosphere?

The big boss, Wen Linshu, told the front desk first thing in the morning in a very angry tone: when Su Chenyu arrives, direct her immediately to his office. 

After he left, the entire company fell into chaos. Did Goddess Su do something to make the big boss angry? But weren’t the two of them friends? They were fine just yesterday, why is the President going berserk now? 

Could it be some sort of unspeakable scandal?!!

Everyone gathered together to whisper in gossipy tones. However, they didn’t dare talk too loudly. After all, one is the pillar of the company and the other is the ruler of the company. If they were overheard by those two, the consequences were unimaginable! But, that still couldn’t stop them from whispering among themselves in private. After all, this is big news!

Later, Su Chenyu, Wang Anyi, and Lin Yunxi all walked in together. Originally they were with the crew and finishing a film. Since Su Chenyu’s acting was flawless, they were making good progress and actually finished the part early today. However, when they were about to return home, Wen Linshu had called them in for a ‘talk’.

When they entered, the three of them could feel the unusual atmosphere in the air, but they didn’t show any reactions. Su Chenyu never cared about anything she wasn’t interested in and Wang Anyi merely swept her gaze around the room. At the same time, however, she began to go over Su Chenyu’s recent schedule and all the people she came in contact with. Wang Anyi couldn’t find any problem, so then, she concluded, it must be a private matter. However, what could it be? She remembered that Little Su and the President only ever talked about her schedule. Everything else, like which film she wanted to take on, she can choose herself. Every decision was made by Little Su, the President never interfered. 

Lin Yunxi, on the other hand, felt a little uneasy and had a bad feeling in her gut. It couldn’t be that the big boss found out about the meeting between Little Su and Jiexi, right? Thinking about this…it was quite possible…wait what if the boss thought it was because I leaked out the secret to Little Su? In her heart, she prayed furiously that it was not about this!

“Miss Su, the President said that you should meet him in his office immediately.” The receptionist at the front desk cautiously approached Su Chenyu and politely delivered her message. 

“Thank you, I understand.” Su Chenyu nodded lightly and walked towards the elevators. A golden card appeared in her hand as she inserted into the scanner of a small elevator. The door opened, and Su Chenyu led the way. 

There were many different types of elevators in the Xingle Company. One was for employees and the other for not so popular stars. Then there was one other type, the one that Su Chenyu was taking right now. It was an elevator only used by the big shots, the executives, the President, and other big stars who were the pillars of the company. To use it, one must have a special key. The golden card in Su Chenyu’s hands was the key. In addition to this golden card, there were five other golden cards and a dozen silver cards, with the President possessing a special black card. For the people who worked at Xingle, other than the conveniences of using a personal elevator, the card also symbolized one’s identity and the benefits they received. To get one of these cards, they would ruthlessly step on their fellow peers to climb up that corporate ladder.  

Anyhow, within moments, the elevator opened up into the uppermost floor. Su Chenyu walked out slowly without hurry. Half of the floor was Wen Linshu’s office and to show how big the space is, the secretary had her own office behind a glass wall where she can see who enters from the elevator. 

Su Chenyu saw that Wen Linshu’s secretary, Long Huiguang was sorting through some files, her eyes subtly glancing at the door behind her. However, feeling the presence of someone else, her eyes quickly shifted to see Su Chenyu and the others. Seeing this, Long Huiguang quickly stood up and opened the glass door. 

“Terribly sorry to have made you wait, Miss Su. Please, go in, he’s waiting for you. Ah, but Miss Wang and Miss Lin, please wait in the other room, the President wants to speak privately to Miss Su.” 

“Little Long, do you know what the President wants with Little Su?” Wang Anyi asked with a slight frown. 

“No, I’m sorry Sister Wang. The President kept to himself today, holed up in his office. He only told me to pass on the message.” Long Huiguan waved her hand with a bitter smile.

“I see…” Wang Anyi nodded helplessly and then said to Su Chenyu, 

“You should go in then, but be careful.”

“En…” Su Chenyu knocked on the door and then walked into the office.

“Little Long, you should go back to your work, we’ll wait here.” Wang Anyi said to Long Huiguan. 

“Alright, I’ll do so, but rest assured, Little Su will be okay.” Long Huiguang scratched her head and smiled. She also had her own job to do, so she was unable to accompany the two here, and could only comfort them with a few words. However, she believed that the President would not mistreat Little Su. After all, she is the company’s money tree and the face of the company. Even if the President was dissatisfied with her, he will still treat her with some level of restraint. 

“I hope so.” Wang Anyi sighed. She looked puzzlingly at Lin Yunxi, who was glancing at the boss’ office from time to time. Seeing Long Huiguan returning to her work, she walked over to Lin Yunxi,

“Yunxi, what are you looking at?”

“Ahhhh?! Sister…Sister Wang…I, uh….it’s nothing, I’m just worried about Little Su.” Lin Yunxi smiled with a guilty expression on her face and a look of discomfort in her eyes. Seeing this expression, Wang Anyi narrowed her eyes,

“Yunxi, do you know something about what’s going on?”

After hearing Wang Anyi ask this question, Lin Yunxi laughed nervously, 

“Sister Wang, what are you talking about? I’m just worried about Little Su.”

“Is that so….” Wang Anyi quietly observed Lin Yunxi’s expression. The worry on her face couldn’t be faked, so she could only let it go. She then leaned against the wall, her arms crossed as she looked at the door. 

