Chapter 77- ABO Interstellar (7)

Although Gu Anran wanted to laugh at Mu Qingli being called a ‘beast’, she knew now was not the time. If she didn’t explain everything clearly, it would leave a bad impression on her sister and her future sister-in-law. If the two of them wanted to be together in the future, she must not let her family misunderstand. So she explained what happened to her brother and sister. Although being teased and laughed at during their first encounter was not that great of a first impression either, it was much better than being called a beast. 

“You actually laughed at my innocent, cute, and precious Little Ran?! Are you aware that laughing at Little Ran is equivalent to mocking me?!” Gu Anlun stood up and stared threateningly at Mu Qingli and Chi Mengyan. 

Gu Anran: “……” MDZZ (T/N: slang for “what an idiot”)

Hong Qingyi: “…..” Innocent? Cute? Precious? Pfthahahaha! It’s so ridiculous that she’s going to laugh herself to death! Sure enough, a sister-con will always be a sister-con! 

Mu Qingli & Chi Mengyan “?????”

Gu Anxin nodded solemnly: “Hmm… what he said is right.”

Huang Linfan smiled bitterly: “…Anxin.” 

“At the time….we weren’t thinking straight and….” Chi Mengyan scratched her head embarrassedly.

“You weren’t thinking straight? Tell me, just what is so funny about my precious, gentle, lovely, innocent, and beautiful little baby sister!” Gu Anlun pointed to the wooden-faced Gu Anran and questioned Chi Mengyan angrily. 

….My God……he added on even more adjectives! Just how many attributes does she have! 

“Brother, it was just a misunderstanding.” “Gu Anran held her forehead with one hand and slapped away Gu Anlun’s hand that was pointing to Chi Mengyan with the other. 

“Wuwuwu, Little Ran, you hit me!” The idiot brother with the surname Gu looked at his baby sister with an aggrieved expression. 

“Oh…..” Gu Anran replied indifferently. With the Alpha’s remarkable healing abilities, that little slap just now was nothing and she didn’t even use that much strength. Her brother was clearly just overreacting again. 

“Ah, ah, my Little Ran, you have changed! You weren’t like this before! Before you used to come up to me and warmly ask me to pamper you! How did it turn out like this? Have you met someone else who has taken you away from me? You don’t love me anymore! I’m so heartbroken!” Gu Anlun wailed loudly as he (fake) cried.

“….” Gu Anran felt the blue veins on her head popping. 

Bang! Before she could say anything, Gu Anlun was sent flying, and the culprit had her hands up in a frightening pose with no intention to conceal her crime. 

“Heartbroken? Then I’ll show you what real pain is.” After shaking her hands, Gu Anxin gave a cold snort, sat back in her seat while hugging Huang Lifan, and then looked towards Gu Anran.

“Anran, did no one tell you that you will be matched with a partner five days from now?” 

“No.” Gu Anran and Hong Qingyi shook their heads at the same time.

“Huh? Shouldn’t the teacher have told you in advance?” Huang Linfan blinked strangely, then turned to ask Mu Qingli and Chi Mengyan on the side, 

“Did you two know about it?” 

“We knew….but we thought Anran and Qingyi knew as well so we didn’t see the point of mentioning it.” Mu Qingli smiled embarrassedly.

“So that’s how it is.” Gu Anxin nodded in understanding. 

….both siblings were sis-cons but why were their IQ levels so different? Gu Anran glanced at Gu Anlun, who had finally returned after dragging himself up, and gave him a look of disdain. 

“Alright, then let me tell you how the matching works.” Huang Linfan smiled. 

Indeed, as a senior in the mecha engineering and manufacturing department, it was more appropriate for her to explain everything to Gu Anran and Hong Qingyi. After all, the mecha piloting and the mecha engineering department had different procedures. 

After Huang Linfan gave a general introduction about the matching system, Gu Anran, and the others understood the matter a little bit better. 

So it turns out that in five days when the teacher inspects their homework, they will be lined up around the track while the students of the mecha piloting department watch from the sides. One can say that their first homework assignment is actually more of a performance. 

Of course, it is not only the mecha engineering department, as the piloting department will also be piloting their mechas to properly let those in the engineering department witness their prowess. In a way, this performance was an event to let each department show the other their ability. After all, mental power is not everything. One has to see if the other had the ability to use that mental power in the first place.  

Imagine two different people are in front of you. A student with an SS-level mental power but poor control or a student with an S-level mental power but strong control over their ability. Most people would choose the latter as their partner. Although one’s mental power may be outstanding, who cares about the level of your mental power if you can’t use it on the battlefield? Strength is everything in this world! 

“Mengyan, Qingli, what level of mecha are you two piloting.” Hong Qingyi turned around and asked.

“We haven’t been tested and ranked yet, so every first-year currently pilots a first-level mecha.” Chi Mengyan explained.

“Little Ran, Qingyi, are these two the partners you want to be paired with?” Gu Anxin lifted her chin and motioned towards Mu Qingli and Chi Mengyan. 

Gu Anran raised her eyebrows. She didn’t expect that her sister would ask so directly. She thought about it, but she doesn’t know if Qingli will agree…..

Wait a minute, what’s with those puppy dog eyes? Gu Anran was about to open her mouth and say something when she suddenly froze. Her brain short-circuited and the only thought in her head was “My wifey is acting cute? Damn, she’s so cute!”. That sentence kept repeating over and over inside her head. 