Lin Yunxi watched Sister Wang’s movements from the corner of her eyes and breathed out a sigh of relief. Inwardly, she was praying, Boss, oh Boss, I didn’t tell anyone! Please investigate thoroughly, don’t take out your anger on Little Su!

In the office, the atmosphere was different from the tension and chaos outside, instead, it was extremely quiet. Too quiet. Su Chenyu didn’t mind the strange atmosphere at all and walked indifferently to the sofa, sat down without speaking, and quietly took out her script and began to read through it. 

Naturally, Wen Linshu knew that Su Chenyu had come. However, he deliberately bowed his head and ignored her. Hmph! This president will treat you coldly and let you taste my silent treatment. I dare you to get angry with me!

However, the result was not what he expected. Su Chenyu had sat on the sofa and started reading while ignoring him……he was the one being ignored??!!!!

Bear with it, endure…I can’t endure it anymore! Wen Linshu stood and in big strides walked directly towards Su Chenyu. Pointing a finger at her, he started, 

“Su Chenyu! Do you have nothing to say to me?” 

“What does the President want me to say?” Su Chenyu’s eyebrows slightly raised. What is this foolish man going crazy about this time? 

Not knowing that he has been assigned the title of ‘foolish man’ in Su Chenyu’s heart, Wen Linshu jumped up angrily. Why was he like this? 

Going back a few days earlier, his little sister had come back for another holiday and he had purposely left early, his heart filled with joy to see his cute little sister. He wanted to ask her about her college life and listen to her interesting stories as her face lights up with happiness. For him, this was the source of his energy and motivation that would sustain him through his work for an entire week! 

However!! Can anyone tell him why every time his little sister opened her mouth it was Su Chenyu this, Su Chenyu that? She’s only a woman with a cold iceberg exterior and a somewhat lively heart on the inside! What is so good about a woman like that? 

If one wanted to talk about the relationship between Su Chenyu and Wen Linshu, one had to go back to their high school days. They were only classmates at first, the type that were nodding acquaintances. However, when Wen Linshu turned 18, he inherited his family’s company and then learned that Su Chenyu would be working for him. Like this, the two worked together for seven years and were considered good work partners and became friends. 

I regarded you as a friend and yet you dare to lust after my sister?!! I cannot tolerate it! Haven’t you heard of the saying, a rabbit doesn’t eat the grass by its own burrow? [1] What you are is an old cow eating tender grass instead! [2] I ask that you please don’t harass my sweet and naive little sister! 

And so that’s how we ended up here.

Wen Linshu saw that Su Chenyu didn’t have the ‘I admit my wrongdoing’ attitude and blurted out his inner thoughts, 

“Su Chenyu! You’re already 25 years old, don’t you dare covet my sister! As the older brother, I must disagree with this!” 

“You have a little sister?” Su Chenyu replied, tilting her head. She has never heard of Wen Linshu having a little sister. Although they were considered as friends, they didn’t tell each other much about their family and their other private affairs. And when did she meet his little sister? From her memories, she didn’t think she had met anybody who was related to Wen Linshu.

At this point, she suddenly remembered the events a few days ago and the girl who had left her an unforgettable impression. She had the same Wen surname as him. However, Su Chenyu looked at the well-dressed man in front of her, who was actually a fool that left people speechless and then thought about that shy and gentle girl from yesterday. Huh, how are they brother and sister, they don’t even look like each other. 

If Lin Yunxi knew what Su Chenyu was thinking right now, she would be nodding her head furiously. Except for their foreheads being a bit similar, how can anyone tell that they are siblings? However, when they stood next to each other, anyone could tell they were related at a glance. Such a strange power, was it a Wen family special gene?

“Huh?” Wen Linshu looked at Su Chenyu suspiciously. Did I misunderstand something? Su Chenyu and his little sister never met? But his little sister never discussed things about the entertainment industry before? Only after she came back from school did she seem to gain an interest in this, could it be that her classmates were teaching her some unsavory things? Wuwuwuwu….my little sister is being corrupted!

“So you called me in today, to discuss that sheltered and well-protected little sister of yours.” Su Chenyu put down the book in her hands and looked at Wen Linshu with a strange expression. How come she never figured out that Wen Linshu is a…what it’s called…oh, sis-con! Well, she only learned he had a sister today so it wasn’t that surprising. 

Being stared down by Su Chenyu, Wen Linshu for some reason felt a little ashamed. However, he snorted arrogantly and waved his hand, 

“Forget it, it’s nothing, you can go now…ah, wait, this is for you.” Saying so, Wen Linshu picked up a stack of papers on his table, 

“When you’re done with this film, you can pick out your next one yourself.”

This was the perfect example of one who asks others to work but does nothing himself. However, Su Chenyu didn’t care, without Wen Linshu micromanaging her every movement, she had more freedom and felt less restrained in her career choices. She nodded once and then walked out. 

On the other end, Wen Jiexi, whose brother thought was being corrupted by her classmates, was sitting in front of the TV with Li Lingmeng. They were watching every movie and drama that Su Chenyu starred in from the very beginning of her debut to now. After watching a few movies, Wen Jiexi only now discovered that she really was being held back by her past, by her old sick self.

Meet you again…Wen Jiexi hugged her legs as she sat there watching the TV. On the TV, Su Chenyu seemed to give her character life, as if the person she was playing was real. Wen Jiexi felt like her heart was a tangled mess. Did she want to take this next step? After all, now she can choose any path she wanted, she didn’t have to choose the entertainment industry, but…if she was being serious…she really wanted to meet that woman again…