When Mu Qingli heard Gu Anxin’s question, her heart jumped into her throat. She had only spent a few days with Anran, but she instinctively had a good impression of Anran and had developed some good feelings towards the omega. Then when she saw those other alphas standing in front of Anran earlier, her nose felt sour and her heart had felt bitter. She didn’t know why, but somewhere in her subconscious, she had this nagging feeling that she didn’t want to give Anran away to anybody. 

She looked nervously at Anran. While Hong Qingyi had straightforwardly said she wanted to be paired with Chi Mengyan, Anran was still looking at Mu Qingli in a daze. Mu Qingli couldn’t help but become anxious, and there was a trace of pleading in her eyes. The picture of a pitiful big dog in front of her just so happened to hit Gu Anran’s sore spot and caused Anran to become even more dazed. 

Ahhhhh! My wife is so cute! Like a cute little husky! So Cute~~ I’m drooling, I want to give her a pat on the head! 

“Anran? Anran?” Hong Qingyi patted Gu Anran on the shoulder and called out to her several times, but Gu Anran didn’t react at all. Gu Anran seemed to be muttering something underneath her breath and so she leaned forward and then…..

“……”

At this moment, Gu Anran had an idiotic smile on her face. If Hong Qingyi wasn’t blocking everyone’s sight by being so close, Gu Anran’s princess image would’ve long been washed down the drain. 

Hong Qingyi revealed a mischievous smirk on her face and then stretched out a pair of evil hand to pinch Gu Anran’s ears harshly, breaking Gu Anran’s idiotic expression 

“Uh….Qingyi, what are you doing?” Gu Anran, who was staring at her wife’s cute face, was suddenly faced with the evil face of her best friend and comrade. The sudden change was too much for her heart to beat! 

“Gu-jie is asking you a question! Why are you still daydreaming?” Hong Qingyi still smiled good-naturedly but the hands pinching Gu Anran’s ears pressed down harder. 

“I-I know, I know, can you please let go?” Gu Anran was also smiling but you can see that the smile was forced and if one looked closely, the corners of her mouth were twitching a little. 

Mu Qingli and the others looked at the backs of the two omegas who seemed to be discussing something with strange looks. 

Meanwhile, Chi Mengyan revealed a black-hearted smile on her face after Hong Qingyi agreed to pair with her. It seemed she had successfully captured the little puppy. (There is no such thing as gentleness in this world, only those who are gentle on the outside and black on the inside←← ).

“Sister, I want to pair with Qingli.” Finally, Hong Qingyi let go and Gu Anran answered Gu Anxin with a sincere expression. 

After hearing Gu Anran’s answer, Mu Qingli finally breathed a sigh of relief and at the same time jumped with joy. Yes! Anran agreed! 

    「Ding! The female lead’s favorability has increased by (20) and is currently at (55).」

!!! What a spicy number!! It increased so much! Gu Anran glanced at Mu Qingli with surprise but the other only looked back at her with a gentle gaze. Ahhhhhh, she almost lost herself in that gaze! She shook her head. That gentle gaze was just too powerful! 

“Hey, hey, don’t be too happy just yet.” Gu Anxin lifted her head from Huang Linfan’s shoulder and said.

Seeing the puzzled eyes of the four people, Huang Linfan explained,

“Although you may have verbally agreed to be partners, it is only a matter of formality. The match can only be legally registered by the school.” 

“Then as long as we choose each other during registration everything should be fine.” Hong Qingyi still didn’t understand and tilted her head in confusion. 

“If only it was that easy.” Huang Linfan smiled helplessly.

“There are a lot more students in the piloting department than the engineering department. So it is impossible to have everyone paired up as there is always someone left over. There are always seniors who are not matched each year.” Gu Anxin said. 

“So what?” Gu Anran glanced at Mu Qingli, who was filling the empty glass in her hand with juice and smiled with gratitude. 

“Strength means everything at this academy, but it doesn’t mean that others will still try. Everyone wants to be paired up with somebody so there’s bound to be some sort of fighting breaking out. Therefore, the school provides a sort of competition, so to speak.” Gu Anxin pointed at Mu Qingli, “If you want to be paired with Little Ran, then say someone like me, a senior, can challenge you for that right. If I win, you must forfeit your right, and then Little Ran will be matched with me. Of course, the same applies to Little Ran. If another omega challenges her, she must win, or else she cannot pair with you.” 

Such a thing could happen? This….Gu Anran’s eyes widened. 

“But isn’t it a bit unfair to be fighting against seniors who have more experience than us?” 

“There is no such thing as fairness in this school. The academy respects the strong and ignores the weak, so if you want to be together, you must work hard to become strong and defeat your challengers. Here, we speak with our fists and not with affection, friendship, or status. In this military academy, these are the rules. No one can interfere with these rules, including the royal family. Here, strength is everything and without strength, you cannot protect your partner. If one cannot protect their partner then the pairing was a failure in the first place. So you must become strong, so strong that no one dares to even think of coming in between you two. Let them be unable to do anything as they watch jealousy. This is the law of survival here in the academy.” Gu Anxin said coldly.

Gu Anran opened her mouth and found that her throat was quite dry. When she saw her sister’s gentle and pampering eyes turn cold and murderous, she understood that her sister was saying the truth. And it seems that Gu Anxin has been challenged before….

“Alright, enough of that, you’re scaring them.” Huang Linfan patted the back of Gu Anxin’s hand, then raised her head and said, “We are here today precisely because of this. Since you want to be paired together then you must work hard to improve your strength. In these next five days, I will be teaching Anran and Qingyi while Anxin will be mentoring Qingli and Mengyan. Do you guys have any questions?”

“….No.”
